Ors awakened in the school parking lot, laying on his back with eight students surrounding him and whispering to each other. "Did that... just happen?"
"Whoa! He's alive!" Murmurs echoed above Ors, who replied by jumping to his feet and clenching his fists.
Species: Human IV

Level: 4

'Ah, my type changed and I levelled up three times. Something felt different, I just didn't expect that different.' Jumping as high as he could, Ors performed two summersaults to land outside the circle of people. "Come on, we'll be late to class at this rate!"
At max speed, Ors surpassed 30 miles per hour, around third fastest in school and a bit beyond Earth's world record.
Everyone in school knew who that boy was at this point. One doesn't stay unknown as the youngest graduate in school history, after all.
He rounded the corner, nearly crashing into a young girl. She had pink hair mostly covered by a beanie, a large wad of bubble gum in her mouth, and tattoos of gears on her neck. She raised a small metal bat and knocked him to the side without dealing any damage.
Kids at this school were allowed to carry weapons and even fight, as long as it didn't result in any real injury, as battles in the wild were common. Rarely did anyone actually do so though, as most of the kids here were coddled rich brats.
The only real exceptions to this rule who still stood at the top were Ors himself, this girl Alynn, Ors' best friend Doto, and the school's rank 1, Sylvester. Sylvester was rich, but not a brat, or coddled. He was a picturesque nice guy on the outside, but a true genius in every sense of the word within, who did nothing but study. His knowledge probably even surpassed Ors.
The only thing that Ors really had was knowledge on items and levels. The concept of things like fire stones, quick claws, and electirizers were things only Ors knew about, and presumably higher ups in the League, since Arcanine, Kingdra, and Electivire existed but were considered legendaries. Levels were simply not used in this world.
Ors beat out Alynn in knowledge, but lost in sheer strength, and beat Sylvester in strength but lost in knowledge. He beat both in aura/energy manipulation though, as the concept had only recently been brought up in class for seniors, even though graduation was only three days away.
Going over the information he had about his classmates in an instant, he softly landed behind Alynn. "Tch, you and that stupid bat..." He whispered to himself.
She quickly turned on him. "The fuck you say about Chalka?"
"I'm not scared of some crazy bitch who names a baseball bat that's her main form of attack!" Ors spat on the ground, forgetting he was supposed to use his upper class manners at the school.
Alynn replied to that with a swing of her bat, aiming to crack a rib. Ors quickly added his points to defense before grinning and catching the bat by padding his hand with normal type energy.
Before his misadventures with his grandfather, Ors' school rankings would be third place in speed, second in strength, second in pokemon theory, and third in practical knowledge (like math, english, and science).
Now, he imagined that would change to first in strength and possibly second in speed, putting him in second place overall in the school ranking, provided he could mobilize his aura to affect his speed.
He proved his strength supremacy by stopping the bat's swing in its tracks, before making the bat groan in duress. He couldn't snap metal in half using his grip strength quite yet, but he felt if he used all of his aura at once he would probably be able to disfigure the bat.
"Come on, Alynn, class time. We'll fight later." Ors sauntered into the building behind Alynn, while she stood still in shock, gum falling out of her mouth.
Inside the classroom, senior homeroom teacher Brandon calmly sat at a desk, polishing a pokeball. Five minutes later, the last eleven students walked in.
"Good, three minutes to spare." Brandon stood, releasing his pokemon from the shimmering ball. A small Vulpix appeared next to him as the intercom released static and a powerful voice.
"We have a mere three days before you're all going to be graduates. Some of you will go on a journey in the wild, some of you will go further in your schooling, and some of you will take on other jobs, like researchers or gym trainers." Ors and Alynn both spat on the ground at the idea of becoming anything but an adventurer.

"But, though these things separate you, you are connected by circumstance and your incredible aptitude to become pokemon trainers. Whether through sheer hard work, extreme talent, or dumb luck, you are here now, and you are the future of pokemon training. Train your pokemon, travel the gym circuit, and fulfill your potential!" The intercom shut off.
Most of the kids didn't know how to respond, awkward applause filling the room after a few moments.
"Ahem," Brandon coughed, somewhat embarrassed for the principal. "Everyone, please hand in your final essays on the methodology of pokemon classification. These last three days will be practical, and you will each choose your pokemon starter."
After a bit of shenanigans with Alynn "forgetting her essay on the printer" the group headed outside. As they walked, a kid one year older than Ors leaped up to sit on his shoulders.
"Oof! Ow, what's up Doto?" The kid had also skipped a grade, and despite being older, was judged by the city as having even greater prospects than Ors. Thus despite being an orphan, he got a full ride to Fennel High.
Being an orphan, his coping mechanism for losing his family in a fire was to latch onto Ors like a brother.
"Nothing much, just taking a ride down." Doto grinned, exerting more energy to actually stay on Ors back than just walk himself.
"Hey, Doto. Make sure you do your best on this last physical test today, will you? I talked to the principal last week and he said that today's tests will decide who gets to choose their starter first."
The spider monkey nodded seriously. "I planned on it. I gotta make it into the top five at least, otherwise I'll be forced to pay for all my years of tuition. I'll basically be a debt slave haha."
Arriving in the middle of a field, six machines sat in the middle of a 400 meter track. The machines were for: deadlift, bench press, back squat, punching, defense, and dodging.
The test began with the lowest scorers in the last test going first. Results like 460 pound deadlifts and dodging only three attacks showed how little training these mostly 18-year-olds did.
Finally, it was Doto's turn. He came in eighth last time, but did exceptionally well this time, deadlifting 840 pounds, punching a score of 1,767, and even dodging 21 attacks from the machine. This was the highest result in the class of 44 thus far.
The seventh placer from last time fell behind Doto, all the way until Alynn, who was third place from last time. She beat him in everything except dodging, easily taking first place in strength.
This was until Ors' turn. His aura didn't help him with base strength, only explosive power. Were a clean and jerk part of the test, he could use aura there, but he lost in both bench press and back squat, only barely taking it in deadlift. Finally, it was time for punching.
A powerful white glow surrounded his fist as teachers and students alike shouted in surprise. With one massive cross, the number on the punching machine rose higher and higher. It finally stopped at 4,129.
Everything after that was lackluster, to say the least. After everyone performed a run to finish, and the results of the test, essay included, were announced when they returned.
1st in strength (combined weightlifting): Alynn 3,840#
1st in attack (punching): Ors 4,129
1st in defense (number of attacks taken): Ors 51
1st in dodging (number of attacks dodged): Sylvester/Doto tie 21
1st in 400m run: Ors 36 seconds
1st in theory (essay): Sylvester
Ors managed to take the spot of first place in the class rankings, with 1st in attack, defense, and speed, 2nd in strength and theory, and 3rd in dodging. Sylvester placed second, and Doto placed third, barely beating out Alynn because she got 17th in theory, while Doto consistently placed in top 5.
This meant that the first to choose his starter would be Ors himself. After receiving scowls from some and congratulations from others, the winner was taken into a large building at the center of the campus. This building tripled as a pokemon center, nursery, and pokemon gym, though the identity of the gym leader was a rather contentious topic, as they were never around.
Inside this building, there were 50 pokemon. All the pokemon there had, at the minimum, an orange potential, but the specific potential and ability was left unknown until the trainer chose the pokemon.
Ors popped his back and cracked his knuckles, before preparing to use Identify on every single pokemon there.
