Chapter 37: The Feeble Monster III
.................
"Oh, that's a bit much but manageable I guess..." His response nearly drove Kureha insane!!
But she kept it in, barely, "The Killing of a king is a great offense, and the blame will fall entirely on you all, so be prepared..."
"Oh, you killed a king?" Yovan questioned as he surveyed his surroundings more thoroughly before starting to do some stretching, feeling a bit too stiff.
His movement made Kureha wonder how he can move because his body condition certainly doesn't allow that. A guess slowly emerged in her mind, making her eyes glisten in a bit of shock.
"Huh, it seems that I missed quite a lot," Yovan listened carefully to Laffitte's recounting of the event before frowning as he eyed his body, seeing himself only adorned in white pants, "It's very cold..."
Swiftly, one of Capone's subordinates delivered new winter clothes to him, "Well, thank you." Yovan turned his attention to Kureha, giving her his thanks.
Whatever decency she saw in him at that point was thrown out of the window as he turned around and started walking out, "Let's leave. We've wasted enough time."
And so, they left with the box of medicine, leaving Kureha feeling a bit frustrated, especially noting Yovan's slow steps. He has definitely not recovered at all.
He seemed extremely feeble as if he was on the brink of falling down, but he should be dead, so the fact that he was moving about... He's a feeble monster.
This was one of the only times Kureha betrayed her code of conduct and allowed a patient some free will to hurt themselves, and she doesn't really know why she did it.
Perhaps she saw the fire of survival in him even in his sleep? Or perhaps because she had to considering their psychopathic tendencies? Or she knew they would've awakened him one way or another, so she chose the safest way to wake him up.
Whatever it was, she could only let out a sigh as she watched their ship sail away, a flagless ship.
"I see..." Yovan had Laffitte tell him everything all over again. This time, however, he had his notebook out, writing down every bit of information that seemed important.
Only once he wrote down everything did he start revising it to refresh his memory because the Drum Island sounds very familiar.
'The execution of Gol D. Roger happened about 21 years ago,' As he mused through his memories, Yovan revisited some of the information he wrote down long ago, 'So there is just about a year before Luffy starts his journey?'
'Was Drum Island one of the Islands he visited? If so, did I screw up how things should be? Does it matter? No, only survival matters.' Yovan closed his eyes, coming to a conclusion that gave him peace of mind.
Speaking of survival, however, Yovan manifested Limitless before his eyes, staring at it with a bit of a frown.

[Countdown]
Yovan noted something as he surveyed Limitless. The limits of his physical capabilities continue to improve despite his stats lowering due to his condition.
And that's despite not really focusing on training his physique simply because he can not. He attributed the slow but constant improvement to the massive increase in his Devil Fruit Mastery.
His Endurance was especially on the rise, mostly because it has to, not only because of his Zoan Devil Fruit but also because of what his body was going through.
Another peculiar thing he noticed, and perhaps a positive of Limitless is the fact that his improvement didn't slow down one bit like he has no limits.
That's further made impressive by something Yovan noticed. The power held within the stats 0-100 is a bit lower than the power held in 101-200 which is why others' progress usually slows down as they become stronger. That doesn't seem to apply to him though.
'But...' Once his eyes lined up with his lifespan... Well, Kureha was right, he has less than twenty years left to live.
Yovan's eyes were very calm as he looked at his lifespan almost like it was irrelevant. He knows deep in his heart that it's actually irrelevant even if it goes lower.
If he survives the next test of Limitless, then he'd be very happy. He feels like he's less than a year away from death, so why care about twenty years into the future?
If he just survives, then there are bound to be ways to fix his dwindling lifespan.
And everything he's doing is basically in preparation for the end of the Countdown, an example being their current destination, Water 7.
One of the very first things Yovan did after arriving in this world was writing down everything of importance about this world, things he remembers lest his terrible memory fails him.
Drum Island wasn't of importance in his eyes, but Water 7 seems different. It's his last destination before heading directly to Boin Archipelago.
Capone Bege had already bought several Eternal Poses leading to various locations, one of them being Water 7.
Water 7, known as the Capital of Water, is a city in Paradise known for its shipwrights. It was Yovan's goal, a very important goal especially after seeing that he was titled as the Captain of the Stranger Pirates.
However, "You're the unluckiest person I've ever seen or heard of... Like, how?" Capone Bege couldn't help but shake his head in a bit of disbelief.
They were sailing towards Water 7 for a while with minimal hindrance, just very chaotic weather, and violent waves. That all changed as the sound of thunder reverberated throughout, followed by lightning.
And it didn't stop there. No, the weather only went on to become even more Chaotic, and almost every spark of lightning seemed to be targetting the ship.
Pure destruction would've been the poor ship's fate if Yovan wasn't protecting it with thick shields of feathers. The intensity of the lightning however was getting out of hand.
So the ship ended up suffering a bit, but that wasn't even the end of it! The ocean suddenly became very unsettling, seemingly rising as if a tsunami was forming.
If only it was that simple. The source of the anomaly was two colossal beasts so big they dwarfed the ship.
Both looked very odd as one looked like a rainbow-colored Parrot with a thing long beak, its eyes bulging from its frame just like its fellow Sea King who looked more like an Owl, its yellow eyes taking most of the space of its face, leaving only a small part for its curved smiling mouth.
"Are you cursed or something?! Or is your Devil Fruit sucking the luck out of you?" The Don Bege had to complain again before shaking his head, "Laffitte!"
"Yes Sir!!" Laffitte not only understood what Bege wanted to do, but he also jumped on the occasion to hold him by his blazer yet again.
"NO! NO NOooo!!! I'll Kill you, I swear!!"
Yovan was left alone, contemplating his life, Is my luck so bad because I gave up on Goddess Tyche?
Whatever it was, he had to focus on taking care of the Owl Seak King while they took care of the other somehow.
He not only had to focus on keeping the lightning from destroying their ship, but he also had to focus on dealing with the Sea King as it dove upon the ship, trying to suck it in its smiling mouth.
Not for long though as what Yovan was preparing soon came into fruition, far above the Owl Sea King was a dark sword made entirely of feathers, assembled in such a way to make it extremely sharp, just not as sharp as a real sword.
"Sword Of Desperation!!" Fast as a blur, the sword pierced directly through the Sea King's skull, declared dead almost instantly though its curved mouth forming a twisted smile remained as a sign.
Yovan saw it as the Sea King laughing at what he went through, and what he'll surely go through... It was a gorgeous picture he dearly wanted to paint.
