A bright light streamed through the window and onto my face, I opened my eyes slowly, placing my hands on my stomach.

I shivered just remembering what my fate was last night...

As expected, my mothers cooking was beyond terrible.

When she placed the distorted steak in front of me, I was going to say something... However, as soon as I saw her gentle smile, I slapped myself and ate everything.

Of course my stomach paid the price...

It was so bad, I couldn't stop vomiting and what made it worse was the diarrhea was like a faucet.

Well, let's forget about last night and focus on today.

Turns out my father Richard is going to take me out on a small journey into the forest to show me how to hunt properly.

I was beyond excited!

It was about time I could explore and leave the perimeter of the house's land.

My mother was adamant to this, she even said to my father that if anything happens to me, she would feed him to the sex crazed goblins.

And when they were done playing with his body she would bring him to the church to force him to repent that he committed adultery.

I won't lie, I felt a cold chill run down my spine when I heard this.

I did silently pray for my fathers safety.

"You ready to head out, Felix?"

Turning around I was a little taken back but I still nodded my head toward my father.

Seeing my father not wear his usual brown shirt and long grey pants was a sight to behold.

Instead he wore this black battle robe that had metallic guards and royal blue highlights, he wore this earring accessory behind his left ear.

On either arm, he had these metal shields that shined brightly.

The accessory that made him stand out the most was the giant pure black sword attached to his back.

"Fa-Father, can you carry that thing?" I asked with a hint of worry.

My father looked confused for a split second until he saw where my gaze landed and that was his sword.

"This?" My father pointed to his sword.

I nodded my head.

"Haha, don't worry son, this is the weapon I've been using since I became an adventurer!" My father proudly said as he hit his chest.

Interesting, so there is an adventuring guild in this world.

"Father, what's your rank as an adventurer?" I asked.

I was genuinely interested.

Because if he could hold that large of a weapon then he had to be a high rank.

"I am at the Steel rank!" My father said in pride.

"..." I blankly stared at him.

"Why are you looking at me like I'm a disappoint!?" My father asked me with tears threatening to fall from his eyes.

"I'm sorry... I thought you would be a higher rank..." I explained with an awkward smile.

"I am a high rank!" My father growled.

"Really?" Looking at him, I wondered if he was lying.

After a couple seconds of looking there was no hint of deceit on my father's face.

"Then could you tell me the rank system?" I asked.

My father nodded his head, "Sure, there are 8 ranks: Bronze, Porcelain, Obsidian, Steel, Sapphire, Silver, Gold, Platinum."

Listening silently I had to admit it was a weird ranking system...

I wish it was more simple...

"Well, enough of this small chat, let's head out" My father walked past me toward the forest.

"Wait!" I yelled.

Does he expect me to follow him with no armor or anything!?

I don't even have a weapon!

My father turned around, "What's up?"

"Don't I need armor or anything?" I asked while looking down at my brown shirt and black shorts.

My father shook his head, "You'll be fine, there aren't any monsters above C-Class in the forest. The adventurers use this forest as a starting place to earn experience.

I hesitantly and slowly nodded my head, still worried about my safety.

I'll trust my father on this.

With that we headed into the forest.

The entire area was covered in vines and roots, I could hear strange sounds I had never heard were reaching my ears.

"That's weird... Why is the forest covered in vines?"

I heard my father mutter under his breath.

A second later he shook his head.

My father stopped dead in his tracks then faced me, "Felix, the first thing to know about hunting is to shut up and be a predator." He whispered.

I silently nodded my head.

As we both walked deeper into the forest I suddenly heard a distorted sound in the depths of the forest.

"Father, did you hear that?" I whispered, my body froze in place.

"Hear what?" My father looked at me as he whispered back.

Feeling uneasy I stepped backwards ignoring my fathers strange stare.

My heart began to thump painfully.

Sweat began to form on my head.

"Father, we need to leave this forest now!" I told my father with a worried expression as my voice shook.

"Felix, I think you might be-"

Out of nowhere multiple vines ratcheted up in speed and ensnared my father, wrapping him from his feet up to his neck.

He was lifted in the air.

"FATHER!" I yelled with true fear hinged into my voice.

My body shook violently as I felt my adrenaline rise, and my blood pressure increase dangerously.

This was the first time I have ever felt this scared.

I didn't know what to do.

I was hopeless in this situation...

"FELIX! Don't worry about me, I'll be fine! My core is at the Nascent stage!" My father yelled at me trying to comfort me.

"Wh-What d-do I do!?" I yelled back as I stuttered.

Fuck...

Why am I acting like this!?

I feel like I'm being hunted!

I feel trapped...

Shit, my breathing is becoming worse.

I need to calm down, I need to calm down.

"Run back toward the house!"

Hearing my fathers yell I nodded my head.

As I was about to run my body stopped like it was frozen in place...

"SHREEEEE!!!"

Hearing a distorted sound resound throughout the forest I slowly and timidly looked forward.

My heart sank when I laid eyes on this creature.

The creature seemed to be a green-skinned, plant-based monster.

First, there was the torso of a curvy and well-endowed naked woman.

Her head was almost human-like, ignoring the big black eyes and the lighter green fangs sticking out of her mouth.

Her hair looked like a green flower's bulb.

Around this woman's head was a bear trap-like protrusion of leaves, and this piece went all the way down to her torso, looking sort of like a very-deep piece of garment.

At her waist, the body of a human disappeared, giving way to dozens of roots and vines.

Her arms, too, were composed of roots and vines of various sizes.

She was probably a monster that led men in with their looks and then feasted on them.

As I was shivering in pure fear I noticed a weird spot on her arm and felt a little uneasy.

Closing my eyes, I then gulped down a huge load of salvia.

Taking a deep breath I reopened my eyes.

In the midst of my inner turmoil, every fiber in my body relaxed and soon I found inner peace.

I was calm and collected.

I took a step forward, shocking the monster and my father.

"Hey, it looks like you've got some wounds... By any chance, did you get some of your body ripped off?"
