“A fantasy?” Aiden slurped on his strawberry milkshake.

“Yeah, like Lord of the Pendant, Grims Paradise, and Orc's Land.” Aiden's editor explained. “Why not try writing a fantasy for once?”

Aiden's lips aborted on the straw and hummed. “Hmm...”

“Come on, Aiden, you're an author, you can just go with the medieval trope.”

“The way you say it sounds like you're forcing me. Did someone blackmail you?”

“What? No!”

“Then, what brought you to this kind of topic?” Aiden arched a brow, even though his editor couldn't see it because they were calling each other on the phone.

“Nothing, just curious if you're interested.”

“Oh...”

“So, are you interested?”

“Hmm, I'll try.” Aiden slurped his milkshake.

“Really?”

Aiden finished his milkshake. “Yeah. Anyway, bye.”

Aiden hung up and left the swivel chair to dump the empty milkshake into the nearest trash bin inside his room. After that, he picked up the sling bag beside the laptop and wrapped it around his body.

Before proceeding on leaving, he glanced at the clock — It was Five pm, then he resumed going outside.

On the sidewalk, he wondered ”What is Fantasy anyway?”

Aiden Lee was an author who had already written 12 books, most of the genres he wrote were drama, a slice of life, and action. Except for dark stories, not his cup of tea.

Then his sling bag began to vibrate.

Aiden stopped his tracks and picked out the phone. His girlfriend was calling and he answered it.

“Hello?”

“Where are you? You're late!”

“Late? What are you talking about?”

“You already forgot? Our date!”

“Uhm... Where are we meeting again?”

“At Shaun's La Vere.”

Aiden checked the time on his phone and said, “I'll be there in ten minutes.” he ended the call and slid his phone inside the bag. “Hm?”

Aiden's girlfriend was tapping her heels while her elbow was propping on the table. She scratched her light brunette hair and sighed. “Where is he?”

She picked up her phone to call him again. But, Aiden appeared to her left, surprising her. Her right hand abruptly swung, hitting Aiden's cheeks with a harsh sound. Everyone's head automatically turned at the couples near the window.

She gasped. “I'm sorry!”

“I-It's alright,” Aiden winced a little and proceeded to sit on the chair, facing his girlfriend.

“What took you so lo- wait, you're seriously wearing a sweater?”

Aiden glanced at his hazel sweater and shrugged it off. “What about it?”

Most of the people inside the restaurant were wearing formal outfits. However, Aiden's outfit was gaining some several attention from other people. He looked like a guy who just woke up, because of his messy brown hair.

Even though they weren't. It was already like that since he was young.

“Never mind,” she sighed and noticed a paper bag in his hand. “What's that?”

“Just a movie.”

“Let me guess, drama?”

“Nope. It's a Fantasy.‘

Her eyelids lit up a little as she shook her head, and called the waiter to order.

Meanwhile, after their date was over. Aiden's stomach was delighted. Including his girlfriend.

“Where should we head next?” she asked.

“Wait, you're asking me?” Aiden pointed to himself. But, the way his partner glared at him got him silent for a moment. Those sharp eyes frightened him and replied, “Park...”

And so, her glare softened, and she dragged Aiden's arm. “Let's go!” she nervously smiled, flustered at holding her boyfriend's arm.

Aiden's girlfriend may be scary sometimes, but seeing her getting embarrassed always made him at ease. Yet, he was feeling the same thing too.

Three hours later. Aiden escorted his partner on their way home. While the moon glistened in the night sky. The chilly breeze blew their hair, fluttering in the air. Thanks to Aiden's sweater, the cold was useless. However, his partner, on the other hand, was dressed in a white blouse with navy jeans.

Aiden felt guilty because he didn't bring any extra warm clothes. Even though, he wasn't expecting that their date would take too long. So, he told her to bear with the cold for a while.

“Thanks,” she replied while rubbing her shoulders. “So... How's work?”

“Nothing special, you?”

“Same.” she said before adding, “Why the sudden change by the way?”

“Sudden change?” Aiden tilted his head quizzically till he realized what she meant. “Oh, you mean the fantasy movie I just bought?”

She nodded and waited for his reason. Her blood-dyed pupils showed curiosity why he bought a movie.

“Well, my editor said, I should write a fantasy story for once.”

“Your editor was blackmailing you!?”

“No, no! It's just, it got me curious, you know.”

“Oh... So, does that mean, you'll try writing a fantasy?”

“Yep.”

“Have you already planned out your story?”

“Not yet, that's why a bought a movie.”

“I see,” she bobbed her head and tapped his back twice. “Good luck, then.”

“Thanks.”

As they proceeded, the chat ended. While passing several lamp posts on their way home. They would take a glance at each other, but when their eyes met in contact. Both of them got flustered and looked away.

“This is kinda awkward,” Aiden's partner stated.

Aiden nodded, agreeing with her. Yet, his expression changed in an instant, halting his leg. When he did, the woman stopped too.

“Aiden?”

Confused about Aiden's stern look.

“M-May...” Aiden's lips trembled.

“Yes?”

“Tomorrow is Sunday, right?”

“Uh-huh.”

He took a deep breath and said, “I've been thinking... Do you want to stay over at my place? Like a real couple?”

May's face boiled up at the thought of Aiden being aggressive. This was the first time, Aiden said that to his girlfriend, and sweat ran down his face like a river.

“It's alright if you don't want to,” Aiden said, adding with a half-laugh. “Actually, forge-”

“I don't mind...” she answered in a low tone.

“You mean it?” Aiden's brows lit up and she nodded.

Flustered, both of them shifted their eyes away before Aiden grabbed her hand.

“Hey, Aiden...”

“Yes?”

May leaned close to his ear and whispered, “Tomorrow might be a safe day for me~”

She seductively said and Aiden's ear reddened. “I- I think we should do that after we got married.” he stammered.

“Okay~”

Later, they reached May's house. However, rather than going inside now, she left a smooch on Aiden's cheek.

She grinned before unlocking the door. “Bye~”

As soon she closed the door, Aiden triumphantly raised his hand in the air, skipping his toes on the way home.

Aiden laid his back on his bed, letting out a relieved sigh.

“I said it, I finally said it,” he mumbled, reaching out his arms on the paper bag, to get the movie he bought in the store earlier. The title of the movie was, Tattle's Journey.

He took the disc out of the thin box and there was no printed picture. He cocked his head to the side with a puzzled look. Yet, he lifted his shoulders and inserted it into the DVD reader on his laptop.

“Alright, play.”

After pressing the play button. A bubble swallowed his laptop, right in front of his eyes. Three seconds later, the bubble popped along with the laptop. The way it popped, was like it teleported in a short second without any explosion. He abruptly stood up from his chair,  swaying his hands to check the computer if it was still there. However, there was nothing.

Another popped sounded from behind, he looked back with a gasp. As every stuff he owned was being teleported with each pop. Aiden rushed to his stuff to prevent them from leaving. After grabbing the stuff he could only take, it still vanished from his arms.

Each, second, every object would pop. Until the whole room was swallowed, including Aiden inside.

POP!

Soon, the puzzled man was floating in the depths of nothingness. Shocked that a mere bubble was able to swallow his whole room, only to send him into this darkness.

“What kind of movie did I buy just now!?”

Panicking won't help because the situation might get worse. Instead, he calmly called for help. Although, no one answered. Aiden felt dumb.

“Is this a dream?” he asked himself.

“No.” a hollow yet loud, echoed the darkness.

Aiden covered his ears and shouted, “Who's there!”

A bright light illuminated the abyss and Aiden slightly opened his mouth; Hundreds of eyes were gawking at him while flapping its three feathered wings on each side.

“Greetings, young human.”
