[Volume 5 - Fulfilling Contracts]

Author's Note: Hello everyone! This volume's pretty straightforward and it'll be focused on Bai Jia's circumstances, the promise with Zhen Yue, and the inheritance realm with Wang Meilin (black dressed vixen lady). Won't say too much but anyways, it's good to be back!

Thank you and enjoy!

Currently, a large flying artifact was flying across the vast ocean between the Central Continent and Southern Ice Continent. Having just departed two days ago, Qian Yu found it amazing that they would reach the Bai Family, located in the eastern part of the Central Union, in just another five days. It had taken a week to cruise from the Xia Empire to the Soba Empire and now, they would travel a distance about three to four times as long in the same time.

As he looked at the horizon though, he sighed at the thought of leaving not only Zhao Xieren and Sun Hong but also others like Gu Zan who he had grown pretty close with over the last couple of months. As for Jiang Hai, Qian Yu hadn’t seen him ever since he was released because he had left for the capital to visit his sister once the war was over.

“The Central Continent… I can’t wait for it…” However, a part of him was also excited for what laid ahead. From his time in the Soba Empire, a natural inclination had formed for adventuring. Turning the other way, Qian Yu looked northward where a small strip of land lay in the distance. Within hours, they would officially enter the sky above the Central Continent.

“Hey you! Get back to your room!” A shout interrupted Qian Yu from the side.

“Alright!” Qian Yu hurried back to the room under the soldier’s fierce glare.

Running through the simply decorated hallway, Qian Yu returned to his small room where Zhen Yue was quietly cultivating on top of the mattress.

Compared to the flying artifact he had flown on with Zhao Xieren, this one was many times larger, fitting hundreds of people. However, it was a specialized military one with extremely small rooms and little interior decorations and designs.

Additionally, the atmosphere here was nowhere as friendly. Regulations were pretty strict and it was only with Bai Jia persuading her cousin, Bai Yijun, to agree to let them come. Speaking of him, he was the son of the current head of the Bai Family and even though he was of the same generation as Bai Jia, there was a pretty large age gap between the two.

“Master, while you were gone, Bai Jia was able to drop by and give us some scrolls about the Central Union,” Zhen Yue handed a bundle of scrolls to Qian Yu. With practically no knowledge of the Central Union, they had to ask for some general information about the country from Bai Jia. Under the supervision of her cousin though, it was hard for them to meet up.

“Ah… damn it, I missed her,” Qian Yu clicked his tongue.

“Hehehe, she told me that she misses you as well,” Zhen Yue replied.

“Alright alright… this one is the map of the country,” Qian Yu couldn’t help but smile before he started going through the bundles of scrolls before finding the scroll depicting a map of the country.

Many lines and dots were littered throughout the map. However, 6 large dots were easily noticeable. Spread apart, they were the 6 major families in the Central Union.

Compared to the Soba Empire or the Xia Empire, the Central Union consisted of a country run by 6 major families. Coming together, they had created a rather unique country where each of the major families had their own sphere of influence in specific areas. Smaller cities were influenced by the major families and certain areas where major family influence was low existed but they were rare.

“This is where we are headed too…” Zhen Yue pointed to one of the larger dots. Of the 6 families, the Bai Family was located in the bottom right of the country.

“Hmm, it’s near the east coast, so it’s close to the Eastern Islands Alliance ,” Qian Yu couldn’t help but point out. In fact, he realized the Bai Family was the closest of the 6 families to the Eastern Islands Alliance.

Zhen Yue fell silent hearing Qian Yu mention her home.

“Mmm… don’t worry, in time, we’ll get there,” Qian Yu hugged her around the shoulder. That said, he couldn’t help but be a little worried inwardly. Though they were travelling to the Bai Family, he still lacked an understanding of what to expect. As such, their plans thereafter were unclear as well.

“I know! Anyways, let’s go over the other stuff!” Zhen Yue smiled.

The hours passed as the two continued going over the scrolls. Outside the Bai Family, it was important to have an understanding of the other powers as well.

Once done, the two had a quiet and quick dual cultivation session before Zhen Yue fell asleep and after refining the qi, Tian Xinyi’s voice entered his consciousness, ‘Master… I’m so bored...!’

Soul Exploration!

“Alright alright,” Qian Yu chuckled. The relationship between Qian Yu and Tian Xinyi had always been good but it had definitely improved ever since the start of the war as he found himself in his soul world more often than ever.

Especially after the event with Bai Jia’s cousin, he had grown more adamant about the technique than ever. He had even tried forcing himself into Bai Jia’s soul world and the others but it had quickly failed.

‘Mmm! Can you do that thingy like always!? The one where you condense the laws!’ Tian Xinyi said like an excited child.

“Of course,” Qian Yu nodded and sat down.  After he was released, he had gone to look for information regarding domains and an important step was conjuring the laws in your own soul world.

“Do you have an estimate about how long it will take you to enter the next stage?” Qian Yu asked before he began. Not only did it help himself but Tian Xinyi also said that doing so was useful to her and could accelerate her growth into an epic grade spiritual beast.

‘Mm…maybe two or three months at this rate!’ Tian Xinyi answered.

“Hehe, that’s good then,” Qian Yu smiled. The simple thought of having a spiritual beast at the strength of a Martial Lord was simply mind-blowing to him. Not wasting any more time, Qian Yu closed eyes and began controlling the laws of his soul world so that they would condense towards himself and Tian Xinyi.

A few hours later, Qian Yu opened his eyes. A potent area with a field of lightning had formed and like a magnet, lightning continuously shot down in the surrounding areas. As for Tian Xinyi, she had grown quiet, almost as if she was cultivating and meditating like humans.

It had still taken a long time to do this but they had discovered that this atmosphere wouldn’t dissipate immediately. As such, Qian Yu turned his attention elsewhere.

The soul world wasn’t a bad place for training with his martial techniques. He could still improve his mastery but with his soul world being devoid of qi, he could only use the qi in his body and there would be a limit to the amount he could train since he couldn’t just absorb qi like in the regular world. (1)

“Let’s practice Mark of Heavenly Lightning,” Qi surged into his hands yet Qian Yu didn’t immediately release it. Rather, he quietly sat still, adjusting the amount of qi in his palm and tips of his finger. Ever since his fight against the cultivator who could create clones of himself, Qian Yu had been specifically focused on the martial technique’s tracking ability and had been investigating for a suitable ratio and more ways to utilize it.

Hours passed and peacefully, the days on the ship quickly ended and before long, a grand city appeared in the horizon.

Author’s Note:

(1) There is a difference between absorbing and cultivating qi. Everything can absorb qi but cultivating qi is improving the quality of qi.

Effect on MC: Qian Yu can absorb regular qi and turn it into lightning/chaotic qi. However, the cultivation technique requires yin qi to increase the strength/quality of the qi that he can release.
