You're old enough to understand that saying sorry won't help if the person doesn't genuinely mean it, so why apologize in the first place?
There wasn't much you could have done; it just happened, and you are solely to blame. Regardless of what you do, they will never forgive you; they may say they do, but they will still harbor resentment.
Therefore, despite your best efforts, why bother? Why fight when all you accomplish is harm someone who is already suffering?
Why even try if you don't deserve and don't desire their forgiveness? It will only serve to make you look like a liar and a hypocrite in their eyes, which will hinder their capacity to recover from the terrible harm you caused.
Do you have any idea what you did?
I'll take that as a no...
This mania started at least a year ago on the day of the terrible incident when you were out having fun with our friends and some delicious meal as you were making your way home.
The sun was pleasantly shining down on your skin, the sky was clear, and there were no clouds in sight. You had just taken a brief break to enjoy some fresh air on the bridge when all of a sudden, something attracted your eye.
The corpses lay calmly in the water beneath the brown bridge; their bodies appeared to be floating in the river solely for repose rather than being sucked under by the current.
As you gazed transfixedly at the horrific scene below, it caused the hair on your skin to stand up and gave you shivers. However, everything vanished as if it were an illusion the instant you blinked your eyes, leaving a book as the lone floating object.
It didn't appear to be moving and appeared to be waiting for you to come down to collect it, so you carefully made your way down, but you hesitated because everyone was watching you when you reached its vicinity and reached for the book, On first glance, it didn't seem damaged—just wet—but upon closer study, it appeared to be covered with dried blood.
You gingerly grabbed hold of it and opened it to discover that the pages were blank. As you turned each page until you came to the last one, you spotted a date and a name that you are familiar with neatly written on it in the most exquisite writing you have ever seen.
But the date gave you heart palpitations...
And the name was none other than Asmodeus, one of the deadliest demons to have ever existed and the demon of lust, whom you may have learned about in a bible study at your local church or via the internet, family, or school.
Our friends appeared to have left you behind as you swiftly closed the book, climbed out of the water, and re-entered the bridge. Despite this, they didn't appear to be at all concerned about you because they appeared to believe that you would catch them before they returned home
One friend, though, lingered behind and grabbed you by the shoulder, making you jump.
