Chapter 7: Chapter 6 – Azula’s Defeat

Azula, Zuko, Ty Li, and Nuwa head off to the kids section of the resort. Azula holds Nuwa’s hand and starts skipping around. Nuwa feels a strange discontinuity between the stone cold killer of canon and the little girl. She starts overestimating herself thinking things like, ‘What if I can make the difference? What if all that’s standing between this little girl and that broken woman is me?’

‘I should expect no better from that one-track mind AI in my head.’

“Of course not, I’m going to do this the old fashioned way with talk no jutsu!”

The group starts playing with some sandcastles.

Nuwa tries to make small talk, “How old are you guys?”

Zuko says 8 and Azula says 7.

Nuwa cheerfully rambles, “Your mom is really pretty. You’ll definitely grow up to be a beautiful lady just like her, Azula.”

Azula sputters in momentary bashfulness, “Hmph, what can she do? She’s weak. She can’t bend.”

Zuko, the momma’s boy, starts getting mad and is about to blow a gasket.

Nuwa stealthily chi-blocks his vocal cords, which Ty Li watches in horror, before coming up close to Azula and giving her a big hug. “She may be weak, but she can give you lots of love like this, right? Does your dad give you kisses, hm?”

Azula taps out as Nuwa covers her face in baby kisses.

Her face slowly morphs into the kind of expression that screams, “WHAT GAVE YOU THE AUDACITY TO BESMIRCH MY FACE WITH YOUR LIPS, PEASANT?” but before she can get it out, Nuwa chi-blocks her arms and legs so she can’t bend.

At this point, Nuwa feels moderate regret and it seems like her Talk no Jutsu skills could use some work. Ty Li is shaking in fear at the possible consequences of paralyzing the Prince and Princess, when Zuko starts to silently laugh pointing at Azula. His vocal cords are still tapped out, but he’s still rolling on the floor making a laugh that sounds like a frog croaking.

Ty Li says, “S-s-sis, w-what did you do?”

Azula would have crumpled to the floor due to being unable to exert her legs, but Nuwa holds her up by the torso. She’s so surprised that Nuwa attacked her and took her out in under 2 seconds that she fails to register Zuko’s mirth.

She just looks at the sky and then at Nuwa and monologues to herself, “So this is the lesson Father had for me: always be vigilant, non-benders can take you down too.” Nuwa looks at Azula like she’s a Picasso painting.

‘Did I just talk no jutsu her into an even more deadly version of herself..? Isn’t this too much.. I was supposed to dull her edge! Aren’t I the secondary protagonist after Aang?’

As the two kiddos have an identity crisis, Ty Li quickly drags away Zuko and fixes his chi-block.

Azula looks at the two leaving kids and then at Nuwa, bows, and says, “Thank you.”

Nuwa exits her daze and gives her a smile so wide that her eyes close, “Eh you’re welcome Azula, you can always count on me! My name’s Ty Lee, but call me Nuwa.”

When Azula sees Nuwa’s big smile, she looks at Nuwa with a glint of greedy possessiveness, which she quickly hides under a stoic face when Nuwa’s eyes open again.

Nuwa and Azula build a sand castle in silence for another 20 minutes before Azula orders, “Nuwa, you’ll be my sparring partner from now on. I train everyday so you’ll be living with me from now on. You will be compensated adequately.”

Nuwa thinks, ‘Ok! More time to seduce Zuzu and help Azula.’ “No problem, you can always count on me!”

Azula grins and says, “I already know that.”

Nuwa laughs, jumps up, and starts running and says, “Catch me if you can!”

Azula looks amusedly at her and lobs a blue fire bomb thing over Nuwas head which somehow spreads in all three directions that don’t lead to Azula.

Nuwa looks admiringly at Azula’s awesome control over her bending and claps with excitement. Azula is once again surprised and intrigued by the fact that Nuwa does not fear her even though she has her bending back. ‘Is she dumb? But she’s also quite strong. She took away my movement for 3 minutes and my bending for 15 minutes. I periodically attempted to bend and it only now worked.’

After seeing the beautiful flames fizzle out, Nuwa gets scared at her lack of safety equipment when dealing with a psychotic bitch like Azula.

Azula sees Nuwa’s delayed fear, realizes that she’s just a ditz like what happened in the throne room earlier, and starts laughing heartily.

Nuwa looks back at Azula confused, but laughs along as she asks [System] about good fire-proof equipment from the [Shop] for her spars with Azula.

Nuwa felt that she could ‘equip’ her shield or blade at any time even though they were not present in her [Inventory]. ‘So this is the feeling of soulbound equipment. I can sense the properties of each weapon clearly. The shield is made of tightly bound vibranium filaments that lock together and can retract back into the vambrace. It’s fully extended form grows depending on the soul power circulated, currently it is about as wide as my shoulder-width, but instead of being rounded, it parts down the middle like a wedge.

The [Hidden Blade - Hook] aka hookblade functions just like in Assassin’s Creed where it can zip down lines, assist in parkour, grapple and throw people, and includes a retractable blade. The main disadvantage of my current loadout is that there are no mid or long-range features and the components are only steel so it can be damaged with regular use.’

“[System], how much would it cost to upgrade my [Hidden Blade - Hook] to vibranium?”

‘I wonder which upgrade I should get for it first: vibranium or gun/dart functionality? I’ll see what I need when the time comes around. I would have a lot more LEE if my parents didn’t kick me out of their nightly sessions when I turned 3.’
