We finally got to the shelter door and entered the code and manual overrides. All the information put into our heads by Eterna was useful. Eterna had stated that she could only give us information about this world because we had 30 days left in this world. I wondered if that had to do with a karma rule or some other weird rule related to the multiverse. Getting all this information literally meant we could dominate the alien invaders easily, or even if the world had been normal we could control everything as long as we knew who was in control behind the scenes.
Information is a powerful tool when used in conjunction with ability and weapons, and the right information can provide enough planning ahead to stop the other side from being able to fight back. Killing these aliens was a textbook example.
Robin moved over to the control pads. I could sense the alien women inside and they were scared since the cameras could see us working on opening the shelter. Bo’olin was the only name I knew because she was the one sleeping with the alien commander Ark’Ovar. She stood in front of the group shielding them, which was somewhat noble behavior. At least the aliens cared about their own kind and weren’t totally heartless.
Robin: “Eterna even gave us the proper codes.”
Robin then entered the codes and the control pad allowed the override to proceed.
The doors were opening. Inside the gray skinned alien women huddled up into a corner as far from the doors as they could. I already knew they looked human like through senses, but watching them afraid made me pity since they were essentially defenseless. They wouldn’t be able to pick up the gun the males of their species carried because their bodies were too small in comparison.
Kevin: “I’m thinking we shouldn’t be to mean to them.”
Robin: “Not be mean? Why?”
Kevin: “They’re going to have to learn how to speak the human language if they’re going to mate, and they’re going to be a lot of troubles ahead. Why make it more difficult? We can just make them leave and then make sure none of the technology here can be used again. I don’t think the females in their society do much except give birth and take care of the young.”
Robin stared at me while the doors continued to open at the snails pace.
Robin: “Fine I’ll let you handle it.”
Robin sighed.
Kevin: “You wanted to see me have sex with one of them didn’t you?”
Robin: “Without me lying through my teeth, the answer is yes. It’s just after what we talked about in not having sex with others unless they’re fated women or to increase the spirit capacity… I realize we shouldn’t do it even if I want to watch. A moments pleasure isn’t worth all the other crap that might come with forgetting our established boundaries.”
I was glad to hear that. Exclusivity is what makes a relationship… well… at least poly exclusivity in our case… but it’s what allows for a certain trust… maybe… I don’t know anymore… relationships are complex but right now I’m glad Robin is my partner in all of this
Robin: “Kevin, you take care of them. Talk to them and send them off. I’ll go away because I still can’t forgive their race for doing what they did to ours.”
Kevin: “I’ll take care of it then.”
Robin left the room as the doors opened and they saw me standing in front of them. The gray skinned females looked like human woman but with different coloration. Except for the silver eyes, gray skin color and hair color that humans in this world did not have… Green, purple, blue… and it was their natural hair color based on what I could perceive.
Kevin: “Bo’olin, you’re their leader now right?”
Bo’olin was standing in front of her group. All the rooms were opened with 100 of them separated into five groups huddled into the corners of their respective shelters. They were wearing their skin tight alien clothing that had a slight aluminum shine. I could see there was fear in their eyes. All of them were surprised when I spoke to them in their own tongue.
Bo’olin: “You… native inhabitant, what will you do with us?”
Kevin: “All your males are dead. This means you can’t reproduce a pure bloodline anymore. I made sure to destroy the part of their bodies that can give you children. Your only option now is to mate with the native males on here if you want to produce offspring, or let all your genetic code die out”
Bo’olin: “You want us to mate with you? You want us to bear you children? Human males are not big enough! But… if it is for our survival we have no choice.”
I shook my head at her mentioning about me being the one to impregnate them. Robin was in the other room listening in and I could hear her telepathic voice in my head.
Robin: “Hahaha, if any of them are tempting I don’t mind. I’ll just watch from here.”
Kevin: “No, I’m not interested. We can’t gain anything from them anyway. I’m going to send them off like we talked about.”
I took a deep breath, I mean… if the aliens want to give it up should I really just… no forget it.
Kevin: “Not interested. I’m going to stay here and finish my task, but all of you must leave here and never return. If you can find a human settlement, learn the language and blend in then you may be able to preserve your race since our DNA is compatible.”
Bo’olin: “What will we do when they learn our race was responsible for the death of so many of them?”
Kevin: “Don’t tell them. Just tell them that you fought against the oppressive race that wanted to do that. None of them were here so none of them would know. Just find some males of the human race who are interested in gray skinned women like yourself and you should be fine.”
I mean… people had different colored skin so it shouldn’t be so bad right? I don’t know, it’s not my problem anymore. I don’t want to deal with any of it.
Bo’olin: “So you will let all of us live if we leave and have the children of the males of your species?”
Kevin: “No you don’t have to have children. I was just telling you that you can’t return here, that was just an option. It was not a requirement.”
Bo’olin: “So we don’t have to reproduce your kind?”
Kevin: “You do not.”
I wasn’t going to try and force a female to have sex against her will. Other monsters might do that but I’m not one of them. Alien, human or whatever race of beings we might encounter, I will not be encouraging any sort of behavior like that.
Bo’olin: “I… thank you for letting us live…”
They were still scared to move.
Kevin: “Follow me, I’m going to take you to the transportation bay on your ship. You’re going to get into the small ships and you’re going to leave and not come back. If you come back you probably won’t live… at least don’t come back for twenty rotations around the sun.”
Bo’olin: “We will do as you say.”

The alien women started following me. I kept my senses up to make sure none of them would try to kill me when I turned my back. Unsurprisingly none of that behavior happened as I put them on a transport trolley. It took only a few minutes for all one hundred of us to reach the transportation bay. There were about ten crafts so I split them up into groups of ten and made sure there were no weapons. Each ship had enough fuel to go around the world once or twice at the most, and they could at least pilot them despite the chair being too large for them to sit in.
They would have some time to scout and deliberate where it is they would like to live. I wasn’t going to force any of those things on them. I felt a little pity for them since they were not the ones leading their own society, but regardless of who acts there are consequences for everyone else. Even if it’s not their fault they have to bear the unfair consequences of their race.
Bo’olin’s group was the last to board a transport ship to their mothership. Like the rest of them they all had a saddened and frightened expression, but it seemed they were used to being saddened and frightened.
Bo’olin: “I wish to ask you a question before I leave.”
Kevin: “Sure.”
Bo’olin: “Can you forgive our race for doing what we did to your planet and your people?”
I could sense Robin nearby and she was angry at the question. What the race did as a whole was completely unforgivable… but I took a different perspective when dealing with them.
Kevin: “Who was it that made the decision to come here and try to take this planet?”
Bo’olin: “I… it was my partner Ark’Ovar.”
Kevin: “Did you have any ability to stop him? Could you have made him choose a different planet?”
Bo’olin: “I could not. The male does what he wants to do and I cannot do anything to stop him.”
I sighed.
Kevin: “I don’t know if you realized but on our planet there are people with many different cultures and ethnicities. While we’re all the same genetic race with the same parts and mostly the same body properties, we still have many who hate each other because of differences in outer appearance. There are those who want to place blame on one group for the actions of another group in the past.”
I don’t like the aliens for what they did, but I also know that each of them is an individual. Ignorant, stupid… none of it matters. No point in holding grudges when life is too fluid.
Kevin: “I cannot forgive the deaths of billions but I do not believe you are the beings I need to seek revenge on. Those beings are already dead. You bear little responsibility, but if you really want to make it right then go find some of our males here and have children with them. The mixed race between the two can get rid of whatever hatred there is in the future. The only ones who won’t have any responsibility are the children you have since they were not alive when all of this happened.”
Bo’olin got on the transport.
Bo’olin: “I will remember what you said, benefactor.”
The door to the ship closed and the saucer took off. They were given a limited amount of fuel, the weapons were already disabled and they had some food to live for a few weeks. To survive they used the scanners on the ship properly to find an easy place to farm.
What happens now to this planet is not my responsibility. It’s almost time for Robin and I to leave anyway. I counted only a few hours left at the most.
Robin: “Kevin, the nano control device is done, I’m going to activate the shockwave. It’s too bad we can’t go and see what happens once we start it.”
Kevin: “I don’t think it matters… we did everything we could. Break the device when you’re done and let’s… let’s be together one last time in this life. Let’s go and break everything else that can be used as a weapon.
In the room where Robin had been monitoring the machine she activated the last few mechanisms to unleash the head explosion signal. The signal went out and a large wave of miasma flowed that covered the globe. Miasma covered reached all the zombies who were controlled by the nano machines.
It was a day like any other when the hordes were wandering around while groaning. The zombies had been ordered by Alien technicians to group into large numbers while there was knowledge and satellites logging the places where few surviving humans survived.
Due to the miasma affecting the large majority of people there was no safe place for initial survivors except for those who were able to isolate themselves. When the new wave passed with the miasma, every zombie that had been walking around had their head explode.
The blood was dry for most of the walking dead, but the pop was still loud and audible as the surviving humans who had holed up for a month observed the zombies outside suddenly die with a burst of read. Many were startled and wondering what had happened, but the death of the zombies made them feel some relief.
At Carvard, Valeria was watching from a post to see the zombies straggle on by. They had become trapped within the campus because they had no way of effectively clearing the stragglers without the guns they picked up on the way. The problem with the guns was that they would attract more stragglers.
A wave of miasma came, it flooded the campus and all the stragglers and as Valeria watched the zombie heads explode. She stared again to make sure what she was seeing was real then she realized that what Kevin had told her month ago had come true. They had taken care of the zombies.
Valeria picked up the radio.
Valeria: “Home base, come in.”
Home Base: “Yes post one? Is there a problem?”
Valeria: “The zombies are dead. I repeat home base, the zombies are all dead by head explosion. Come out to verify.”
There was pause on the other side.
Home Base: “Please repeat leader at post one. I heard you said the zombies were dead by head explosion.”
Valeria: “I know I told you to communicate a specific way but right now we can stop, come out and see the dead zombies whose heads exploded. The guy who came to gather us all here succeeded even though none of you believed it.”
Home Base: “Really?’
Valeria: “Really.”
The news was good and they came out to verify. The world would never be the same again, but with the ability to move out and start building once more, humanity had another chance.
