Priest of Light’s view (from within the human army in demon lands)
The land has changed. It happened overnight. Strange tendrils grow from the ground everywhere not touched by our holy light. They seem to actively be obscuring our view and making it difficult to navigate. It is clear now that we need to return to our homes as the oracles have spoken of trouble there. Yet, we cannot seem to find our way. The demons and monsters have mostly stopped attacking, but if we cannot find our way back, it won’t matter much. We cannot win a war if we cannot even reach the battlefield.
We can summon food and water as needed to avoid starving and our holy light prevents sneak attacks (not that there have been any recent attempts), but the sky has been blocked off. Whatever is up there is beyond the reach of our light. It has to be deliberate. Something the monsters have done to hinder us. The demon lands have never been safe for us, but this is new.
When we were lost in the misty forest, we were able to seek out the demon responsible and slay them, clearing the mist. This though, this isn’t simply the work of a demon. There is something divine at work here. It is a terrifying thought, but the obvious explanation is that a new god of monsters has been born, and we are in their territory. If we are to win, we must learn more about this god, and its weaknesses.

Soldier of Light’s view
New orders have come. Since we can’t seem to find our way, instead of wandering blindly like we have been, it’s time to setup for long term occupation of the land we are on. Building a temple is the first step to creating a new holy land.
After the mages finished a rough construct of earth and stone, an altar was placed inside (we’d been bringing a few with us in our supply wagons) and then we began to make offerings. By sacrificing the crystals harvested from monsters we’d empower this place and empower our god, our light.

Monster Scout’s view
I’d been keeping watch over the human army without much concern, as it was clear they’d stopped trying to advance. Sure, they were building something, but what could they do trapped here? If they actually left their camp, there’d be ample warning, and there’s no way they’d spot me before I can escape to warn others.
However, my relaxation abruptly ended when I saw a bright flash of light, followed by the appearance of a small army of strange looking angels. They looked almost like monsters, except for that holy glow and giant feathered wings. Immediately, I took off to warn my tribe. The war wasn’t over yet.
As I ran, the ground seemed to tremble underfoot. It was strange. Somehow it felt like the very land itself was angry.

Lae’s view
Something changed, I could feel it. I wasn’t sure what, but I felt a bubbling anger. Vivian noticed, but I didn’t know what to tell her. I didn’t know why I felt so angry, but somehow, I knew the direction the cause was in. How could that be?
“It’s okay, Lae. Whatever is troubling you, we’ll figure it out. There’s no lack of people willing to help. We love you, Lae.”
I accepted her embrace and tried to assemble words to give her.
“Something happened. Something bad. Something terrible. I don’t know how I know, I just do.”
“I’ll talk to Ophelia, I’m sure we can figure something out.”

Maggie’s view
What? I thought I’d settled this. Never did I imagine the human god would do such a thing! Here in the demon king’s castle, I can watch over all of the demon lands, and so I was able to see clearly what that human god did.

Such glorious evil. A pity Dark isn’t here to enjoy the show. They would’ve loved to see the human god stoop to such levels. Forcibly converting monsters into Angels, overwriting their personalities with holy light. This kind of complete and total domination is so very classic villany! Dark would be so proud of you, Light. So proud.
We aren’t working for Dark anymore.
Oh, right. Lae hates this, doesn’t she?
Deprivation of choice and freedom is pretty high on her list of abominable things.
… I suppose this means I need to do something about it.
Not like you can. All you do is watch.
I cast the spell that let Lae’s power seep into the very land of our demon territory!
Okay, you did one thing. Can you do a second? I very much doubt it.
Oh yeah?! I’ll show you! I’ll do an amazing thing! … once I figure out what it is.
***Author Note***
How well does the army do in subjugating the demon lands? 5… so last chapter Light rolled a 2 and now they roll a 5? These dice are clearly biased against the light.
Are they able to find a weakness to exploit in the conflict? 10… that means I have to decide if they get a net bonus or penalty… I’m not actually sure. Maybe I’ll just roll again to decide that (Light god should have the benefit of experience, but the hindrance of dealing with something very new so I feel like either is equally likely).
Is Light good (high roll) or bad (low roll) at finding weaknesses to exploit? 4… this army is so doomed. Feels a little anticlimactic for the army to fall to something as basic as loss of resources (the church of light losing worshippers in human lands) and getting lost.
Hmmm… one last chance. Does the human god employ their last resort? 14. That should be enough to not be wiped out entirely. Had they rolled low, that’d mean fighting to the bitter end.
Does sacrificing monsters even work? 14
Death (low) or “purification” (high)? 17

Psst, Lae you’re supposed to be the main character. Do something!
“Don’t wanna.”
You’re a god of this world now, you need to take care of it!
“My priests can handle that.”
… dang it, Lae… Maybe Maggie can do something? This story is getting so weird.
