Western medicine and TCM had different understandings of the heart. In western medicine, the heart pumps and circulates the blood throughout the body, and it’s akin to the engine in the human body. On the contrary, TCM viewed the heart function as heart energy.
If the heart energy was vigorous, it meant that the heart had a strong Yang energy, which was internal heat. On the contrary, if the heart energy was insufficient, it meant that the heart function was deteriorating.
All in all, there were two main reasons that could cause insufficient heart energy. One of them was due to a weak constitution; if the Qi and blood were insufficient for an extended period of time, it would result in weak heart functions, and ultimately, heart-related diseases. The other was due to blood lipid building up impurities and saturated fatty acids in the inner walls of the blood vessels, which resulted in narrowed blood vessels.
However, Mu Jingchen’s condition was neither. His condition belonged to an inborn condition with his blood vessels being much more narrow than others. Hence, as he gets older, more impurities gathered in his blood vessels. So when he fell on his head, it caused a butterfly effect that put a heavy burden on his already narrowed vessels.
Western medicine couldn’t detect the width of Mu Jingchen’s blood vessels, so they couldn’t find the root cause. Furthermore, because his blood vessels were more narrow than an ordinary person’s, it affected his other bodily functions as well. Putting it in a nutshell, it had also caused impotence, and this was the reason why Su Tao was able to determine that Mu Jingchen didn’t have any children.
Mu Jingchen got to know his wife when he was back in university. The two of them shared a deep relationship, and even after they discovered Mu Jingchen’s inability, his wife still stayed by his side, which left him touched. To show consideration for Mu Jingchen, his wife even announced that the two of them were working professionals, and they had no intention for children. This matter had even caused his parents to hold complaints about his wife.
As a man, Mu Jingchen naturally felt bitter in his heart since he wanted to give his wife a child. Whenever they saw a family, his wife would be looking at them enviously.
Compared to his periodical twitches, Mu Jingchen would rather hope to restore his manhood.
“Physician Su, how do you intend to treat my condition?” Mu Jingchen was getting a little impatient.
“Your condition belongs to an inborn health condition. Let me make an example, during the designing phase for a road; it was designed for two lanes. But now that you want to change it to four or six lanes, it will need a long time and energy. This is a massive project, and it’s not something that can be done immediately.” Su Tao smiled.
Su Tao purposely made it sound difficult so that Mu Jingchen would treat this matter seriously.
He had even treated Jin Guoxiang’s daughter, Jin Zhitong. Her condition was similar to Mu Jingchen, so all he had to do was cleanse Mu Jingchen’s marrow and arteries. It wasn’t difficult for Su Tao to conduct the treatment, but Mu Jingchen’s arteries were spread throughout his body, unlike Jin Zhitong, who was focused at one location. Hence, this was a major work, and it would definitely take a long time.
“I’ll first perform acupuncture on you so that you won’t be in so much pain.” Su Tao retrieved his needle pouch from his medical box.
Nodding his head, Mu Jingchen said with a solemn expression, “Thank you!”
Since Mu Jingchen’s heart energy wasn’t sufficient, the acupuncture procedure would be mainly using Shaoyin Heart Meridians of the Hand to clear up his meridians. The meridians were located under his armpit, upper limb, palm, and fingers.
The main acupoint would be Jiquan, ending at the Shaochong Acupoint. In between the two, there were a total of nine acupoints.
When Su Tao inserted the first needle, Mu Jingchen trembled. He could feel a gentle power coursing from the needle into his body that felt extremely relaxing.
This was a typical reaction from Mu Jingchen since his blood vessels were narrow, and the impurities could be removed through acupuncture. Once his blood was able to flow normally, the palpitating and nausea sensation would naturally disappear.
Mu Jingchen was initially still somewhat nervous, but the moment the needle was inserted, he instantly felt relaxed. He felt unprecedented tranquility.
At the same time, Su Tao had a new understanding of Mu Jingchen’s condition. The reason for the insufficiency of his heart energy was due to an innate and acquired condition. Ever since he entered the financial industry, he had continuously been under enormous pressure and often burned the midnight oil. Hence, his heart energy was naturally exhausted. Furthermore, since he had a defect from birth, it resulted in periodic twitches.
Roughly an hour later, Mu Jingchen felt that his entire body had become lighter. When Su Tao pulled out the last needle, he smiled. “I’m done with the acupuncture. I will be giving you a medical prescription later, and you just have to take it twice a day. The medicine will start to show its effects within a week, and you will completely recover in about half a year.”
Mu Jingchen was tortured by his condition for nearly a year. He had visited all the hospitals he could, but he couldn’t find a solution. In the end, he even felt that he’s suffering from a terminal illness, but he never imagined that he could find hope from Su Tao.
“What about my reproduction…” Mu Jingchen said in embarrassment.
“Your impotence is due to your insufficient heart energy. As long as you continue to take medication to nourish your heart energy, it will be resolved. Furthermore, you still have to maintain a normal lifestyle while taking medicine like going to work. Otherwise, it will be difficult to have your condition treated.” Su Tao emphasised.
“Physician Su, don’t worry about it!” Mu Jingchen knew that Su Tao said so much because he wanted to help him. Otherwise, why would Su Tao spend so much effort talking?
Getting off the bed, Mu Jingchen took a few steps and instantly felt refreshed. He felt an unusual relaxing sensation spreading throughout his body.
He had first-hand experience of the treatment’s effects.
Su Tao inwardly sighed. His trip to Japan was to treat Kohei Koizumi’s impotence. But in the end, he did not treat Kohei Koizumi, but Mu Jingchen instead.
Although Kohei Koizumi and Mu Jingchen both had impotence, and this was the reason why they couldn’t have kids, there’s a difference at the root of it. The former’s issue was organic, while the latter’s issue was functionality. Putting in a nutshell, the difference between the two was that Kohei Koizumi couldn’t get hard at all, while Mu Jingchen’s hardness only lasted a short duration.

Su Tao could restore Mu Jingchen’s reproductive ability, but he’s helpless against Kohei Koizumi. Kohei Koizumi’s body was devoured by cancerous cells, and if it wasn’t for his forbidden technique, Kohei Koizumi would’ve left the world a long time ago.
At this moment, Mu Jingchen also finally knew why Su Tao wanted to send Gu Yin away. Although Gu Yin knew that he’s ill, Gu Yin had no idea that he was also impotent. So if it was revealed to Gu Yin, it would put Mu Jingchen in an embarrassing position.
Mu Jingchen met many people in his life, and he had been paying attention to Su Tao. He might be getting on his age, but he’s experienced when it came to social interaction. As the saying goes, calligraphy was the representation of the person himself. At this moment, he deeply regretted the doubt that he had for Su Tao.
When Gu Yin received a call from Mu Jingchen, he looked at Ni Jingqiu and smiled. “Judging from Old Mu’s tone, it seems Su Tao managed to treat his condition.”
“And here you were still blaming me for introducing you to such a young doctor. Do you know my efforts now?” Ni Jingqiu smiled.
Gu Yin clasped his hands to Ni Jingqiu and apologised, “Who could’ve imagined that Su Tao managed to tell that Old Mu was ill from his calligraphy? If that episode did not take place, I’m afraid that Old Mu wouldn’t have accepted Su Tao’s treatment.”
Ni Jingqiu sighed since Su Tao had caught her off guard. She already had the intention to introduce Su Tao to Gu Yin, but she never expected that Su Tao had left his calligraphy behind. It seemed that everything went well; many coincidences had interacted together. Most importantly, Su Tao’s eyes were too vicious to see through Mu Jingchen’s condition from his calligraphy.
“I’m glad that I can help Mr. Mu.” Ni Jingqiu smiled.
After a brief pause, Gu Yin said, “As for the Fuji Group’s investment in your project, I will talk to Old Mu about it. He might be stubborn, but he’s also a passionate person. Although we hold Japan’s nationality, we’re still Chinese, and we have the blood of Yanhuang flowing through us. So it’s natural for us to help each other.”
Shaking her head, Ni Jingqiu replied, “I won’t inconvenience Mr. Gu for the trouble. I believe that Mr. Mu isn’t the sort of person who would be led by the nose. Furthermore, I believe that he has found his answer from this incident.”
Gu Yin was briefly stunned before he sorted it out and laughed, “That’s right. Since he has already experienced the miracle of TCM, he will no longer have a reason to oppose the project. After all, even a bystander like me could sense the boundless charm of TCM.”
After the two of them left the café, they joined up with Su Tao and Mu Jingchen at the lobby. Mu Jingchen took the initiative to briefly talk with Ni Jingqiu before he left with Gu Yin.
“How did it go?” Ni Jingqiu smiled.
“Why are you asking the obvious? But the outcome that you want might not come that quick.” Su Tao replied.
“Why?” Ni Jingqiu looked at Su Tao in perplexion.
“Since it’s a treatment, it will naturally take time. It will at least take half a month before you can get the answer you want.” Su Tao purposely threw her in suspense.
Letting out a sigh, Ni Jingqiu responded, “Half a month it is, then. I have the patience to wait.”
Looking at his watch, Su Tao smiled. “I’ll be making a trip elsewhere!”
“Where are you going?” Ni Jingqiu gazed at Su Tao with curiosity.
“You still remember Natsuki Sakamoto? Her father’s condition is pretty serious, and I have to do a follow-up for him.” Su Tao did not hide it from her.
“I’ll come with you!” Ni Jingqiu suggested.
“Why are you coming along?” Su Tao sourly smiled and continued, “I’m going to the hospital. You should sit on your silver throne and shop your luxury goods.”
“I’m going to supervise you!” Ni Jingiqu lowered her voice.
“I’m an adult, and my mentality is firm. Why do you need to supervise me?” Su Tao innocently asked.
“My intuition is telling me that you have an ulterior motive for Natsuki Sakamoto. Otherwise, why would you pay so much attention to her?” Ni Jingqiu wore a playful smile and continued, “It’s not a good time for a Divine Physician like you to be involved in a scandal.”
Inwardly letting out a sigh, Su Tao jabbed her forehead. Then again, her words did make some sense.
Many people might have watched Natsuki Sakamoto’s films, but it wouldn’t be good for anyone to be involved in a scandal with her, and it might be used by their competitor against them. After all, Su Tao was someone famous right now.
“Since you don’t have any trust in me, then come along with me. Women, so troublesome!” Su Tao smiled.
