Chapter 59: Awakening!!
.................
"And it will be all safeguarded in the treasures that are paintings... Oh, right. I just thought of a way to make my crew's tortu... Training harsher."
Yovan frowned, stroking his chin right before Hancock's confused eyes, "I went on a tangent, didn't I? I don't know exactly why any of this really happened, but I feel good."
The guy even nodded at her, looking almost grateful, "It's probably because of how much of a loser you are, it made me realize how fucking fabulous I am... I think I'm falling in love."
Perhaps it was truly because of that. Perhaps Yovan's actions and Hancock's actions made him feel a certain way.
Or perhaps it was just overcoming all the pressure she was putting on him, especially her conqueror Haki.
He was trying to get on her nerves again, but it wasn't working as Hancock was even more intent on eliminating him.
However, she didn't attack. She even leaped backward to stand on a frozen feather, very much out of Yovan's control.
Her eyes traced themselves around Yovan's body. His dark wings seem to be much larger. The source of the feathery lines all over his body were exactly his wings.
The feathery lines were like cracks on his frail dead skin, making him look even more ominous than he already is, especially as they traveled to his eyes, making them entirely dark.
"I'm somewhat grateful, but I will not be kind. I feel like I want to make you suffer a bit to make myself feel better though you don't have to worry, my crew will also suffer a bit if that was of any consolation to you."
She remained wary as she blew a kiss at Yovan. It was weird no matter how many times he sees it.
They're beating each other, yet she's flirting with him. He was almost blushing with how much he wanted to draw that scene.
His ego was very much getting inflated as he dived into his own delusions. Imagine a painting of Hancock all bloody and messed up, yet despite that, his grandeur still made her try to hit on him.
"Ahem, I'm losing myself a bit... Scatter." Yovan murmured as he dissipated into numerous feathers, thus evading her heart bullets.
[Devil Fruit: Kakin Kakin no Mi, Model: Crow (Awakened): 970/∞]
He broke through the 69 mark. All he seemingly needed was a change in mentality, or perhaps an evolution.
Hancock frowned. She was certain his Devil Fruit is a Zoan type, but what he had just done was something only possible by Logia users as far as she knows.
As a whole, Devil Fruits encompass hundreds of different powers, from the (apparently) mundane to the inherently mass-destructive.
These fruits are broadly grouped into three classes: Paramecia, which offers a vast array of strange abilities; Zoan, which allows users to transform into animals or animal hybrids; and Logia, which grants users the power to become and control natural elements.
And now, he did something way beyond just transforming into his beast or hybrid form. He scattered into feathers, something very similar to how Logias work.
Hancock took a deep breath as she hardened the Heart Bullets around her with Armament Haki.
She then fired them at the fleeting feathers, but nothing happened much to her surprise.
Armament Haki can be used to injure Devil Fruit users that are otherwise immune to ordinary physical attacks, such as Logia users.
How can a normal person injure fire for example? The same can be applied to these feathers floating about.
She did the same again and focused thoroughly on sensing her surroundings. She felt something, a change happening the moment she attacked a specific feather, but she still didn't understand it at all.
She remained wary, tense, and even afraid as the feathers moved towards her, slowly but surely. She did her best to keep her distance from them, but there were too many.
Until finally she sensed it clearly but couldn't react to it. She sensed Yovan appeared from a single feather behind her, his hand already coming close to her skin, and all she could do was protect herself with Armament Haki.
He appeared way too fast, sending a shockwave through her back before vanishing again in a burst of feathers.
Those feathers would later mix with all of the other feathers in the surroundings as they started moving about.
It happened again and again, leaving Hancock a mess, but she was still able to hold on with her Armament Haki.
However, she ever more fearful as she noticed his mastery of his new ability rising, making it even more hellish for her.
And the problem was that she quickly figured out how it works, but she fell into despair realizing she couldn't do anything about it.
Yovan supposedly scatters into numerous feathers, but in reality, he's just one of those feathers, but to find that specific feather would be akin to trying to find a needle in a haystack.
If that wasn't already monstrous enough, she noticed that even when her Heart Bullets find that specific feather, he seemingly can appear from another feather, basically teleporting.
However, she noticed a limitation. If the original feather is discovered, he'd have to appear from another feather regardless of the circumstances.
He can not hide in any other feather as he will be forced to emerge from it... But what do those observations do to her exactly? How do they help her deal with him? They don't.

It was especially troublesome considering she really doesn't know the range of his feather teleportation.
So she just had to stand there and take a beating without being able to fight back at all.
She was in despair, and that somehow strengthened her Conqueror Haki to the point even Yovan could feel his head in a bit of pain.
Yet he ignored it, using Kiryu Hasshoken to continuously damage her inside out no matter how little that damage was.
If he takes the time to construct a shockwave ball, he would certainly be able to kill her, but that'd take hours, and he doesn't need to do that. Instead, he was training his Hasshoken and Awakening.
[Awakening: The ability to scatter into feathers, the user's true form being one of the feathers. All of the feathers in the user's perception can act as a portal to appear from.]
If Yovan felt anything about beating her up to such a degree, he showed exactly how he felt as he continued to use her as a training dummy until finally.

Yovan's hybrid form emerged before a kneeling Hancock. He lifted his hand, feeling a bubble of shockwave forming around it relatively quickly. He breached another limit.
"I feel..." Yovan frowned, closing his eyes to sense himself. He felt different, stronger, but also weaker. He felt like he was standing by sheer will alone because he realized that his awakening is extremely taxing.

One look at Limitless made him want to laugh. His lifespan went down again despite the monstrous increase in his endurance.
An awakened Zoan gains far greater strength, speed, and durability than those with unawakened Zoan powers. This especially includes a faster recovery rate and monstrous regeneration.
Yet not even that could save the feeble monster that is Yovan. His lifespan decreased. His physique and agility were abysmal. And it was all because he pushed himself way too much, like always.
However, Zoan Awakenings come with a risk of the innate nature of the fruit's respective animal consuming the user, causing them to become simple-minded beasts.
Yovan, however, didn't seem to feel a thing as he crouched to Hancock's level with a playful smile.
"I'm very unlucky, but I also see the luck of others... I see your crew's ship drowning, each of your people struggling to reach the surface as something dark pulled them down and down... If you guess what that is right, perhaps their luck will change."
"D-Don't you dare!!!?" Hancock eyed him with hateful eyes, grasping for breath herself with pain.
"Yahahaha," Yovan let out an amused laugh, "Your reaction is funny." Perhaps the crow in him affected him a bit?
Either way, Yovan knocked her out very normally. He carried her very normally, and flew into the distance along with his mask and cape, ignoring her desperate crew.
They had been trying to break through the barrier of feathers for ages, but his feathers were seemingly infinite as they could only cry their heart out at the pool of blood left behind by their battle.
If it was of any consolation, they weren't the only crew that was suffering as Yovan landed on Seizon No Hono while making sure to hide Hancock's appearance with feathers just in case.
Finding his ship wasn't difficult because in one of its chambers was something akin to a beacon, numerous feathers, and to a certain extent, he can sense his feathers.
The faraway feathers, he can only sense their general direction, but that wasn't enough to reach his Ship, finding his crew in very sinful positions.
Capone Bege was drinking with his men, seeming to be drunk out of his mind. Laffitte was tortu... playing with a seagull.
Kalifa was doing absolutely nothing, just sitting on the crow's head in a daze. It's his personal place for christ's sake!!
Kaku, on the other hand, was trying to appease a lazy Antarisa, trying to find one animal that doesn't hate him.
It all made Yovan's face twitch into a wonderful smile, "Ladies and Gentlemen!! I just found you a new tortu... Training device!!"
"... AKHam?? Booooze???!" Bege mumbled something incoherently.
"Can I train this with it?" Laffitte wondered, pointing to the seagull.
"Mommy Antarisa!! Save me, please!!" Kaku was... Ahem, perhaps drunk also?
