1: Meeting the locals

Magic circle? Check. I was standing in the middle of it. 

People in robes? Check. They were surrounding me.

Candles? Check, though most of them seemed to have gone out.

“Did it work?”

“How should I know? I can’t see a thing in this darkness!”

“Most of the candles went out. I think I can make out something in the circle though.”

“Bah, it’s probably another failure. This is the sixth time we’ve tried this.”

“Six is the magic number though!”

“The number you’re talking about is a lot bigger than six! That’s just lazy to treat it as a mere six!”

“Oh shut it you old hag!”

“W-what? You’re the hag!”

What is this? A sewing circle?  Well, considering I’m naked, it is preferable to be surrounded by old women, than old men.

“Why did you summon me?”

Collective gasps sounded around me.

“It worked!”

“I told you it’d work!”

“You say it’ll work every time!”

“Hush, they’re finally here! Our god is finally here!”

“Yes! Please o great one! Our terrible king keeps conscripting every able bodied man for war!”

“We all have! Damn war has gone on for twenty years!”

“The demon lord’s been dead for ten! Yet they keep conscripting more men and sending them off to die!”

“Avenge our men!”

“Stop that madman!”

“Kill that damned human god!”

More gasps sounded off.

“Y-you… don’t go that far! I-I don’t want the wrath of a god upon me!”

“Me neither!”

“You cowards! It’s the fault of that damned god, that we have such a terrible king!”

“...sigh, for the time being, get me a quiet place to rest and think.”

“Of-of course great one! Linda, give her your room, it’s the biggest one!”

“What? We have a guest room!”

“And it’s the smallest one! We can’t make our god stay in there!”

“Fine! You owe me!”

… what the hell have I been thrown into?
