Kenneth, like every day, was playing with his friends in the park. He felt much better since he had decided to spend this life in a simple way. His parents were going out of their minds that he was spending so much time in the graveyards. Finally, he had to admit that spirits in this world either don't exist or, without exception, end up in the hereafter. Either way, he can't do much without them.
It was beginning to get dark when he decided to end the fun for today. A little more and he'll make his parents angry again.
"I have to go now, I promised my parents I'd be back before dark." He said to his friends.
"Don't be a wuss! We have to finish the round!" Shouted Edith.
She was something of a leader of his pack. The most open of all, always smiling. She was able to make friends with everyone in a moment. She acted like a typical tomboy. In this she was easily angered.
I guess I always liked this type of woman. He thought. Although she is only five years old.
"We'll finish tomorrow." He announced and started heading toward home.
"Bored! Ah, good then we also finish for today. Oi, same time tomorrow!"
"Sure!"
BOOM
He had moved a few dozen meters away from the park when he heard a loud bang. Evidently from the side where they were playing earlier. He turned around and started running.
Damn, let's hope nothing happened to them.
It took him a few minutes to get back. However, when he arrived he froze. The remains of children's clothes lay everywhere.
No, no, no.

How?! What?!
"Help!" He suddenly heard Edith's voice. Immediately moving towards her.
Finally, he saw her standing with her back to the river. In front of her stood something he had never seen in his previous life. His senses told him that it was some kind of spirit, but something was wrong with it. It was like it had been warped.
A black body, with unnaturally long limbs. A face hidden behind a strange white mask. With a hole in the middle of her chest.
He didn't have time to think about it, he ran up and started incanting: "I AM GOD, FLAWLESSLY BORN, LEADER OF MEN, SAVIOR OF WORLDS!"
"Aaaaaa!" The spirit began to scream.
Good. Barely, but it's working. He began to move slowly toward this thing, not stopping to incant.
"I AM THE THE LAW, FLAWLESSLY KEPT, POWERFUL SCRIPT, HARSHLY ENFORCED!"
The spirit screamed louder and louder. It was thrashing towards him.
"I AM A SOUL, FLAWLESSLY SAVED, NOWHERE TO GO, OUT OF MY PLACE!"
Suddenly, he felt a kind of powerful increase in pressure. He fell silent for a moment, which gave spirit a chance to break free. And this one, taking the opportunity, rushed to devour Edith, opening wide its maw with dozens of sharp fangs.
He didn't have time. He impulsively used his most fundamental technique. He forcefully grabbed spirit, transforming it into a small black orb, which he then shoved into his body, intending to trap this thing. Just hoping to tame it.
After which, he passed out.
