I yawn as walk down the snow covered streets. I watch as my breath is visibly carried away by the harsh breeze. Being in kalos for so long I'd forgotten how cold it was here. Luckily I hadn't completely lost my tolerance but it'd be a while before to get accustomed to the change in environment. What I wasn't getting accustomed to was walking. I couldn't help but sigh as I stared at the buttons on my shoes. I'd spent weeks learning to skate so that I could get the rollerblade function integrated into my boots. Admittedly it was just for fun but it turned out to be super convenient. I even bought a few spares before I left but looking at the ground it felt like a waist.

"My money..." I cried.

"Maw?" Mawster floats around me in confusion.

I sigh as I watch it hover over me. "It's nothing just a little tired. Let's pick up the pace a little a dewgong ranch should be near if I remember correctly." Well I say ranch but they look more like the open exhibits at aquariums than anything. I stop in fron of a large blue building with a surf logo. I step through the automatic blue doors and a woman at the counter greets me.

"Hello and welcome to Ica's Dewgong ranch. If this is your first time you'll need to take courses on riding and handling. This of course is all provided in our facility for a small fee."

I walk up to the counter and show her my license. I'd long since taken the courses she was talking about. It's necessary to get anywhere quickly and safely with our frigid seas. There were boats but..the cost..

The looks at it before smiling. "Good then go to through the doors on the left and our caretaker will assist you in picking out a dewgong."

"Alright then. Come on Mawster let's go pick out a ride." I call for it and start for the doors but the womans voice stops me.

"Ah wait! Pokemon aren't allowed inside. They may startle the dewgong so we ask that they're kept in their pokeballs. Also I just wanted to inform you your license is going to expire soon. It'd be best to go through the renewal process. If your in a hurry then I suggest doing so at the next ranch you visit."

Ah that made sense. It had been a while. I was honestly surprised it wasn't expired already. I plan to stay home for a bit so I don't think I'll need dewgong ride for a while.

"Thank you I'll renew it later." She respectfully nods and I turn to Mawster pokeball in hand. I felt bad I'd just told it it could stay outside the ball, but I couldn't let it wait outside for me and thinking about it I would've had to eventually anyways during the ride.

"Maw..." Mawster looks down sadly.

"Ah don't be like that its only for a bit then I'll let you back out! A-and then we can go home and get you some treats. Its been a long time since you had moms pokepuffs right?

"Maw? Maw?" It looked up at me as if asking if I promised and I nodded in response.
"Maw!" It floats in a circle around me happily before taping the pokeball. A red light flashes sucking it in. The woman giggles at the display and I quickly head to the doors in embarrassment. An open stadium awaits me filled with dewgong. It's quite large with half of the stadium being ice and snow with the other half being water. I watch as a group quickly dive seemingly racing each other while others lay on flat ice chunks. As I watch the spectacle a voice calls out to me. I turn to meet it's owner, a man in a large blue coat with the building logo on its logo. He looks up and down at me stroking his chin before smiling.

"You need a dewgong right? Got one that's just the right fit follow me." He walks away and I quickly follow as he leads me to the stadium's opening. He must be the caretaker that lady was talking about. He takes me on to the ice and we start to head towards a group of dewgong lounging peacefully on the ice.

"Watch your step slipping hurts and getting wacked by a tail after stepping on it hurts worse." He laughs but I quickly look down. I don't know if he was being serious or not but that didn't sound fun. We eventually stop in front of the dewgong. Some look over at us curiously while others ignore us as they lounge. The man steps through a few and pats a dewgongs head.
"This one's perfect, whaddya think? He asks, my eyes trail down to the dewgong below him.

"How many rides has it given."

"So far 5 I think. It only just evolved so I'm trying to get it as much experience as possible."

"I see." I get closer and bend down in front of it. It'd been a while since I'd ridden one myself so I guess we fit pretty well.
"Whaddya think buddy wanna give me a ride?"

"Gong!"

"Heh I'll take that as a yes." As I pat the the dewgongs head the man hands me a pokeball.
"I don't think this needs to be said but it's our policy that you hear this before recieving this ball. You are not to use Ica ranch dewgongs for battle. You are only to use them for riding. You must check in with an Ica brand ranch before a week passes for inspection. If you fail to do so you will be penalized from borrowing our dewgongs indefinitely and will have to make an appeal to regain the privilege of doing so."

I back away as he berates me with numerous rules and guidelines. I raise my hands as he gets to the penalties "I get it I get it. I understand so just give me the ball."

He laughs and hands me the ball. I sigh in relief and quickly press it against the dewgong catching it. Afrer I politely bow to the caretaker and leave immediately heading for the sea. My home is located in a small fishing village. I could walk but the path is obscure and it'd take a while. I toss the dewgongs pokeball in the air, releasing it into the water. "You'll be much faster." I say as I hop onto the saddle on it's back. Cold water splashes against my legs but I'd have to get used to it as things went on.
"No use taking things slow, forward!" I yell and the dewgong takes off. I can hear its tail splash against the water as we dart forward. I hold onto the reins around it's neck tightly trying not to get blown off.
"Ok ok! Maybe we can go a little slower!

In Melani village, a girl with purple hair tied up in a pony tail sits at a table peeling apples as children play in the snow. A nun walks over to her side grabbing one of the unpeeled apples. "Allow me to take over." She says sweetly. "There's no need mother I'm almost done anywa-" the nun takes the knife from her hand. "I will take over. You have a visitor in the church to tend to."

The girl sighs and puts the half peeled apple down. "Alright fine it's not like I'm a sister anyways. Dont be surprised if you dont catch me helping anymore." She says as she walks towards the doors to the church. "I wish you wouldn't.." the nun says to herself as the girl disappears into the church.

A middle aged man in fishing gear and a large coat sits on a bench in front of a shrine. His fading brown hair is covered by a fishing hat. His canted eyes stare off into the air as if in deep contemplation before turning his neck to the slamming of a door. "Ah Toko you came I've been waiting for you." Toko takes off her leather jacket and hangs it onto a chair before joining him on the bench. "Mother practically forced me but yeah I came, didn't expect you to be the visitor though. Shouldn't the village leader be more busy?"

He smiles, "I could ask the same of you. Cleaning, cooking, looking after the children, taking care of the wild Digsee around the village,  you've been doing a lot for the past few years do you plan on becoming a sister?" He laughs before turning to receive her unamused glare.

"Be serious old man. My dreams the same as it's always been."

"Yes yes to be champion correct?" He asks nontiolauntly.

"Damn straight! I'll beat Agnes to thank her for helping our village and the orphanage. Then I'll help this village grow even more than it ever did under you. So quit it with the jokes and ready yourself for retirement already."

"Heh well that does sound nice and good."

"Sounds..it only sounds good?" Her eyes twitch in anger at his words.

"Toko why haven't you left yet? It's been years and your past the point of just trying to prepare. What are you waiting for?" He asks to a silent response. The girl stands up and throws her leather jacket back on.

"If I knew you just came to piss me off I would've taken my chance arguing with mother." She stomps down the aisle towards the door.

"Yuri is on her way back home."

She immediately stops turning back towards him to ask for confirmation. "What did you just say?"

"My daughter sent a letter a week ago, she said she was coming home. She's probably already arrived by now and is on her way as we speak."

"Why are you telling me this?" She asks gritting her teeth in anger.

"You were best friends when you were kids, rivals who shared the same dream. I thought you'd be happy to see her again."

She slams her fist down on the bench beside her. "Dont call her my rival! She doesn't even deserve to call herself a trainer much less claim to share the same dream as me."
"Oho is that really how you feel? Because I get the impression you've been waiting for her."

She turns away from him again. "...shut up. I want nothing to do with her. She can frolic around the village if she wants. Go play family reunion I don't care. But if she comes to this orphanage I will crush her."
The man just stays quiet smiling as Toko leaves slamming the door behind her.
