(Lucky family)
The pregnant woman had a sizable belly and walked with a limp as a result of her recent fall. Nobody would think she was dangerous.
Fang Qi, a modern male college student, was naturally enthusiastic about assisting others. He helped the pregnant woman to the 401 entrance, a line of little friends trailing behind him.
The pregnant woman struggled to find the key and opened the door.
When the door opened, an evil wind blew in their faces, combined with an unfathomable odor.
Even with the curtains open, the room was in the shade, and there was no moonlight.
Fang Qi assisted the pregnant woman in entering the room, hardly able to see the furniture through the light in the corridor.
The expecting woman had most likely not been married for long. Two happy characters were still glued on the glass window, but the light was dim and it appeared dismal. Not only was it not festive, but it was also inexplicably weird.
Fang Qi fumbled for a minute on the walls on both sides of the door before pressing the switch with a “click.” The orange light in the living room abruptly turned on, dispelling the weird feeling.
Fang Qi assisted the pregnant woman in getting onto the sofa. He thought he’d done his job as a boy scout and should go, so he said, “We’ll be leaving now. You should call an ambulance if you really need something.”
The pregnant woman, however, gripped Fang Qi and looked up, revealing a pale and fragile face: “My husband will be returning soon, could you accompany me for a while?”
Fang Qi hesitated for a bit.
Well, it was immoral to leave a pregnant woman who had just fallen down at home, so he turned to consult the others for their opinions.
“One person will do,” the pregnant woman remarked weakly.
Fang Qi felt the same way. It was not a good idea to crowd into the pregnant woman’s home, but he was afraid and dared not make a decision.
“OK, no problem, we will accompany you,” Shen Dongqing stated at this point.
He went in boldly, plopped his butt in the middle of the sofa, and appeared to be the host rather than the pregnant woman.
Wu Jia was the last person to enter. He was extra cautious, and instead of locking the door, he twisted the lock cylinder back and re-secured it, to avoid the storyline in horror films when the door suddenly closes and there is no way out.
When the pregnant woman saw the men walk in one by one, each more impolite than the last and quickly cramming the small living room, her face turned ugly.
If only Fang Qi had stayed, she could have easily taken his life. But, with the exception of the brat, all of these men were taller and stronger than she was. Whose life could she possibly claim?
Shen Dongqing looked at her, concerned, and asked: “Older sister, why has your face turned so ugly? Do you want me to call an ambulance for you?”
“Thank you, no need,” the pregnant woman hissed through her teeth.
“It’s nothing, I’m willing to help others,” said Shen Dongqing, waving his hand.
When the expectant woman looked around, she noticed that the sofa was filled with helpful individuals. She could only manage an uneasy smile: “I’ll make you tea…”
She stood up, her belly bulging.
“Why don’t I come with you?” Fang Qi swiftly supported her with his hand.
The pregnant lady stated: “I’m fine. You’re guests, so please take a seat first. It’s really thanks to you this time. When my husband returns, I must ask him to properly thank you.”
She said the final two words through clenched teeth, not like “thank you”, but rather like “kill you.”
Unlike the previous arduous motions, the pregnant woman rushed into the kitchen at a quick pace. It was impossible to tell from her vigorous back that she was a pregnant woman who had just fallen.
The folks in the living room fell silent when the pregnant woman left.

“No,” he said, shaking his head.
Everything else was normal, except for the pregnant woman.
Wu Jia exhaled a sigh of relief, saying, “That’s good.”
“Why hasn’t Older Sister come out yet?” Fang Qi wondered after a while.
The pregnant woman did not come out, and there was no sound in the kitchen.
“I’ll go in and have a look,” Fang Qi remarked as he rose up.
He walked over and saw the pregnant woman lying on the ground, life or death unknown, and a spot of fishy-smelling blood spilled on the white skirt as soon as he reached the kitchen door.
Fang Qi’s initial thought was to go up and see if the pregnant woman was alive or dead.
“Are you alright, Older Sister?” He checked the pregnant woman’s breath and yelled anxiously, “Older Sister, Older Sister?!”
Older Sister was cold and not breathing.
“Ambulance, yes, ambulance.” Fang Qi was shocked and about to reach for his phone when he noticed the older sister, who had her eyes tightly shut earlier, lift open her eyelids without warning.
Fang Qi assumed the woman had recovered and said, “Older Sister, are you okay?”
Naturally, the older sister was alright. It was now Fang Qi’s turn to be busy.
The older sister had a pale face and clutched Fang Qi’s arm.
Fang Qi almost sprang up in fright, reaching out to pull the older sister’s palm away: “Older Sister, let go of your hand first…”
But the older sister didn’t respond, her slack eyes fixed on the ceiling. Her face was pale and weak, but she had a lot of strength in her hands. She clutched Fang Qi’s arm so firmly that purple handprints appeared.
Fang Qi turned around to seek assistance from his pals outside. He froze when he caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of his eye.
The pregnant woman had a large stomach. She appeared to be six or seven months pregnant, with a high bulge. Her belly was now arching again and again, as if something was going to emerge out of it.
Fang Qi seemed to detect something and exclaimed a familiar “Help!”
Fang Qi heard skin and flesh being torn and a bloody little hand stretching out from the breach in the stomach in the few seconds it took the others to rush over.
“Hehe—”
An immature baby crawled out, dragging a long umbilical cord with it. Its limbs were weak, yet it possessed a mouthful of sharp teeth that belied its age.
Fang Qi shuddered and forcefully swallowed back the next cry of help.
The baby was staring at him as if he was looking at food. It seemed like the infant was born prematurely and that its mother had died, therefore it desired to augment its sustenance with something else.
“Nutrient” shouted: “Help—”
As soon as the voice faded, there was a crash as the kitchen door crammed with people.

Wu Jia and Shen Dongqing were stuck in the doorway, so the brat found another way in and drilled in from underneath. Only Zhou Wenyan stood at the end, indifferent to the excitement.
Shen Dongqing: “So ugly.”
Brat: “Very ugly.”
The two made a passing remark about the tiny baby’s appearance, with no intention of ‘respecting the old and cherishing the young.’
Only Wu Jia’s reaction was considered normal: “What exactly is this thing? Didn’t you say this place is ordinary?”
Shen Dongqing gave him an innocent look: “You asked about the house, not the person.”
The house was perfectly normal except for the fact that ghosts resided in it.
Fang Qi was on the verge of crying: “Stop talking! Come and save me.”
Brat: “You can’t be saved, it’s hopeless.”
Fang Qi: ???
Brat: “Ghost babies are quite rare in the world. They stay over in human bodies and kill their mothers as soon as they are born. They’re extremely vicious.” He made a V sign, “But it’s a little worse than me.”
Fang Qi: Is this something to celebrate??
The brat paused before continuing to explain: “When a ghost baby is born, it must murder two people. One of them is the mother, and the other is the first person it sees. This person is usually the father. So it’s your turn now. Bad luck.”
Shen Dongqing: “Wrong.”
Brat: “What’s wrong.”
Shen Dongqing: “I think we can still save him.”
The hapless Fang Qi was in desperate need of rescue.
The ghost baby had already thoroughly competed for the mother’s control while they were conversing. It landed on all fours, crept up Fang Qi’s shoulder along the pregnant woman’s arm, and opened its jaws at him, a malicious expression on its face.
“Hee hee—”
The ghost baby’s umbilical cord swung around, attempting to tie Fang Qi’s neck, but it was grabbed by the hand before it could.
Unprepared, the ghost baby dangled in the air, its limbs uselessly cutting the air, until its little head twisted 180°, grabbed the umbilical cord, and climbed up, seeking to bite the hand that held it.
Shen Dongqing: “Tsk, it’s disgusting.”
He grabbed the kitchen knife that was on the chopping board, and slapped it down.
Bang—
Ghost Baby was stunned by the swat.
Wah~ here are all non-human creatures, and they all attack using unscientific means. Why the hell is it a physical counterattack when it comes to you? What’s going on here?
Can you play by the rules?
Shen Dongqing didn’t care about the rules of the game. He simply shoved the trapped ghost baby into a pot, then effortlessly put the lid on the pot, and patted his hands: “That’ll do!”
Wu Jia and Fang Qi both looked at him blankly.
That’s it?
Bang, bang, bang—
Ghost Baby, who was locked inside, came back to its senses, couldn’t accept the situation, and desperately bashed its head against the pot.
Shen Dongqing: “If you hit it again, I’ll stew you.”
Ghost Baby was totally unafraid and knocked even more happily.
Shen Dongqing took a ladle and filled it with water before turning on the stove. The pot quickly began to steam.
Even the brat was stunned this time: “You…you’re truly stewing it?”
He couldn’t help feeling pity for the ghost baby in the pot.
The ghost baby in the pot finally calmed down after this series of tricks. Hmm – was it genuinely convinced, or was it cooked?
Shen Dongqing raised the lid and was about to look when a voice from the door interrupted him.
“Who are you?”
The party crowded at the door all turned their heads at the same time.
A strong young man stood at the door, holding two bags of groceries. Obviously, it was the expectant woman’s soon-to-return spouse.
“What are you doing in my house?” the young man inquired.
Wu Jia and Fang Qi both returned their gaze to the kitchen.
What were they doing?
The man’s wife was lying on the kitchen floor, and the man’s child was stewing in the pot. The wife was now cold, and the child was cooked. What a lucky family.
Fang Qi, who had been scared twice before, was now brave and quick-witted. “We’re defending ourselves,” he said swiftly.
Shen Dongqing grasped the pot’s cover and declared even more confidently, “We are being extorted!”
The pregnant woman’s body on the ground twitched, as if she were going to be revived.
When the owner of the house entered, Wu Jia acted normally once more. He didn’t know what to say, so he just said, “Waiting for you…”
Without saying anything, the house owner rushed over and spotted the pregnant woman lying on the ground at a glance.
“You, you murdered my wife!” The fury in the house owner’s eyes was palpable.
The ghost baby in the pot wanted to crawl out, but Shen Dongqing smashed the lid back down again. “It’s bad enough that you’ve learned awful things, but you’re also racing to blackmail,” he stated bitterly after finishing this.
Fang Qi began to explain weakly: “Your wife had stopped breathing when I came in.”
House Owner: “I don’t believe it! I want you to pay in blood!”
Bang!
The light bulb on the ceiling suddenly exploded, and the room plunged into darkness immediately. Nothing could be seen clearly.
The others heard Shen Dongqing say at this point: “Fine. Then let’s call the police.”
The others: “Call the police?!”
Even the house owner was taken aback.
What kind of trick is this?
Shen Dongqing: “That’s right! Isn’t it the police uncles’ job to solve crimes?” He shook his head, “Fancy that new age youths like you guys don’t even know to call the police if you’re in trouble—especially when you’re being extorted.”
He took out his cell phone as he spoke.
