Rina pouted when she saw how sad Yuuma was and she pinched Han hard. Han looked towards her and saw her glaring at him and he rolled his eyes. Fine. Fine. It’s not like I was going to actually make her pay, you know. I just hate the way she acts!
From where they were hanging out Yue, Rin and Kim chuckled at the entire display. Rin already knew that Han wouldn’t make someone who looked as poor as that pay anything, but it was just funny how much he could fool people. She looked to the side and saw Lily glaring at Kim once again and she bonked her on the head. Don’t you dare freeze her, you idiot.
Once Rina managed to coerce Han into talking to Yuuma again, he accepted his own drink and decided it would be best to get this over with.
“Alright, just tell me what you need. I know he told me to meet you, so I’ll at least give you the benefit of a few minutes”
Yuuma suddenly became serious again.
“I was a bit unsure if it was you at first. When you first came to the Temple I watched you to be sure, but at least now I can be certain you’re the one the king chose.”
Huh? So that guy was a king? He seemed more like an eccentric adventurer who trusted too easily. But what did Han know? He just allowed her to continue.
“My purpose is to help you get through the Temple as quickly as possible. What you do with the knowledge I’ll give you isn’t my business since there’s nothing for me here anymore”
Han nodded to show that he understood. He already learned that the Binaries were being hunted by the Celestials. It would be hard for Yuuma to go back to the Celestial plane without being captured. The only thing she could do now was either roam about the Temple with no purpose or go to the mortal plane. But from the looks of it, she still saw mortals as lesser beings.
She wouldn’t want to go to the mortal plane no matter what! Han sighed as he waved her off.
“Well, I guess it doesn’t matter right now. I don’t think you can help me that much, you look like you haven’t even slept in months”
Yuuma blushed angrily and used her sleeve to clean the dirt on her cheek! She knew she looked like a scavenger, but it wasn’t her fault that her kind was being chased down like animals!
Han saw her glaring into space and stood up. He didn’t think it was right for them to have a conversation like this right now.
“How about you go take a bath and get some sleep first. We can talk in the morning when everyone is settled.”
Han looked her right in the eye as he said this, and Yuuma couldn’t do anything else but nod. Han then told all the girls to get to bed. Tomorrow was Friday, and it was going to be their busiest day of the week. They all needed as much rest as possible.
Once the girls were gone with Yuuma, Han took a seat at the bar again and chugged the glass of alcohol as he waited. After a few hours of waiting, Yuuma walked down from the main house again, but this time she looked very clean. She was wearing one of Kim’s jeans and a loose white top that Han knew belonged to Rin. He almost tore it off once when they were having sex so seeing it on someone else made him chuckle a little.
He cleared his throat when he saw Yuuma giving him a flat stare.
“Ah, you got my message. Good. I didn’t think I was being clear enough when I said it.”
Han knew that the Binaries were smart. Or at least they were more logical than any other race in the celestial plane, so he managed to just send a small message to Yuuma when they were talking. ‘We’ll talk in the morning when everyone is settled’. Han didn’t want to have this kind of conversation when everyone was present so he hoped that Yuuma would understand and come back out after the girls had gone to sleep.
Yuuma took a seat beside Han, and she was surprised when Han stood up and walked around to make a drink for her. Han managed to make one from what he learned by watching Rina and then he told Yuuma to start talking as he slid the glass over.
Han shrugged. He didn’t really think she could pay even if he asked her to. And from what he had seen, she seemed to enjoy the drinks. Han didn’t know what sort of life she had before coming here so he wouldn’t judge her.
“Yuuma, what is this Temple. Tell me what happened that made the Celestials decide to bring this Temple into existence.”
Yuuma’s face took on a disgusted look and Han knew that she must’ve remembered something nasty. She looked into the glass of alcohol while talking like she was spitting something foul from her mouth.
“Mortals are nothing to us, the very existence of the mortals was something we took as a simple fact of life, and we never bothered to interact with them before. The Celestials really didn’t give a damn about what the mortals did with themselves before now”
Han rose a brow. He could tell she wasn’t trying to insult the mortals, she was just saying the truth. The Celestials didn’t care about what the mortals did before. But what happened to make them suddenly give a damn? Were they trying to conquer…
“I can see that look on your face, it’s not what you’re thinking. Why would we need to conquer the mortal plane? It is too much work for the Celestials, and they’ve lived too long to be bothered with such trivial tasks. The only reason we’re doing this… is because of boredom”
Clank!
Han stopped in the middle of pouring himself a new glass of alcohol and he looked up at Yuuma. Her eyes didn’t waver from his stare and she looked right back at him with confidence. Boredom? They were doing this just because they were bored!?
Ha! Han felt like laughing his ass off! Imagine if the people here knew that they were just entertainment for the Celestials! It would be so funny watching them bitch and scream about revenge and retribution! Han let out a small chuckle at the thought.
Yuuma was shocked when Han laughed. Was he not supposed to be angry that he was just entertainment for the Celestials? What kind of person laughs at something like that!?
“Has anyone actually managed to win and go to that Celestial plane? I don’t know about you, but I don’t think people would allow their entertainment to leave their control like that”
Yuuma waved one hand to tell him that he was wrong. Of course, people have entered the Celestial plane, how long did he think they have been doing this for?
“Yes, people have entered before. But they are not really a part of it. These people are seen as lesser beings and they will always be lesser beings to the Celestials. They might be in the Celestial plane but the Celestials made sure to remind them who they answer to”
Han didn’t know why, but once Yuuma said this, the image of Dorea and that time when she was taken away to stand trial flashed through his mind. Huh? Was she also one of the chosen who entered the Celestial plane? The fact that Han could see her, and she didn’t have as much say as that scientist just further pushed Han into believing his theory. Well. He could always investigate it later.
“So, what is it that you and your race want from me. Because that is what this is, isn’t it? Your king already told me what he wants, but I can see that you want something else also. Tell me, Yuuma, what is it?”
Yuuma narrowed her eyes. She never even let it slip that she wanted something different from her king. How did this man figure it out!? Well, he was the one that the king chose as his wielder, so it wasn’t surprising. She would just have to get used to it.
“The Celestials don’t have a system for their leadership. Up there, only the strongest Celestials rules the weaker ones. My king was one of the strongest and he would have been the leader if he wasn’t just a kind-hearted kind of person. He wants revenge for us, and I admire him the most for that, but I know that what my people need is restoration.. We have been hunted for years and our numbers have dwindled so much that we are almost extinct. I want you to stop them from hunting us and restore us to the Celestial plane”
