Chapter 1: Prologue

I've been wearing a frown for about three minutes watching as a mysterious phone was hovering in front of me being showered with lights inexplicably from nowhere.

This is Miyama Kaito here, an otherwise unnoteworthy person from Earth now transported to another world called Trinia. I've lived in this peaceful world where war and discrimination is nonexistent for about eight years and closely approaching my 30th birthday.

I've encountered a lot of head-scratching situations in my time here, but even I don't know how to interact with an extremely suspicious phone that's just screaming to me to pick it up.

"...Alice." (Kaito)

"It obviously doesn't seem to be native to Trinia, so it has to have come from an outside world. What's troubling is that it left no traces of spatial fluctuations coming here." (Alice)

I heard a voice to my side when Alice, a blond-haired girl appeared to my side. She's a trustworthy girlfriend of mine who's always sticking close to me by my shadow, ready to protect me at any signs of distress and responding to my call.

"How about you, Shiro? Do you know what it is?" (Kaito)

(Indeed. I allowed it to appear in my world. From what I know, it intended to approach you to bring entertainment from other worlds.) (Shiro)

A beautiful voice was heard in my head. She is another close girlfriend of mine who communicates to me a lot by reading my mind and sending messages to my head. But to think that it just came here to entertain me...this feels similar to a salesperson knocking at my front door trying to sell me something suspicious.

"I see. Then, let's discuss this at your place. It's safe for me to touch it, right?" (Kaito)

(You have my guarantee that it is safe.) (Shiro)

Having that confirmation, I told Alice what I was told. After some careful observation, she nodded to me, so I walked up, snatched the phone and pocketed it.

I wasn't surprised to find myself and Alice transported to a colorful garden filled with exotic flowers. Looks like Shiro came prepared with a table and snacks in her sanctuary.

Shiro came to view, a person with the color white all over her. Her long hair cascading down to her legs and the white gown with golden embroidery and feather-like hems of the skirt. Her face remained expressionless except for that glow in her golden eyes seeing me in person.

And it's not just her present, but Kuro and Eden too?

"Yo, Kaito-kun!" (Kuro)

"What a joyous event to see you again, my beloved child." (Eden)

The warmth I felt seeing the cheerful Kuro went cold the second I heard Eden's voice tinted with madness.

Kuro over there is a short-haired girl who is also my wife. She's wearing her usual black coat and shorts. Meanwhile, Eden had the appearance of an angel. Blond, short hair curled in a braid wearing a toga with twenty wings behind her back.

"H-Hey, it's nice to see you two again." (Kaito)

"So we're here to discuss about that outside technology, right?" (Kuro)

"Yeah." (Kaito)

I placed the black phone on the table and sat down. For a moment, all five of us just stared at it.

"Earth God, you know this thing, don't you? It borrows the design of one of your machines." (Shiro)

"I'm aware of what it is. The reason it took the form of one of my world's creations is to draw my beloved child preference with a fitting design." (Eden)

"Will this thing bring any harm to this world?" (Alice)

Eden shook her head while Kuro played with the phone in her hands.

"It's close to a machine with intelligence that contacts other worlds to connect them with the wider network of multiverses. It once visited me to offer its services, but I refused and threatened it to back off. I was in no need of help on how to govern and build my own world. At the very least, this doesn't have the intentions of bringing anyone misfortune." (Eden)

"Wow, so something this amazing came to this world, huh?" (Kaito)

"And it's got a polite attitude. But then that would mean you allowed this thing to come to our world, Shiro?" (Kuro)

"Indeed. I allowed it to come with conditions. I've learned that by its own principles it cannot change worlds by itself, but through the users it comes to contact with. Rather than the World Creators, it targets the living beings in worlds." (Shiro)

"So the target of this world turned out to be Kaito-san, huh..." (Alice)

"To think someone has become brave enough to venture in your world, God of the Apocalypse." (Eden)

"Watch your mouth." (Shiro)

I was surprised by the sudden pressure of Shiro's magic rising. There was no great change in her facial expressions, but I could easily tell Shiro was displeased by Eden's comment who had a wry smile.

"I was already aware of something encroaching close to my world. If it didn't make an appearance before me, I would've destroyed it by now." (Shiro)

Was it just me or did the phone tremble a little on the table?

"Since it's already come to this, why don't you make the final decision, Kaito-san?" (Alice)

"If it tries to do anything funny, we'll protect you." (Kuro)

"Be careful, my beloved child. The whole network of multiverses is rife with unknowns. You can always come to your mother's embrace for protection." (Eden)

"Ahaha, thanks. That reassures me a lot." (Kaito)

I smiled at their encouragement, feeling a little excited at the prospect of taking a step into the unknown and picked up the phone. The screen came to life and I was met with messages on it.

[New user detected. Scanning. Processing. Task Completed.]

The black screen came to life with a white light. I can see the interface now with a 'create an account option' in the center of the screen. Information then poured into my head on how to interact with it.

[Welcome new user. We have evaluated the scope of your existence and are deeply impressed by your achievements. We have made a decision to offer the second-class level of authority, second to the first-class, which is the greatest level of authority across the entire network. You are also given unrestricted access to the market. Please create an account now.]

...I was just given the second-class level, only a step away from the best before I even created an account. I didn't even notice Shiro's meaningful smile if it wasn't for my sympathy magic telling me.

Forget it, just focus on creating an account for now. I tapped the screen and held my thumb on it, letting it do its thing. A ding sound hit my ear and the screen changed to a message board. I was happy to see something I'm familiar with and saw the first messages popping up.

...I firmly believe these usernames are randomly generated. There is no way someone would deliberately write that as their username for a channel connected to the multi-multiverse. And why does mine make no sense and has nothing related to me?
