Mara let out a sigh as she ducks underneath the table, huddling up to make herself as small as possible. She is at a loss, and the camera wasn't giving any tips nor hints. At least she isn't starving. The last thing she needs is to be stuck in this area with no food around. Well, there is that little room that looks like a kitchen on the other side of the two big metal doors that lead to A-V, but those are still locked. After what feels like an hour of searching, but is probably thirty minutes, she still has not been able to find the keycard to get through.
'What's the point of even getting the damn keycard? Those doors look like they've been melded shut by whatever the hell that black goop stuff is.'
Her flashlight only got worse as she looked around, and now it is barely casting any light at all as she uses it. However, as hopeless as the situation may seem, she still is hopeful. Well, hopeful in the way of determination. She will not give up and throw in the towel so easily. She just now needs to find an alternate way in. With how big the Sewer area is, there's bound to be another route somewhere nearby. If not, she could always check out the other tunnels in the Sewer she has passed as she walked here. They're bound to lead to somewhere, with hopefully that wear being better than the situation Mara currently is finding herself in.
Uncurling herself, and about to get out from underneath the table, she takes a deep breath before gagging upon the rancid smell that hit her. While she is away from the sewer water, and the waste that is in it, she is still in a sewer, and it still doesn't smell nice.
Once her gagging stops, she felt the overwhelming urge to cough. She opens her mouth, about to start, before she closes her mouth and forces her way through it. Coughing seems like a bad idea right now, even if she hasn't seen anyone around for a while.
Maybe it is fate or something, but as she finishes thinking that, she hears it. It's subtle, and she can barely hear it over the ambulance sounds of the Sewers, but she can still make it out. It's the sound of footsteps, and they are getting closer and closer to her.
Upon recurling herself, she notices three things about the footsteps. One is that they were consistent, and did not sound like the person, or thing, they belong to is trying to be stealthy. The next is that they are light, which means whatever is making them is not that big. The third and final thing is that they are clearly heading her way at a walking pace.
The first factor, and the third one, are enough to make Mara decide it's best not to get out of hiding. She has seen way too much to trust that someone walking casually is not something that can kill her.
'Just stay quiet, and still. That worked for that one guy, as well as that other...guy with the mummish-kind of face. Just-'
Mara's heart, breathing, and thought process all stop. The sound of the footsteps are too loud. In fact, if she didn't know there is a wall to her left, she would think that the footsteps are right next to her.
However, hope decided to leave her at this point, as the very next second a boot appeared right in front of her. She nearly let out a sound, which she knows no doubt will spell out her doom.
The boot is small and black in color, and it is too dark to make out the small amount of leg that she can see, but it appears the skin is grey. It is only a small amount that she can see of the leg, since the rest is covered by a big black skirt.
The boot is quickly joined by another one, however, they don't move on. Instead, they stay in front of the table and, in front of Mara.
'Oh shit!' Mara began to wonder if she could trip the patient before they attack her, because the patient has clearly found her.
Yet, much to her surprise, the patient did turn to the table, but they quickly turn away, the sound of paper being sorted through filling the air.
A sigh fills the air next, one belonging to a clearly young feminine person, only there is a almost ethereal-like vibe to it, giving the person away as a patient and not a normal human. At least, not anymore.
The patient drops the papers they are reading and turns around, now facing the door out of the room. Without a moment's pause, they walk through the open doorway and turn to the right, walking out of view. It may be just a coincidence, but Mara notices that the lights outside the room she is in began to flicker and even change color.
However, the lights quickly went back to normal, and Mara could no longer hear the footsteps of the patient.
