Chapter 87: The World Is About To Enter A New Era III
.................
Because of how World Nobles view commoners as nothing more than objects that they can freely do whatever they want with, this supports and legalizes a booming slave trading industry that caters to their desires, a practice that is normally banned in the rest of the world.
As a result, the mangrove is home to many kidnapping gangs and bounty hunters who do business with the trade.
The Human Auctioning House is one of such centers of slave trade and a bidding house for selling living beings as slaves, located on Sabaody Archipelago's Grove 1.
'Oh God no!! Please God Help me!!!!' Someone that's definitely not the green boy screamed in their mind.
That same green-haired person was now crying as he found himself in a cage.
"Why are you crying, green boy?" Yovan couldn't help but wonder. He was also in a cage, chained to its steel bars, "And what the fuck are you doing here, Laffitte?"
"..." Laffitte was also chained in a cage facing Yovan's cage though he was rather silent as he eyed Yovan up and down, "Cap, do you by any chance lean that way?"
"Huh?" Yovan arched his brow, "No, but green boy does." He then shrugged after understanding the question.
"Green boy? You mean the crybaby? But he's ugly." Laffitte shook his head as he continued to intensely stare at Yovan.
"Hey! That's not nice... He's beautiful inside. You'll just have to cut him open to see!" Yovan absolutely disagreed. He especially didn't like Laffitte's rudeness.
"You have a point, but on another note Cap, do you happen to know of any Devil Fruit that can replicate things? Like, for example, replicating you, just for scientific purposes of course!" Laffitte inquired with hope.
"Hm?" Yovan's eyes lit up much to Laffitte's surprise, "Actually a good idea. What if I replicate many times to make sure everyone is working hard? My replicas could even think of ways to tortu... To help you work hard!!!"
"Ahem!" Laffitte choked on nothing, sweat pouring from his face. He realized he dug himself a grave, "Cap, why are you here?" His only salvation was Distractions, one of the greatest forces.
"To measure my value, you know? Wanted to see how much I'd sell for." Yovan released a smile as he added, "And I heard this place is very rich."
"Oh, I forgot we're very poor right now... Bege has everything," Laffitte just realized.
"Wait, why are you here?" Yovan asked with confusion.
"I... I... Well, it isn't that weird actually," Laffitte murmured, but still hesitated, "I heard that World Nobles are sadists, so I wanted to see if they'll be susceptible to my beauty and turn masochists?"
"Huhuhahahahaha! Huhahahahahaha!" Someone laughed, and Yovan joined him.
"Yahahahaahahaha! So stupid! Why not just force them to turn as such? Wouldn't that be more fun?" Yovan had to wonder.
"Aghh! your taste is so bad Cap, I'm trying to prove a point! My beauty can turn anyway that way, so why haven't you turned that way yet?" Laffitte declared with passion.
"You have a point," Yovan nodded, and such words coming from him are never a good thing because all they say is that he got a meaning from your words that you didn't intend.
"I work so hard to ingrain in your mind the value of hard work, but as I see it, you feel a bit too weak, no?" If looks could kill, then Laffitte would be dead.
"Well said well said!" Someone said. The same person who previously laughed.
"See, even the old man agrees, so care to explain?" Yovan added.
Laffitte looked to be tearing up as he said with quivering lips, "Cap! I missed you so much! You won't believe how many nights I just couldn't sleep!!" Distractions, again.
"Hey!! Shut the hell up!" Their talk ended as someone entered the cage section, Disco, the owner of the Auction House.
He traced his eyes through the cage, seeming confused. Almost all of the individuals in the cages had a look of shock on their faces, sweating profusely. Above all else, there was fear.
The only wants that seem normal are Laffitte, the old white-haired man, and Yovan. Disco's eyes couldn't help but light up as he eyed Yovan.
He was quite the special specimen in his eyes, and Disco was certain that the World Nobles would pay a lot for him.

"The others are garbage, let's end it here!" Disco said before eyeing Laffitte with a frown, "Perhaps there will be someone who's into psychopaths?"
It was finally time to put the most valuable slave for sale, so his workers took Yovan and Laffitte to the stage, leaving behind a bunch of stupified individuals.
"What a dangerous young man," The white-haired old man commented with amusement. Those due were one of the most amusing individuals he had come across in a long while.
Yovan and Laffitte just talking about messing around with World Nobles. In fact, they talk about doing worse things to them. With commoners' fear of World Nobles, the Strangers' words caused them to brain freeze.
Talking about World Nobles like that means nothing but death, especially in a place like the Archipelago.
The World Nobles, also known as the Celestial Dragons, are the aristocratic descendants of nineteen of the Twenty Kings who established what is now known as the World Government.
As descendants of the creators of the World Government, the World Nobles have the highest authority within the organization.
They are free to do as they please without consequences, even commit heinous crimes, and if they are threatened in any way, they have the authority to summon a Marine Admiral to deal with the offending party.
They constantly abuse their power and look down on the people of lower status than them, referring to them as commoners; even kings and queens are lowly peasants in their eyes and are expected to bow to the whims of the World Nobles, or their whole kingdoms could face destruction.
And Yovan could see or sense just how much they look down on commoners as he was brought to the backstage, to be Auctioned like a commodity, "Good luck, Laffitte!"
Laffitte was brought first while Yovan was left with some of the workers. Looking around, this place doesn't look like a human Auction house, not with the workers wearing clown clothes.
The place was more like a circus with how colorful it was, especially with the forced smiles on the workers' faces, "Yahahahahahaha!" Perhaps that's why Yovan started laughing.
"Shut up!!" The workers screamed.
"Hundred thousand Beli!! Yahahahahahaha!" Yovan couldn't help it as his laughter reached even Laffitte himself.
He could sense and hear how much was Laffitte bought for... 100.000 Beli, and on average, a human is sold for 500.000 Beli.
And then it was Yovan's turn as he was brought on stage. However, they kept him hidden behind a white veil.
"And now!! Ladies and Gentlemen! We have the Golden gem of the month, literally, the Golden Boy!!!" Disco loudly announced as the veil was retracted, giving clear vision to a chained Yovan.
There were several lights on him, making it clear that he was truly the Golden Gem of the Month.
Yovan eyed the crowd. The stage was nice. The seats were especially nice considering World Nobles visit the place frequently, and there were some today.
He traced his vision to the two World Nobles in the Auction, noticing that they were wearing Air Helmets. The reason being that they also refuse to breathe the same air as lesser beings.
And they consider everyone but the Celestial Dragons to be a lesser species despite being humans themselves.
The Auction was packed, almost no seats were left empty, and the audience consists mainly of people of stature, even kings, but there were some Pirates and Bounty hunters to the side.
"Hundred Million Beli!" The audience was brought down to silence, not because the speaker was a World Noble, but because of Yovan's response.
"That's it?" He questioned.
"Huh?" The one who made the bid was startled. She was a lady with pink hair. Well, she was a bit too old as wrinkles were all over her face, but her hair was well kept at least.
"What?" Next to her was another World Noble, fat, bald, ugly, and on the verge of death, "You said what??!"
"As world nobles, the gods of the world, I thought you'd be richer than that, but I must be mistaken, so excuse my rashness," Yovan murmured apologetically.
"Gods?" The World Noble murmured to himself, "Yes of course we're Gods! Do you think that's all we can do, you peasant!? Hmph, Thr, no Five hundred Million Beli!!"
"Shouldn't the Goddess say it? Befitting of her statue, she should rise the price even further herself to show all of us peasants just how far above us you are!!" Yovan preached with almost a tone of worship.
"Hmph! Naturally I should say it!" The lady loudly as she stood up, lifting her hand up in the air, "Eight Hundred Million Beli!!!"
The two World Nobles basked in glory, in the stupified eyes of all of the peasants around them.
It's said that each subsequent generation of Celestial Dragons is worse than the last, becoming more and more arrogant and self-righteous. They're basically idiots, so easy to take advantage of, but none do so out of fear. Well, Yovan just did.
