Chapter 749 - Legitimate Self-Defense

Seeing Su Tao handing his phone over to him, the officer knitted his brows.

“Hello, I’m the Chief of the Provincial Health Bureau’s Disease Control Department, Rui Lei.” A voice resounded.

Chief of Department?

The Chief of the City Police Station was only a department administrative-level official, and this officer wasn’t too familiar with the ranks. He inwardly sighed. He now knew the reason why Su Tao wasn’t afraid, he knew someone in the province.

“Hello, Mr. Rui. This friend has committed an assault, and he’s currently under investigation. According to the victim’s request, he has to pay ¥100,000 for medical fees, and the police are only acting as the mediator in this matter. In the end, this matter has to be resolved between them.” The officer tactfully replied. Rui Lei might have a formidable background, but there’s nothing Rui Lei could do to him since they’re not in the same system. Furthermore, he could easily get himself out of this matter by determining it as a dispute between two parties.

“A special matter has to be done about this. The one that you’re currently detaining is the hero of Yundian Province and the entire nation. He had just contributed greatly to the epidemic, and his name is Su Tao. You don’t even have that little awareness?” Rui Lei was furious.

“Su Tao?” The officer was shocked. It was no wonder why he had been finding Su Tao familiar, and Su Tao had been keeping silent when he asked him about his identification number. So this fellow was actually the great contributor of Seven Mountain Village.

The reason why he failed to recognise Su Tao was due to the difference in person and on television. Furthermore, he also never expected that he would bump into Su Tao. The chances were practically the same as winning a lottery.

“So it’s Divine Physician Su Tao!” The officer swiftly reacted and continued, “I’m sorry. We’ve made a mistake in this matter, and I will send him off immediately. Furthermore, I will apologise to him personally.”

“My leader has already contacted the Provincial Public Security Bureau and the Provincial Tourism Bureau. An instruction will soon arrive, so please don’t offend Su Tao right now. Just act impartially.” Rui Lei straightforwardly replied to prevent that officer over the phone from making a grave mistake, seeing that he had swiftly reacted.

“I know what to do now, Mr. Rui!” The officer had only just joined the police station of this district, and upon hearing Rui Lei’s words, his arrogance immediately vanished.

“I’m sorry, it was all a misunderstanding!” The officer returned the phone to Su Tao and continued, “It was our misunderstanding on this matter. Why don’t I send you back now?”

“Misunderstanding?” Su Tao bitterly smiled and shook his head. “I even witnessed that local ruffian, Old Rabbit beating a couple up. This region is so chaotic, so who will dare to come for tourism in the future?”

“This must be a misunderstanding!” The officer bitterly smiled.

“Misunderstanding?” Su Tao was baffled.

“We also met similar incidents in the past, but the victims have never reported to the police. They’re a fake couple, and they’re from the tourist agency.” The officer bitterly smiled.

It took Su Tao a long time before he recovered from it. The reason why he beat up those ruffians was partly because of their tyranny and seeking revenge for that couple. However, he never expected that the situation would develop in this matter. So it turned out that the couple was from the tourist agency, putting up an act to hoax them, frightening the tourists so that they would make purchases in the jade store.

“I will speak a few words with Old Rabbit, so please wait a brief moment.” The officer sighed.

Watching the officer leave, Su Tao bitterly smiled. There were too many deceptions in the world, and even someone as intelligent as he was fooled.

Old Rabbit was smoking in another room and he nudged his lips upon seeing the officer coming in and handed his cigarette box over. “Would you like one?”

“You’ve committed a grave mistake this time!” The officer unhappily said.

“It was me who was beaten up, alright! Little Wen, I did not spend my years for nothing. I have someone in the city backing me up, so just sit back and watch the show. I’ll definitely mess with him.” Old Rabbit unhappily replied.

The officer weakly smiled. Old Rabbit might be an infamous local ruffian, but he never committed any grave offence, and he had only been doing trivial things like this.

When the officer saw Station Chief Tian walking past the door, he instantly knew that this matter had blown up. The station chief should be having a meeting in the county, so he must have received an order to rush here immediately.

“Little Wen! Where’s Little Wen?” The Station Chief hollered outside.

“I’ll go and deal with my superior!” Little Wen sighed before he continued, “All the best for you.”

Seeing Little Wen walking over, the Station Chief roared, “Where are they?”

“They’ve been separated by me!” Little Wen carefully smiled.

“The City’s Deputy Mayor will be coming soon, so immediately get someone to receive him. I’ll talk with that person!” The Station Chief roared.

Little Wen was startled since he never expected that this matter would be so serious that it’d even alarm the City’s Deputy Mayor. But fortunately, he did not commit any mistakes and immediately replied, “I’ll make arrangements right away!”

When Station Chief Xu entered the interrogation room, he immediately recognised Su Tao and smiled. “I’m sorry for there to be a mistake on our part and allowed you to suffer grievance. I’m the Station Chief of this Jade Stone Street, and my surname is Tian.”

Su Tao knew that his phone call with Rui Lei worked and replied, “Station Chief Tian, you guys might seem to be impartial in this matter, but please get the situation cleared. If there wasn’t an issue with the tourist agency, I wouldn’t have made a move.”

“That’s right; you were acting out of legitimate self-defense according to my understanding.” Station Chief Tian smiled as he nodded his head.

Su Tao was stunned at this scene since he never expected that the other party would have such a drastic change. Then again, that’s also the reality of society. If you have a solid connection, anyone would bow to you.

“Furthermore, please be reassured that Old Rabbit’s group will be punished.” Station Chief Tian continued.

Shaking his head with a bitter smile, Su Tao replied, “If someone else was in my shoes, I’m afraid that Old Rabbit won’t be the one punished, but me, right?”

Wearing an embarrassed smile from Su Tao’s words, Station Chief Tian replied, “There is actually another reason for this matter. Old Rabbit has never committed any huge crime, and he has only been doing trivial things, so there’s nothing we could do about him.”

“A huge or small crime is still a crime. You guys are just finding an excuse.” Su Tao solemnly replied.

Station Chief Tian felt ashamed by Su Tao’s words, but there’s nothing he could do about it since Su Tao was the national hero right now.

At that moment, a commotion came from outside before Station Chief Tian’s phone rang up.

“The City’s Deputy Mayor has come to pick you up personally!” Station Chief Tian said.

Hearing those words, Su Tao was stunned since he never expected that this matter would blow up for the City’s Deputy Mayor to come personally. Since it wasn’t appropriate for him to put on airs, he went out together with the Station Chief.

When Deputy Mayor Zhao saw Su Tao, he humorously said, “Nice to meet you, President Su. We just met in the conclusion conference back in the province, so I never expected that we would meet again so soon. I have already looked into this matter, and I’ve also given out orders that the tourist agency will be fined ¥300,000. At the same time, that tour guide who was leading the tour will have her certificate revoked. As for Old Rabbit and his friends, they will all be immediately arrested since they’d affected public security.”

Su Tao never expected that the other party would deal with this matter so decisively, so he smiled. “I’m sorry to have troubled you.”

“This is nothing!” Deputy Mayor Zhao smiled as he went on, “But please understand that it’s not easy for the tourism industry, and we can only close our eyes to many things. Then again, you’ve given us a wake-up call to our local tourism industry, especially when the epidemic had just passed. We definitely can’t allow something like this that affects our reputation to occur.”

Su Tao knew that Deputy Mayor Zhao had a strong awareness of the crisis. If they did not deal with this matter thoroughly, the consequences would be dire if Su Tao posts it on social media.

Su Tao wasn’t just a physician right now, he’s also an influential public figure.

“Mr. Zhao, I believe that the local tourism industry will definitely bloom with your awareness and vigilance.” Su Tao smiled.

In another interrogation room, Old Rabbit still had no idea what was happening right now.

After Su Tao left, Little Wen came in with some officers before he said to Old Rabbit, “Pack your things and come with us.”

“I’m not leaving. Why do I have to leave when the matter isn’t resolved yet?” Old Rabbit replied as he put on a sluggish appearance.

“There’s already an outcome to this matter. You’re suspected of extortion, cheating, and affecting public security. You’re now being detained in our custody. Our small temple can’t afford to have a Buddha like you here.” Little Wen explained and went on, “These two are prison officers, and they will bring you to a new environment.”

“What?!” Old Rabbit was shocked and bounced up from his chair, looking at the three officers.

As for the three other goons who were chatting with him, all of them wore unbelievable expressions since they knew that Old Rabbit had some connection in the city.

“Relax, let me make a call!” Old Rabbit immediately made a call, but the call was rejected. When he anxiously tried to make another call, he received the same outcome. His forehead was instantly covered in sweat at this moment.

“Come with us!” One of the prison officers came up and cuffed Old Rabbit before escorting him out.

Watching Old Rabbit being escorted, Little Wen felt satisfied in his heart. Old Rabbit’s group had been working as hired thugs of some tourist agencies recently, and he had done plenty of cheating. Now that he’s being sent to prison, there would be peace for some time.

Then again, the tourist agencies had no choice but to form a good relationship with local ruffians since they had a common interest.

Sitting in the front passenger seat, Deputy Mayor Zhao personally drove Su Tao to Jade Stone City, where a young woman was currently calling the baffled tourists to board another bus.

“To ensure that you have a good time, I changed a tourist agency for you.” Deputy Mayor Zhao explained with a smile.

“Thank you, Mr. Zhao!” Su Tao smiled in response.

“I’m only doing my effort to make things better.” Deputy Mayor Zhao went on, “There are definitely crooks in every industry, so please forgive us for this matter.”

“I understand the concept of having no fish in clear water. Take TCM, for example, if we allowed those charlatans to thrive, it would ruin the entire industry’s reputation. I believe that the tourism industry is the same, right?”

“I will definitely do my best to cleanse the city’s tourism industry!” Deputy Mayor Zhao bitterly smiled as he cupped his hands together.
