They really only ended up watching a movie. As much as his eyes traced along the other man’s edges and he was maybe imagining what it would feel like to have those hands on other parts of him, Sun Fang knew better than to press. While Mo Cheng had never reacted negatively to his flirting, he also hadn’t seemed like he wanted to head straight for sex, so Sun Fang would rein in that part of himself.

He couldn’t remember whatever movie it was that they watched. Something that started airing on the TV at a very convenient timing. His butler delivered chips and sodas to the living room where they sat on the same couch. They didn’t sit so close on it that they touched, but there was still hardly any distance at all between them.

Sun Fang peeked at the beta out of the corner of his eyes, trying to discern what he was thinking. It was nigh impossible; Mo Cheng had one of those faces that never seemed to reveal his inner thoughts. And Sun Fang wasn’t an expert at discerning others thoughts in the first place, so it wasn’t strange that he had no idea what was going through Mo Cheng’s mind.

He didn’t pay much attention to the movie. It was a fairly old movie he had vague memories of watching before, and he wasn’t very interested in it. It was far more interesting to observe Mo Cheng’s reactions to it. Even though the movie was full of cheap jump-scares, Mo Cheng was startled every time.

Sun Fang held his tall glass of soda loosely in one hand, the other hand absentmindedly picking up chips from the bowl and delivering them to his waiting mouth. He bit them on the crunchy chips and ate them, sipping soda from the straw once he he had swallowed.

Sitting in the darkened room next to the other man, Sun Fang was painfully aware of this man. He wasn’t sure where this awareness had come from; he didn’t think it had felt like this before.

The movie was over before he knew it.

Mo Cheng yawned, his hands rising in the air above him as he stretched out. The movement caused him to bump into Sun Fang. Sun Fang only leaned closer to the other man, smirking as he asked, ”Tired?”

”Yes.” Mo Cheng rolled his neck, working out some kinks in it. He looked back at Sun Fang and smiled at him, leaning closer to him in the process. ”I’ve been up since five,” he said. ”And I haven’t eaten warm food since lunch.”

Ah, I see, my charming company is not enough to satisfy you,” Sun Fang drawled, leaning forward as well. His gaze fell to Mo Cheng’s lips, and he smirked again. They were more than close enough to touch; their faces only inches apart. Sun Fang could clearly see every part of the other man’s face, the scent of the chips they’d eaten in the air between them. He could see the flecks of gold in the beta’s eyes.

He waited to see what Mo Cheng would do.

Mo Cheng, perhaps in retaliation because Sun Fang wasn’t moving, closed the last bit of distance between them and kissed him. The kiss was soft, barely a proper kiss at all. Just a light pressure against his lips.

Sun Fang’s eyelashes fluttered. He pressed closer to the other man, his hand rising to grab Mo Cheng’s hair. The kiss slowly deepened, the contact becoming messier. Mo Cheng tilted his head and Sun Fang respond by tilting his own. He felt Mo Cheng’s hand scorching his shoulder, and he fell even deeper into the kiss. Like this, they had a much better position.

It didn’t go on forever, as much as he might have liked that. Sun Fang eventually pulled back, licking his lips as went, and smiled at Mo Cheng. Mo Cheng blinked back at him, his eyes dark and intense.

”You need to eat,” Sun Fang said. The words broke through the silence that had embraced them, shattering the tiny world of their own.

Mo Cheng smiled. He rose from the couch and Sun Fang stretched out, uncurling his legs and splaying out on the whole couch. He raked his eyes down the other man’s body, watching as the shirt rose up over his stomach when Mo Cheng stretched his arms over his head. Mo Cheng turned his head and a cracking noise came from it; the man didn’t even react to this.

Sun Fang followed Mo Cheng to the front door, standing against the wall and giving a jaunty wave when the man left. Alone in his apartment, the front door banged shut behind Mo Cheng. The sound jarred him, and Sun Fang returned to the living room.

His butler was already there, cleaning up.

Sun Fang sat down on the couch, after a minute switching position so that he was lying across it with his head on a pillow and turned toward the TV. His butler got a blanket and swept it over him, the fabric settling easily and bringing warmth with it. Sun Fang dragged it up to his chin, snuggling down into it.

”Thank you,” he muttered. He didn’t know the show that was airing on the TV, but he didn’t feel like going looking through five thousand movies on a streaming service and so simply let it play out in front of him.

”It’s no trouble, Young Master,” his butler said. Even though it was mechanical, even though its voice was strictly regulated and didn’t have any range, the low volume still created an illusion of emotion in it.

Sun Fang snuggled deeper. He stared blearily at the TV, and felt his stomach lurch as somebody fell off a cliff. It felt a little bit like that was what he was doing right now—falling off a cliff three-thousand meters in the air. He didn’t know where he’d land.

He didn’t know if he would land on his feet or end up as splatter on the pavement.
