Ecstasy, also known as "seventh heaven," "euphoria," or "cloud nine," can be described as a state of extreme happiness, especially when feeling pleasure. Please note the correlation between those terms and today’s activity.

I entered the classroom in a casual manner, where I spotted Matsukura seemingly rubbing his hands together, reminiscent of a person plotting nothing positive.

Graham-sensei walked in right on time after the bell rang as I took my seat, as she did every day of the week.

Even though she didn’t appear to be very motivated as a teacher, Graham-sensei did manage to be on time and teach her subject, which was geography, very effectively, to the point where one would think that she was born with the knowledge preinstalled in her brain.

That’s not all; I heard that she can technically fill in for any subject teacher in this school, which is an impressive feat on its own.

Standing in front of the newly installed whiteboard, which some students believe is a step up from the original blackboard,

Whiteboards have markers that run out at inopportune times, while also leaving residue on the board that is sometimes difficult to clean off without the assistance of rubbing alcohol and a dry cloth. Also it’s a well-known fact that markers are pricier than chalk.

On the other hand, the downside of blackboards would be the chalk dust when cleaning, which can be problematic for anyone with allergies or respiratory issues, not to mention the state in which your hand becomes when holding it.

Either way, I don’t have a preference as long as the content on the board is clearly visible.

"Mid-Terms will be upon us very soon, and remember that our class has to score a bit more than the previous exam in order to not lower our class total any further."

Our teacher has been emphasizing this since the first day of the semester. The class total is calculated by adding the exam point totals of eight random students after the final exam. So all in all, every exam we take now can be considered a warm-up for the real thing.

For example, our final examinations are supposed to cover at least 10 subjects, so if the mathematics examination were to be chosen, the school would at random select 8 papers from each class and add their total together. Let’s say 50, 88, 41, 55, 78, 34, 39, and 44. (Our last exam.) All those numbers are totaled together, and then you get our representation for that exam.

So if the last test we took happened to be the final quiz of this semester, these would be the results.

(Reward) Class 1-A = 471

(Punishment) Class 1-B = 429 (our class)

(Reward) Class 1-C = 473

(Punishment) Class 1-D = 456

The top two performing classes get a reward, while the other two get a week of supplementary lessons during our vacation time.

Well, that’s how it was explained to us, and it’s the school’s attempt to ensure that each student takes the studying seriously because any one of us could be selected at random, which makes the recipients rewards and punishments basically a toss-up.

After giving us another reminder, Graham-sensei returned to her seat and got back on her cellphone.

However, I felt like half the class wasn’t listening.

Mashiro, on the other hand, jotted down the reminder and closed her notebook. If we were to use her results on the same exam eight times, our class would most definitely be safe.

I leaned my head against my hand and just observed our classmates. They seemed to be very excited about today’s afternoon class. I.e., swimming, which means the girls in our class' skin would be on display.

Some notable ones are obviously Mashiro, Chisaki, and a few others whose names I can’t remember off the top of my head right now. I won’t lie and say that part of me wasn’t looking forward to this as well. After all, I am a young, healthy, and functioning young man.

Mashiro side-eyed me and said, "I bet you’re thinking about today’s afternoon class, right?"

She caught me red-handed, almost as if she possessed telepathic abilities, but still I must steel myself and deny the statement.

"Uh, no, what even gives you that idea?"

"Oh, I can see that lewd look in your eyes."

I’d say that my eyes are pretty much innocent; there is no form of lewdness in them as of right now.

"That’s quite the leap in logic, if I do say so myself."

"Uhuhhh," she said, her dark blue eyes returning to the front.

Clearly, she didn’t believe one word or even a single letter I said.

There were few male students who didn't revel in the idea of today’s class. Namely, Shigihara, who was only fascinated by him being the top student in class; Tokinori, who just engaged in a conversation with Ikeya; and Koban Eru, who continuously slept in class. I'd include myself; that should be obvious by now.

Soon enough, it was time for the first class, and I left the room before anyone else. Matsukura and Takanawa soon followed.

Winking at me, Matsukura said, "Are you excited for this afternoon?"

A blank look appeared on my face as I replied, "What so ever could you possibly mean?"

"Don’t you give me that, Yamaguri; you know damn well what I’m speaking about."

Even though I had a fair idea of what he meant, I didn’t want to be the one to outright say it, and neither did Takawana, who just kept quiet.

A wise man, because a few girls from our class were walking just behind us.

Matsukura, once again, lacked basic spatial awareness, making conversations with him even riskier because what if someone overhears and I'm labeled as one of those guys?

This was a risk I wasn’t willing to take. I’d rather be doused in gasoline and attempt to limbo under a flaming stick, which I’m sure I could successfully pull off, but probably not. If I do fail, then I’ll just have no choice but to become a new variant of the human torch.

Speaking of the human torch, realistically speaking, if a human being were to get super powers, I don’t think that the first thing on their mind would be to stop crime; it would be to commit crime. I mean, who’s going to stop them? That's why I believe that a supervillain is more realistic than any superhero, sometimes society isn’t worth saving but what about humans?

Ah, never mind me. I’m just reading too much into things once again.
