The middle-aged woman smiled shyly when she heard Su Xiaonai’s compliment. She quickly took out a basket.
“Ma’am, how many boxes do you want?”
Su Xiaonai took two boxes of mung bean cookies from the cabinet, and went around for some extra flower cookies and date cakes.
The woman placed Su Xiaonai’s selection of pastries in the basket and followed her silently.
Su Xiaonai was almost done picking. She looked around and saw that there was not much else she was interested in trying.
Then, Su Xiaonai’s gaze landed on a small transparent jar and she walked over quickly.
Su Xiaonai picked it up and took a closer look. There were a lot of osmanthus flowers inside. She wanted to turn around and ask the woman about it.
Before she could say anything, the woman started explaining.
“This is our homemade osmanthus jam. It’s really good.”
Su Xiaonai nodded and placed two cans of it in the basket.
She went to pay. As the woman walked to the cashier counter, Su Xiaonai asked curiously.
“Auntie, are you the only person tending the shop?”
The woman shook her head.
“No, my husband went out to shop, and my son isn’t back yet.”
Su Xiaonai understood. Then the woman added amicably.
“Just call me Auntie Liu. Maybe you’ll come again.”
Su Xiaonai was amused.
“Alright, Auntie Liu.”
Su Xiaonai looked at the price on the screen and was a little surprised. It had turned out to be cheaper than she had expected.
After taking the bag, Su Xiaonai left the store.
She got herself a ride back home through an app on her phone.
When she got home, it was almost 10: 30 p.m. Su Xiaonai opened the door and found that the lights in the living room were off.
Only a floor lamp was turned on.
It looked like the kids were all asleep.
Su Xiaonai kept quiet as she walked to the kitchen to put things into the fridge.
When she was almost done putting things away, the door of the children’s room suddenly opened and a person walked out. Su Xiaonai was caught off guard and froze.
Seeing that it was her best friend, Gu Xunjun, she let out a long sigh.
“You scared me so badly.”
Gu Xunjun didn’t know what to say. “Are you really that jumpy?”
Both of them talked with their voices lowered, afraid that they would wake up the kids sleeping in the bedroom.
Su Xiaonai looked at Gu Xunjun and asked about the day.
“How was it? Were Mubei and Mubai good?”
Gu Xunjun shrugged as if she’d recalled something, and she let out a slightly exhausted breath.
“It was pretty hard looking after a pair of twins, especially at an amusement park.
“I feel like I’ve aged ten years. I just can’t keep up with the energy of those two.”
Su Xiaonai was amused by Gu Xunjun’s expression. She walked over, patted her shoulder, and said encouragingly.
“You’ll get used to it. I was like you before, but gradually I got numb.”
Gu Xunjun couldn’t help but roll her eyes at Su Xiaonai. She put an arm around Su Xiaonai’s shoulder and suggested.
“Since the kids are asleep, why don’t we go out and have some fun?”
Su Xiaonai was a little reluctant.
“I’m a little tired. Why don’t you go yourself?”
Gu Xunjun patted Su Xiaonai on her shoulder.
“Hey, what happened to being my ride or die friend?”
Su Xiaonai looked at Gu Xunjun for a few seconds before finally agreeing.
“I’ll go with you, but I can’t stay out too late. I don’t want Mubei and Mubai waking up in the middle of the night to find themselves alone.”
Gu Xunjun had naturally thought of this, and she patted her chest.
“Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing.”
Gu Xunjun scrolled on her phone. She’d found several bars but didn’t like any of them. She swiped until her eyes suddenly stopped.
She showed her phone to Su Xiaonai.
“How’s this one? They’ve got barbecue. The place is in the neighborhood, and it’s pretty quiet as well.”
Su Xiaonai took the phone and flipped through the information. She instantly made her decision.
“Come on, what are we waiting for?”
Gu Xunjun said, “I’ll drive my car.”
Su Xiaonai nodded. Before long, they arrived at the underground parking lot and came to a flashy red car.
That must be Gu Xunjun’s car.
Su Xiaonai followed Gu Xunjun to the red car.
She had no idea when Gu Xunjun had gotten herself a new car. She asked curiously.
“What happened to your old car?”
“It got into an accident on a highway, so I got this new one. ”
Hearing Gu Xunjun mention an accident, Su Xiaonai suddenly felt a little nervous. Worried, she quickly pulled Gu Xunjun over and examined.
“Are you okay?”
Gu Xunjun was happy Su Xiaonai cared, but she was going to be nauseous if Su Xiaonai kept swaying her back and forth. She stopped her.
“I’m fine, don’t worry.”
Su Xiaonai only stopped when she heard this.
“That’s good.”
Gu Xunjun pressed her car key and invited Su Xiaonai into the car.
“It’s getting late, so get in. Or we won’t have time for the fun stuff.”
Su Xiaonai pursed her lips and held her forehead, speechless.
Gu Xunjun was not the most cautious person.
Eight minutes later, the two of them arrived at their destination. Gu Xunjun happened to see a parking spot not taken, so she quickly parked the car.
She was afraid that someone would beat her to it. Man, she was really lucky today.
The two of them walked into the bar and followed the waiter to a table by the window.
Gu Xunjun asked for the menu, ordered a few barbecue dishes, and a glass of whiskey. She then handed Su Xiaonai the menu.
Su Xiaonai stared at the overwhelming menu for a few seconds, settling for a Margarita that didn’t contain too much alcohol.
Gu Xunjun had already ordered some barbeque dishes, so there was no need for her to order more. She was afraid that they wouldn’t be able to finish it.
It would take some time for the food to be made. Su Xiaonai and Gu Xunjun listened to the song played by the singer on stage with his guitar.
His voice was gentle and magnetic, enunciating each word clearly. There were cheers and applause. Gu Xunjun stared straight at him singing on stage and suddenly turned her head to Su Xiaonai.
“I want to go up and get his number.”
Su Xiaonai propped her head on her hand and paused. She glanced at Gu Xunjun, then at the guy on the stage, and she understood what her friend meant.
The singer wore a white shirt and was sitting on a bar stool. His long legs were wrapped in black pants and his sleeves were rolled up, revealing his muscular forearms.
He was handsome, probably a university student. At his age, he had both the maturity of a grown man and the boyishness of a teenager. He was indeed attractive.
Not to mention that Gu Xunjun had always been a sucker for beautiful people. She couldn’t help it.

Su Xiaonai wasn’t as thrilled. She nodded casually.
“Go ahead.”
Su Xiaonai teased.
“But I think you wouldn’t be the only one. Just take a look around him.”
Gu Xunjun glanced around. Indeed, she could girls whose eyes had love and affection written all over, and it was possible that she wouldn’t stand a chance..
