Gorn's heart started to beat faster and faster. Even though his position was the lowest, he was going to participate in a dungeon raid for the first time in his life. Something he only dreamt of doing until that moment.
.
.
.
Landing, everyone disembarked. Gorn remained frozen for a moment. In front of him was the portal that led to the dungeon. It was like a purple round mass of energy that pulsated incessantly, giving one a sense of inferiority.
What followed were a few simple instructions then in an orderly fashion everyone entered the portal.
It was as simple as going through a door. Gorn's vision turned blurry for a moment then he found himself in what looked like a desert. There was still a blue sky and a sun shining above his head.
The ones in charge have been before to that place so everything was familiar to them.
All of a sudden a big scorpion appeared from below the sand. At a height of more than two meters, with sharp pincers and a tail full of poison it looked more than menacing; In fact, it looked deadly.
Killing monsters, in reality, was something else entirely than killing them in video games. Before the monster had any chance to land a hit, it was bombarded by water balls, and water arrows, skills one would mostly find in Aqua Guild.
The monster had no chance in front of a barrage of such skills. In a short time, it fell dead to the side. Gorn let out a breath of relief.
The group of people continued to advance, ignoring the corpse.
'Oi oi, aren't you going to dismantle that scorpion? There are quite a few valuable parts to be had.'
Gorn's former job was dismantling such monsters, so he knew the value of some things. It wasn't an easy job, and it took some time to obtain the valuable parts.
'Maybe it's not worth the time for them...'
With some reluctance, Gorn left the scorpion behind. The same scene happened multiple times. The appearance of scorpions seemed random, but Gorn soon found out that they had a way to tell when and where the scorpions would appear, avoiding a sneak attack.
Being at the back Gorn enjoyed the trip. It pained him to abandon free money, unfortunately, he had no choice.
After some time they finally reached their destination. In front of them were huge shiny crystals that stood one and a half meters tall.
Those crystals were one of the most used materials that came out of dungeons. It had a wide variety of applications, but it was at the same time very expensive.
"Alright boys, it's our time to shine!"
Taking off their shirts, the men grabbed the pick-axes and started to hit at those crystals.
The women started to whistle while looking at the muscular men working. The scene was obviously awkward for Gorn. Nonetheless, he also took off his shirt, grabbed the pick axe, and started to hit those crystals.
The material could not be simply unrooted from the ground, it needed to be sectioned into smaller pieces. The crystals were immune to everything except physical attacks.
Using half of his force Gorn hit the nearest crystal. Contrary to his expectation, only a small dent appeared.
'You got to be kidding me...'
The durability of that crystal was on another level. Looking back he saw multiple beautiful women looking his way while shouting.
"You can do it!"
"Go for it!"
"Harder! Harder!"
The scene was awkward beyond words, but at the same time pleasant. He had no idea how sincere those cheers were, but it was something he rarely experienced in his life.
'These cheers are actually affecting me. Whatever, I need to earn that money, and make a good impression...'
Using full force Gorn started to work like a madman. His muscles swell, almost doubling in size due to the great stress. While his body wasn't so gigantic, it was well-defined.
Furthermore, while not being so big, he exerted even more force than those bulkier fellows.
Most of the women present turned their eyes toward him, clearly enjoying his body more than that of his colleagues. Envy surged in that area.
You have obtained x1 energy crystal!
'What?!'
Gorn froze for a moment. Looking around he saw nothing on the ground. The pieces that fell were put in a pile to the side, so it couldn't possibly be those things.
'Inventory...'
He had something that he could not see. If he could not see it, it meant it was in his inventory.
'Come to think of it, I also have those leather pants, if I didn't directly equip those, what would have happened with them?'
No inventory option was seen present, but that didn't necessarily mean there wasn't one.

'I can't say it out loud, I don't know if others can also see my status screen, or anything else related to my game-like abilities. It's too risky. I'll have to wait until I get home for that.'
Until then Gorn exerted even more force and energy. The energy crystals were very expensive. If he could obtain a few of them that would be more than awesome.
You have obtained x1 energy crystal!
After another hour, he obtained another crystal.
'What if I kill some of the scorpions or some of the monsters that are inside dungeons, will I be able to get orbs of power and items?!'
Gorn's smile turned savage. He was now small, but endless potential seemed to be lurking around him. With great passion, he started to hit those energy crystals like there was no tomorrow.
"Look at that man, isn't he just mining energy crystals? Why is he looking like that?"
"Yea, he looks full of confidence, not even a speck of inferiority present. That kinda turns me on..."
"Hey Bellona, you should go talk with that man. It's about time you got a boyfriend. His looks and spirit are quite nice, makes me want to have a go at him in bed."
Bellona blushed, she seemed rather shy and quiet.
"Stop it, you know I'm not that kind of a person!" refuted Bellona.
While everyone was busy talking, guarding, and other stuff, the boys, including Gorn were working really hard to excavate those crystals. After half of the time passed, it was time for a small break.
One small glance was enough to see who was the strongest. Gorn's pile of energy crystals was the biggest. No one said anything. Some of the personnel in charge prepared food for all the people present.
Yet again, two sides were formed. The 'miners', and the guild people. It was obvious that those cheers from before were mostly empty words. The difference in status was too big. It rarely happened for the two sides to interact about something else than work-related. Even if that happened, it was done in secret, or as a form of a joke.
Gorn couldn't care less, he was eager to improve, to try new things.

The break was soon over, and they got back to work.
You have obtained x1 energy crystal!
Every time Gorn obtained an energy crystal his mood turned for the better. Humming some song he knew, Gorn gave it his all excavating.
.
.
.
"All right everyone, time is up!"
All the crystals excavated were quickly put away, and everyone departed towards the exit. On the way back they encounter fewer monsters. There was sand as far as his eyes could see. Gorn wondered how big the dungeon was, alas that was a question for some other time.
Because the dungeon was defeated before, there was present a portal inside, just like on the outside, so there was no need for return stones.
Once outside, the girl that assessed his strength came to their group with a big stack of money in her hands. Soon, Gorn found himself with four thousand dollars in his possession.
"Thank you for your cooperation!"
"Thank you as well."
With those words, Gorn quickly changed and departed from that place. He went directly to his home, without even stopping to get some food. After some time he reached his place. The first thing he did was check for his phone. Thankfully it was still where he put it. The next thing he did was say out loud the word 'inventory'.
"Inventory!"
In front of his face appeared a blue screen that was split into twelve squares. Inside one of those squares was the image of an energy crystal, as well as a text written below.
Energy crystal x8
Focusing a little, he wished for all the energy crystals to appear in front of him. In the next moment, there were eight shiny pieces of crystals on the floor in front of him.
Gorn started to dance out of pure joy. The next thing he wanted to try was to put the phone inside his inventory. With no problems whatsoever, the phone appeared inside the inventory. Taking it out was as easy as putting it inside.
"Fuck yea! This solves one of my biggest concerns."
