“To tell you the truth, I admire you. Really. I am lucky to have you as an opponent. But I also wish I could kill you and surpass you. Then I’d become the ultimate ruler of the Continent of the Nine Clouds. I still think that way,” Chu Chun Qiu said gravely.
“You hate me that much?” Lin Feng asked plainly, not angry.
“You haven’t forgotten about the Chu Clan, right?” said Chu Chun Qiu glumly.
Lin Feng remained silent. How could he forget the Chu Clan? “So, what do you intend to do? You want to kill me after killing the Ancient Demon King?” Lin Feng asked calmly.
Chu Chun Qiu shook his head. He grabbed the wine jar, but it was empty so he put it back on the table. Then he said, “If we continue being enemies, I will use my full strength to kill you. After killing you, you will use your soul jewel to come back to life, so it’s not necessary.
“I think that at our cultivation level, our opponents’ death isn’t an objective anymore. It’s not necessary, unless a soul jewel can be weakened,” said Chu Chun Qiu, sighing helplessly. He hadn’t tried to kill Lin Feng for many years.
But now he understood it was the past. Back then, those were times of chaos. The Chu Clan had been destroyed, and he could only blame himself.
He couldn’t let hatred and his desire for revenge poison his life. His dream was to become the strongest cultivator in the universe, and if he kept fighting and plotting against Lin Feng, he would just make Lin Feng stronger.
He would become Lin Feng’s stepping stone. Seeking revenge was now useless.
“You know what I did after destroying Yuan Hall?” asked Lin Feng.
Chu Chun Qiu was surprised. “You didn’t destroy their soul jewels?” asked Chu Chun Qiu in disbelief. If Lin Feng had not done that, it was just stupid.
“How is that possible? How could I let them come back to life?” Lin Feng said while shaking his head. He wasn’t dumb. He had destroyed all their soul jewels as well.
“What did you do then?” asked Chu Chun Qiu.
“I spared a thread of Yuan Tian’s soul, their leader. That way, he will always hope he can come back to life someday,” Lin Feng chuckled darkly, and put a big piece of meat in his mouth.
Chu Chun Qiu didn’t understand why Lin Feng had done that.
“I spared a thread of his soul, but I destroyed his soul jewel. Even though it seems like he could come back to life someday, imagine how hard it would be. I have experience and I understand people. I think he may try and find a talented young cultivator. Then he’ll train him and ask him to kill me to get his revenge. Wouldn’t it be a great thing?” Lin Feng smiled.
Chu Chun Qiu shook his head. He didn’t think it was a good thing. It sounded rather dumb. “You’re insane,” he claimed promptly.
“Hehe, Chu Chun Qiu, your way of thinking is too simplistic. I am already a Great Supreme God, almost one of the strongest cultivators in this continent. We can’t be afraid of one single person anymore. We can be afraid of an entire group. Think about it; without those broken souls, what would our future look like?
“Don’t tell me you’ve never been helped by a broken soul. Their existence is an essential part of cultivation. Therefore, why would we kill all the broken souls? Why not give young people opportunities?
“What are legacies? You understand? What is our mission? You know?” Lin Feng sighed. Chu Chun Qiu didn’t understand that. Many young geniuses didn’t.
But Lin Feng understood the importance of legacies. He also understood why Ancestor Kong had reincarnated five times to find a descendant for the group.
Their true purpose wasn’t to become the strongest. It was to become strong enough and at the same time improve the world. It was the reason why cultivators created sects and clans. Only strange people lived alone in the wilderness.
Lin Feng felt good when he thought of that. He knew he was one of the most talented geniuses of the world, but he also knew some young people would become extremely strong someday, and they might admire him, or they might look for him to seek revenge for their ancestors.
Then, Lin Feng would reassess the situation.
The Continent of the Nine Clouds, the Continent of the Martial Gods, the Continent of Eternity; those worlds weren’t easy to understand.

Lin Feng didn’t know why he was thinking about all those things. He usually didn’t. It wasn’t like him, it was more something a mother would think. But it was part of his evolution on the path of cultivation. His sense of judgement became more acute with time.
Chu Chun Qiu felt as if he had been meditating after hearing all those things. He didn’t understand all Lin Feng had said, but he felt peaceful. He sighed and realized the gap between him and Lin Feng was still increasing. It wasn’t a cultivation level difference, it was a difference in their state of mind. Lin Feng was becoming wiser.
Chu Chun Qiu didn’t know how to catch up with Lin Feng psychologically. He would just have to find an opportunity someday and then he would be enlightened, too.
“Eh? There’s someone outside. Fourth Great Supreme God layer,” Lin Feng said suddenly.
“It’s the Lun Bi Empire’s Divine Ancestor. He’s my teacher’s teacher,” said Chu Chun Qiu calmly.
“Your teacher’s teacher?” asked Lin Feng. He was startled. Chu Chun Qiu had such a powerful background. No wonder he was unperturbed.
“Chu Li, open the door and let me come in,” a voice called out. He sounded weak. Lin Feng and Chu Chun Qiu had a bad feeling.
“Divine Ancestor!” exclaimed Chu Chun Qiu, opening the door hastily. A man in a yellow robe appeared at the door. He had lots of wrinkles, and looked old, tired, and injured.
“Chu Li, hurry up and come back with me. I have to talk to you,” said the Divine Ancestor quickly, looking quite worried.
Lin Feng watched Chu Chun Qiu and the Divine Ancestor disappear in the distance. He had a bad feeling. The old man looked like he was on the verge of dying!
What happened? The Divine Ancestor looked so worried and scared.
“It’s him?” Shi Si Ming, now in Lin Feng’s spirit world, spoke up suddenly. Lin Feng noticed the man had come completely back to life, but he now had the strength of the fourth Great Supreme God layer, not of the fifth, because he had taken the man in black’s body.
“Master, you successfully returned to life?” Lin Feng asked happily.
“Lin Feng, let me come out!” shouted Shi Si Ming. Lin Feng didn’t waste any time and brought Shi Si Ming out.
Shi Si Ming appeared, wearing a black robe, his face covered.
“Even though this body is a bit weak, I have come back to life,” said Shi Si Ming. He was content he had returned. What else could he wish for?
“Master, do you know the Divine Ancestor?” asked Lin Feng.
“Yes. I know him. We had good relations. Back then, Tian Dao Yuan had not stepped out yet, but in secret, Tian Dao Yuan and the Lun Bi Empire had good relations,” confirmed Shi Si Ming. He looked after the two men.
“Master, let’s go and follow them. I have a bad feeling there is a problem,” Lin Feng frowned.
Shi Si Ming nodded. He had come back to life thanks to Lin Feng, so he followed him willingly.
“Let’s go,” said Shi Si Ming, grabbing Lin Feng’s sleeve and pulling him. They left the teahouse and chased after Chu Chun Qiu.
——-
Everything was silent in the teahouse. A short time afterwards, Wu Cheng Zu came out of the kitchen and looked after the four people who had vanished from sight.
“Lin Feng, Cheng Zu will always be grateful. If someday some geniuses appear in the Wu Clan, they will always follow you and serve you,” swore Wu Cheng Zu resolutely.
He couldn’t imagine that someday, in a lower world, the Continent of the Martial Gods, a descendant of the Wu Clan would be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with Lin Feng!
“I should go too. With my strength, I won’t be able to become stronger in the Country of Eternity. I should go to a lower world and travel,” murmured Wu Cheng Zu.
