42: Maggie’s disappointment

Maggie’s view

While I was disappointed by the war ending so peacefully, it did seem like the kind of ending our new god prefers. Everyone just peacefully lives their own lives without disturbing each other. I did at least build a barrier to prevent the human god from disturbing us too much. I even managed to make it block the Angels! No more Angel Advisors in our land! Well, it’s not perfect, I think if a worshipper of Light got through the barrier somehow, their angel would too. Good enough though.

Still, it feels weird to realize the war has ended, and somehow everyone lost. We lost our homeland, and the human god lost their homeland too. Much of humanity still lives there, though I have no idea which side has a larger percentage of what’s left.

One thing that keeps making me confused though, is how the current god of light is so insistent upon obedience, yet wants to rule over humans. It just seems like a really foolish thing. The difficulty of controlling humans is one of the main reasons to use them. Maybe there’s some weird interaction with divinity I don’t know about. Assuming I can understand what’s going on in the minds of gods is probably foolish.

Watching over the migration to human lands, and seeing how well they are able to settle in, has been a bit of a shock. I don’t really understand how Lae was able to change human culture so quickly. Though I do hear rumors now and then about a lot of people dying? So maybe it wasn’t miracle working but just plain old religious warfare ending with dissidents leaving or dead. I have a feeling Lae would be sad if I told her about it, so I’ve not done so.

Thankfully, I’m not alone anymore, and do have some friends to talk to. One of them is convinced the change in culture was due to sex addiction. Something about a single night of Lae’s love being enough to leave one unconcerned with such things as whether someone is human or not. I’m not really sure what all the appeal is.

“You’re an eyeball. You have no sexual organs. Of course you’re confused, you’re completely asexual!”

… I suppose Alpha is probably right about that. Magic eye reproduction isn’t the sort that one finds pleasant usually. It involves stealing eyes from others, and magically enchanting them with life. Monsters like me will probably disappear entirely someday. We don’t really fit within Lae’s lands.

Well, I’ll probably enjoy watching over everything for quite a while, so I’m not going to go away any time soon.
