After nearly two hours and one very filling meal, Sun Fang returned to the hospital. It was evening now, the sun beginning to set. Pink and purple lined the sky, edging in on the yellow that blanketed the stretch to the ground. The stars on the black sky could hardly be seen so far into the city.

The car lazily rolled to a stop in front of the hospital’s entrance and Sun Fang swept out with nary a backwards glance. He waited the second it took for Ivy to join him and then he started to walk, his high heels tapping rhythmically on the ground. The pitter-patter of tiny raindrops hitting the ground was all that was heard, the wind nearly nonexistent. Sun Fang tilted his head back and stuck his tongue out, catching a few raindrops.

Ivy joined him, holding an umbrella over his head, and asked, ”Do you wish to move to a planet with more rain?”

”Ah?” Sun Fang turned his head to face his butler. He furrowed his brows, ”Not really. I like rain well enough, but I like the sun and the beach, too. I think I’m just fine with our current planet.”

”There are places on Guillotine with less rain, as well,” Ivy pointed out.

Sun Fang noted, ”To the north, yes. But really, I’m fine. I know I complain sometimes, and while I do wish to see rain on some occasions, I have no wish to move permanently.”

”Perhaps a vacation home, then?”

Laughing slightly, he shook his head. ”Maybe,” he said, and started walking again. They followed the directions up to Mianmian’s floor, and then walked through the long hallways with the pastel-colored walls until they reached Mianmian’s suite. The door was closed, so Sun Fang knocked gently on it—he didn’t want to wake the baby if she was sleeping again.

”Come in,” Deng Xi’s voice called. Sun Fang pushed the door open and stepped through it. His eyes quickly drifted over the entire room, noting the occupants, before he stepped over to Mianmian’s side.

Mianmian was still sitting on the bed, the baby’s carriage right next to him now. He was facing a large TV embedded in the wall, the sound muted so as to not disturb Casey. When he saw Sun Fang, he smiled and waved him over. Sun Fang made no attempts to disobey, quickly crossing the last bit of distance and pressing a soft kiss to Mianmian’s cheek. Standing up straight again, he poked Casey’s cheek before he stepped back. Deng Xi was sitting on the couch next to Sun Yi, so Sun Fang shamelessly sat down on Deng Xi’s armchair.

Sun Yi said, ”Hello, brother.”

”Hello,” said Sun Fang. He brought his phone out and fiddled quickly with it, bringing up the messages he’d exchanged with Mo Cheng. Beaming at Mianmian, he said, ”Look! Mo Cheng agrees with me that Casey is the best-looking baby in the world.”

Mianmian snorted, ”That’s not what’s written.”

”This world, at least,” Sun Fang adjusted seamlessly. He handed over his phone when Mianmian made a grabbing gesture, letting go of it easily.

”Had a good meal?” Mianmian asked, his voice distracted and his eyes on the phone. What he was doing with it, Sun Fang didn’t know. He didn’t particularly care. He trusted Mianmian.

”Yep,” Sun Fang popped. He crossed one of his legs over the other and leaned against the backrest. Putting on his most condescending expression, he glanced at his younger brother. Sun Yi was staring at him with wide eyes, his unguarded expression probably making him seem innocent. The younger man wasn’t saying though. ”What?” Sun Fang asked and tilted his head, with his eyebrows still lifted and a sneer to his nose.

It was a topnotch condensing expression, in his expert opinion. It effortlessly conveyed both doubt, a question regarding the recipients continued presence and his superiority over everything. Sun Yi shook his head and frowned, ”You… you’re really friends?”

”Obviously,” Sun Fang drawled. He sent a questioning look at Deng Xi, but his cousin only shrugged in answer. He didn’t know what that was about either, apparently.

”Mianmian and I met each other in university,” Sun Fang said. He couldn’t help but preen about this; the fact that he knew Mianmian for far longer than Deng Xi did. Though he had long-since accepted Mianmian and Deng Xi’s relationship, it was still something he liked to lord over his cousin.

Mianmian didn’t even look up from Sun Fang’s phone as he said, ”A’Fang is Casey’s godfather.”

”But—” Sun Yi bowed his head. He narrowed his eyes and leaned into the hand Marcus placed on his shoulder. ”Don’t you know what he’s done?” Sun Yi asked Mianmian. ”Don’t you know what he tried to do to me?”

At this, Mianmian finally looked up from the thin phone. He handed it back over to Sun Fang and frowned. He said, somewhat harshly, ”I know exactly what A’Fang has done. But I don’t think you do. Tell me, did you ever ask him about the rumors? Did you confront him about the things he’s done to you? Did you ask why?”

Sun Yi furrowed his brows. ”I don’t—”

”We don’t need to confront him to know the truth; he’d only lie to us anyway,” Marcus cut in. He was a giant behind Sun Yi’s slender frame. His voice was harsh and cutting, his eyes set into a glare.

Mianmian laughed. ”And that’s why A’Fang didn’t want to marry you.”

Marcus snapped his mouth shut. He looked over at Sun Fang and scowled. But after a second, he only shifted his gaze to Sun Yi, his eyes softening a noticeable degree. Sun Fang rose a pale eyebrow,  a faint hum leaving him. It was always interesting to see his brother and ex-fiancé together; he and Marcus had never acted like that.

What was that the difference between them, that Marcus could look at at Sun Yi like that but when he looked at Sun Fang, all that was shown was disdain?
