Chapter 13: Heart to heart

"Today, we will spend the day with the cows and the sheep," Arthur told them all after breakfast.

"A picnic?" Andrew asked, and Arthur nodded.

"Yes, we will bring apples and other healthy snacks. The animals are behind an electric fence, but we can still see them from the road," Arthur told the two boys. "Jake, say dad?"

Jake smiled and did so.

"Dad," the boy spoke, and Arthur teared up, as Beth reached out to pet the boy.

"He is finally speaking," Beth said, after her hand left the boy's hair. "Our little Jake will be just fine."

Arthur looked at Tagas, and reached out a hand to him. The angel placed his own hand in the farmer's and then grinned at him.

"I am happy I am here for this," Tagas spoke. "It is a great thing to share, right, Harry?"

Harry, who was eating his eggs in silence, looked at the family by the table with longing. He wished that Arthur's other hand was around his own. For all that he was seated at Arthur's left, he felt like he wasn't even on the table.

"Yes, it is a miracle," Harry did his best to smile. Arthur looked at him and sighed.

"Can I speak with you, Harry? Alone?" Arthur then stood up, and walked out of the room.

"Coming," Harry said, and he dragged his feet out of the kitchen. Arthur pointed at the couch in the living room, and Harry took his seat. The farmer sat opposite him and sighed.

"Look, I know how you look at us. All those jokes about lava cake were hints, weren't they?" Arthur asked, and Harry scratched the back of his head.

"Tagas will be loyal to you until the grave and beyond. I can only watch you both be happy," Harry said. It wasn't fair that the first time he got to meet a good angel, one that wouldn't kill him just because of who he was, he ended up on the sidelines.

Any other demon would have removed the farmer in such a way, that Tagas wouldn't have suspected a thing. But Harry was different. The only sin to his name was that he had gone to an orgy. Had he known that it would have ended up with him landing in Hell, he wouldn't have let his friends talk him into it.

"I need to tell you that I have never even thought of something like that before," Arthur began, and Harry stared at him. "You helped bring my son back. I wish you to be happy, Harry. But I also want Tagas to love me, as he does now."

"And there lies the problem. Unless you don't have anything against a threesome?" Harry wiggled his eyebrows at the man, who blushed.

"I... I think Tagas is conflicted about this as well," Arthur told Harry, eyes locked on his hands.

"He does like me," Harry was getting hopeful now. Was Arthur going to give him a chance?

"However, won't Tagas end up locked out of heaven forever, if he ends up in a threesome with a demon?" Arthur bit his bottom lip when he finished. It was not fair to Harry. It wasn't fair to Tagas, whose stares and constant attempts to include the demon in their moments came without the angel even realizing it.

"His brothers won't let it happen," Harry spoke. "Even if his older brother Michael starts to fuss."

"Why are you the one to protect him? Why didn't the angels send someone?" Arthur asked. This was something he couldn't understand.

"Well, Tagas is a fallen angel," Harry began. He was not very clear on the situation, himself. But he still did his best to explain it. "And fallen angels don't get to get help from heaven. Normally, their grace is taken away. Although, Tagas was not robbed in that way."

"If someone harms him, what will you do?" Arthur asked then. He rested his chin on his hands, and stared into Harry's green eyes.

"I will make sure that he can recover, first. Then, I will tear the offending party a new one," Harry told Arthur grimly.

Arthur smiled at the demon then.

"Are you sure you are a demon? You are a good sort, Harry," Arthur said, and Harry chuckled.

"Well, that is why I was sent with Tagas. If I wasn't a good sort, then his big brother would have ripped me a new one because Tagas is down here because of me," Harry admitted. It was only his assurances that he had not used magic on the angel to influence him that had saved him from a lava bath.

"How come?" Arthur asked. What could have Harry done, to force an angel to fall?

"He saved me, during a battle for the gates of Heaven," Harry said, a fond smile on his face. "He could have karate chopped me to next Sunday. Instead, he flew me to my own line, and then left me among allies."

"Sounds like Tagas," Arthur said, and then looked to the kitchen door. "Look, I am not saying that it will be easy, but between the two of us, I dare say that we can convince Tagas that a threesome is fair to everyone."

"You mean it?" Harry asked, hopeful.

"I would never lie to someone who helped bring my son back to me, both of my sons, in fact," Arthur told Harry with a grin. Harry reached out, and took a hold of one of Arthur's hands.

"Apple pie, you won't regret this," Harry told the farmer with a wicked grin, that made Arthur's knees grow weak.

"Yes, well, I think we should go back, now," Arthur stood up. Then he looked like he was considering something, and leaned over the small distance between them, and kissed Harry on the cheek.

"Thank you, for saving my son," the farmer spoke, and they heard a crash from the doorway.

"What?" It was Tagas, and there was a broken cup at his feet. "You, you..."

Tagas ran pass them and out of the house. Both Arthur and Harry exchanged worried looks. Yet, they didn't chase after him. The angel needed time to come to terms with what he saw.
