Annabelle’s view
James has turned out to be quite a useful fellow. Much more so than Lae. His usefulness makes me far less worried about the future, which is a pretty good thing. With his help, I’ve been able to obtain a connection to his still primitive internet, but we do at least have a forum now and an instant message program. It’s just… the only people currently using it are me, him, and Alpha.
James’ existence does give me some useful ideas though. There’s no reason his infrastructure can’t expand into the realm of dreams, and if I can persuade him to, perhaps it will be possible to establish connection to existing intelligent monsters in this world. I’ve already visited the dreams of a few of them, but there isn’t really anything I can do on my own. My role is mostly just helping people learn basic mental skills. Learning how to handle their emotions better isn’t going to save the orcs or goblins from the humans that hunt them.
As for Lae… I think she’s living in denial of reality. She’s just focused on things right in front of her, and avoiding the bigger picture. Though, from what I understand, she had a much harsher invitation to this world than those she summoned, like myself.

Alpha’s view
Convincing Lae to let me become her dress was harder than I expected. She really doesn’t want to monopolize me. Only when I split myself in two, did she let me make one of my bodies be her dress.
It’s awkward to think about. I want to monopolize Lae, but she doesn’t feel the same about me. Lae tells me I should find other people to spend time with and find joy with, but I just want Lae. It kinda hurts to know that she doesn’t want me in the same way that I want her, but it’s also nice knowing that her concern for my well being, is why she insists upon not monopolizing me. I’m not really sure how I feel about this, it’s confusing.
I did want to make a harem when I originally chose to become Lae’s assistant, but I’ve just not met anyone other than Lae I really like. Creating a harem of people I don’t actually care a whole lot about, would just be mean… not that I’m even sure I could. I’ve found I’m not as good at seduction as I thought I would be, even with the help of shapeshifting and a few other cheats.

James’ view
Noisy angels, a war in the distance, an army hell-bent upon eradicating all monsters… what are you doing, Lae? The most meaningful thing you’ve done since you arrived is summon me! Trying to avoid notice is dumb and silly, you gain power from worship, and you need power to survive here! … plus, if enemies come, I kinda can’t flee.
Thus, I conclude that for the sake of my own safety, I need to spread the word of Lae! Alan apparently has some undies of her to sell. A better idea: Have Lae make undies and give them away for free! Free with pamphlets proclaiming the glory of worshipping Lae! Worship with sex! Worship with porn! Worship with sexy underwear!

Alan the innkeeper’s view (... is being an innkeeper really a major identifying trait at this point?)
James has a good point. The specific underwear Lae gave me might be hard to get a buyer for, but functional underwear could be a major selling point for Lae’s church (when we get around to making one). I went around town and put together a wish list of things people want underwear to do. Some were silly enough that I figured I should ignore them (transforming into full-body armor?) but I ended up writing it all down and handing it to Lae to see what she could do anyway.

Lae’s view
Well, this is interesting, super underwear? There’s a couple basic things in here that should be simple enough to include and make always part of it, like self-cleaning, and fully able to handle unpleasant monthly events women deal with… which I thankfully haven’t had to deal with since entering this world.
As for the crazier ideas, I think I can make it so the capabilities of the underwear can improve over time. The issue there is going to be figuring out the user interface for handling the upgrades. I don’t want to make intelligent underwear, and I need to keep the costs down if I’m going to make as many as I think I need to… no, I need to make something that can make them, rather than making them myself. Making them myself would limit growth much more than having something else make them. I should talk with James about this.

“Rather than building a physical facility to spread them, wouldn’t it be faster to make use of dreams? Dreams and desires are linked conceptually already, so having your religion spread through dreams would fit well. You want people dreaming of sex with monsters, in both meanings of the word ‘dreaming’, right?”
James had a rather insightful idea. Kinda makes me wish I was the one to think of it.
“I guess that means I need to summon another dream demon then. One with the task of spreading the faith.”
***Author Note***
Annabelle is the first intelligent monster Lae summoned. She exists within dreams, and works as a therapist to try and mitigate the damage caused by loss of demon advisors in the world. She was created/summoned in chapter 13.
