The Crown prince grabbed my arm tightly and stood me up by force, murmuring.
“You’ve gone and done it –Liesel Crow.”
With that, he led me out of the audience chamber with ferocious force. The audience hall was still abuzz with the saint’s departure, and no one was paying attention to us.
We went out into the corridor and jumped out onto the balcony, where he grabbed me and led me outside.
It was still raining heavily outside, and we were soaking wet in no time.
“No! Your Highness!”
The crown prince headed for the stairs leading from the balcony to the garden and dragged me down. My feet tangled, I tripped on the garden lawn, and my shoes fell off.
The lawn soaked up the rain and soon my socks were soaking wet.
The crown prince took his hand away from mine, pulled out the sword hanging from his waist, and raised it at me.
(He’s going to kill me!)
My heart constricts with fear.
I quickly started running toward the back of the garden.
“Wait!”
I heard the crown prince’s footsteps chasing after me, splashing water.
I’m running so quickly that I don’t have time to perform my magic. I think I have to do something, but I am too panicked to think straight.
(Which way? Where do I run to!)
In the garden stands the Golden Palace. There are many guards there.
I run toward the Golden Palace, but the path is blocked by a pond on the way, and as I runs to the side to go around, the crown prince grabs me by the right arm and drags me down.
I fall into the puddle and a large amount of water splashes all over me. On top of my already soaked body.
As soon as I roll over, the crown prince mounts on top of me.
My eyes wandered around to look at my surroundings, but the gardens were so hazy from the rain that I could only see close up. With no visibility, we must not have been visible from either the Royal Palace or the Golden Retreat.
I looked up to see the crown prince’s sword about to swing straight down on my face.
I frantically moved my head away from the sword, trying to escape from its tip.
The sword plunged into the grass, right next to my left ear, with a dull clang as it curled through my hair.
I was too terrified to look up. Both of my hands, which I had raised in a moment of panic, were sewn to the ground by the crown prince with his left hand.
The pouring rain makes it difficult to open my eyes.
Soon, a low voice filled with quiet anger poured down from overhead.
“I finally understand. What the hell. You have a memory too, Liesel Crow.”

My body froze and I couldn’t move. I manage to open my eyes and look up fearfully at the face of the crown prince riding on top of me.
His face is in a haze, so I can’t see him clearly.
But I could clearly see his anger from the strength of his hold on my wrist.
No wonder. I had ruined his efforts.
“You put on a hell of a show. It was a spectacular, brilliant play. I had no idea you could pull off such a twist. You were so ineffectual, but now you look so different. When did you turn the Jumeaux family into your allies? I didn’t expect you to remember everything.”
“I remember you, and I know you’re Gideon, Duke of Lancaster. You two went back in time and switched places, didn’t you?”
The Crown prince laughed as he sprawled back.
Then he took his hand off his sword, grabbed me by the chin, and glared at me so close I could feel his breath.
“That Ulysses was so beautiful that I hated him to the point of vomiting, but if you had been a little more obedient, I wouldn’t have had to kill you”.
“Why are you doing this?”
The crown prince’s brown eyes were shaded. The rain beating down on him fell on me in large drops.
“I hated that prince”, he muttered.
Then he began to speak with a distant look in his eyes.
Before time rewound.
Gideon had been the crown prince’s playmate and frequent visitor to the palace since he was a child.
However, he actually disliked the crown prince.
Whenever Gideon mistreated or was mean to the ladies-in-waiting, the crown prince told him to stop. He didn’t like that.
People are divided into those who are superior and those who are oppressed. So why protect those who are lower in rank?
What is wrong with stepping on a maid who deserved to be stepped on?
What is wrong with kicking a dirty-faced horseman into a pile of horse dung?
Gideon hated the crown prince who preached “the right thing”.
To begin with, the Lancaster family’s ancestor was one of the princes. He was an eternal vassal, even though he shared the same ancestry.
Gideon had tried.
