Chapter 40 Evidence of Crimes

Chen’an’s words didn’t just kill one of the trainees-even Han Ya was nearly shocked to death.

“Have you forgotten that kickboxing involves more than your fists? Niu Yanghui was going easy on you. If he had incorporated his legs into the fight, you might not be standing here right now,” she said, rolling her eyes.

Chen’an paused. “Huh. You can use your legs in kickboxing?”

Han Ya reached out and tapped his head. “It’s freestyle fighting. Other than a few lethal moves that can’t be used, there are no hard rules!”

Only then did Chen’an realize he might have overstepped. There was no way his arm muscles were stronger than a trained opponent’s thigh muscles, and he had just learned how to punch, so he was a long way from being able to flexibly alternate between upper and lower body attacks.

“Get it now?” Han Ya asked. “You should go and train your footwork and punches. I’ll teach you how to kick next week.”

Chen’an nodded and obediently went to the upright sandbag in one corner.

His next two hours were a blur of non-stop punching

To everyone’s shock, his fists never stopped colliding with the sandbag-until two hours later, when he had ‘scared to death’ seven Level 1 Weaklings, four Level 2 Amateurs, and one Level 4 Fighter with his formidable stamina.

The rewards he reaped were decent, but his experience points were still 195/1000. He had to work harder in order to level up. Unfortunately, one hour wasn’t enough to make full use of his double EXP card; he missed out on a few Level 1 and Level 4 monsters.

But one thing Chen’an had noticed was that anyone who entered the dungeon halfway would also be marked as a monster!

For example, a trainee had arrived an hour ago, and the title ‘Level 2 Kickboxing Amateur’ had manifested above his head as soon as he was within the vicinity of the club.

It planted an idea in Chen’an’s mind: he would go to a location with higher human traffic-and an abundance of prospective victims.

But first, he had to accumulate sufficient achievement points, which he planned to earn by splurging on food at the snack kiosk once he returned to school.

At least, he hoped that would count as achievements.

It was 4pm when his two hours of practice alone ended, about time he left.

He had only been able to stay for so long because the Jin Ya Freestyle Fight Club wasn’t too far from his home. After saying goodbye to Han Ya and collecting his membership card at the front desk, Chen’an exited the club.

(You are about to step out of the dungeon boundary. If you want to continue forward, you need to close the dungeon first. Do you wish to proceed with closing the dungeon?]

This time, Chen’an chose ‘Yes’. The system sent him a corresponding notification:

[Congratulations on completing the Mini Dungeon (Freestyle Fight Club). You have killed a total of 8 Kickboxing Weaklings, 5 Kickboxing Amateurs, 2 Kickboxing Fighters, 1 Kickboxing Photographer, o Kickboxing Masters, and 1 Kickboxing Goddess.)

[Main task: Completed]

[Number of side tasks completed: 10]

(Rate of increase in rewards, according to your performance: 100%]

(You have gained 200 experience points, 400 gold coins, and 1 (200%) mini dungeon treasure chest.)

The number of experience points and gold coins were fixed-and pretty decent-but what concerned Chen’an was the mini dungeon treasure chest. He had already left the Jin Ya Freestyle Fight Club, so he could only open the chest at home.

All in all, he had earned a satisfactory amount of rewards-especially increasing his martial prowess. With his current strength, he would probably be able to hold his own against Scorpion and his gang if he encountered them again.

That is, if he didn’t choose to call another car full of people to teach them a lesson.

After an hour and a half on the bus, Chen’an finally reached home. He only had half an hour before his parents arrived, so he was lucky he didn’t have to prepare dishes for dinner.

The (200%) mini dungeon treasure chest was simply too enticing; he could hardly contain his racing heart.

From his experience with the previous two chests, his current one likely held equipment or items related to Han Ya, which would in turn boost his Vitality or Power. Just as well, since those were his two most desired attributes at the moment.

After washing the rice and putting it in the cooker, Chen’an washed his face briskly and lit one of his father’s cigarettes in front of the idols in the kitchen to pay his respects. Then he happily went to his room and locked the door.

He withdrew the mini dungeon treasure chest from his inventory, and it appeared in front of him, its edges trimmed with black.

Slowly, he opened it in anticipation.

When he looked into the treasure chest, he realized that there were three items inside!

No wonder they had said the rewards would be worth 200% their usual rate.

Chen’an ignored the gold coins in the chest and picked up an item that looked like a ring.

(Congratulations on obtaining new equipment: Han Ya’s Lucky Ring]

(Equipment Name: Han Ya’s Lucky Ring]

(Equipment Grade: Bronze]

[Equipment Type: Ring] [Equipment Attribute: Luck +1]

[Equipment Durability: 15/25]

[Note: Han Ya’s only relic from her late mother, representing a mother’s heartfelt wishes for her daughter. Wearing it will give you good luck.]

Chen’an’s face lit up.

So Han Ya’s mother had already passed away. From the description of the ring, she must have loved her daughter very much. It was a shame she died so soon. He sighed and slipped the ring on.

He had four pieces of equipment now, and his collection-worth eight panels in total, looked less sparse. In addition to his existing weapons, necklaces, clothes, and ring, there were also helmets, belts, bottoms, and shoes. If he earned them all, he should be able to boost his attributes. Now that he had a ring to increase his luck, he was relatively confident that he would be able to obtain the full set of equipment.

After putting the ring away, Chen’an picked up another item that looked like a portfolio.

[Congratulations on obtaining new equipment: Evidence of Chen Guifen’s crimes]

What the hell?

Chen Guifen-that charming auntie from earlier-was a criminal?

The discovery shocked Chen’an. He pulled himself back to reality and read the description of the supposed evidence.

[Evidence of Chen Guifen’s crimes: Contains detailed information on her crimes as well as evidence. You stand to gain rewards if you turn her in to the authorities.]

Chen’an pounced on the keywords: the authorities.

In other words, he could give this folder to them directly!

Did that mean items could only be used by others after being removed from the treasure chests?

A spark danced in Chen’an’s gaze.
