This is the first story I’ve written outside of school stuff. I hope you’ve enjoyed it so far! At the time of writing this I have ~150k words written, but in the last 8 months I’ve only written like ~10k. I was about to give up on it but I decided I might as well post it and maybe I will get some motivation from comments, or maybe if you keep reading you can tell me where the story loses steam, and I will be able to fix it or at least learn from it :)
As far as like… content warnings, I think the only real one is excessive swearing, which I love. I certainly intend for the story to have plenty of dark moments, butttt yeah idk I guess I will just try to warn for triggers.
I’m gonna write the academy years. It seems fun, and like a waste to skip! Maybe that’s why my story drags… hmm… -_-
What is the consensus on author’s notes? I can feel myself wanting to write like really long ones about every little thing, but I also kinda feel like that takes away from the story a bit? My thought for now was to make this really long one and then go for a “less is more” kind of approach.
I go back and forth on whether to write “oh my god” or “oh my kami” (I know, if I was gonna use kami it would be dumb to use it like that…). I’ll probably stick with omg and/or other phrases you’d hear in English speaking places, but I may be a little inconsistent with that and also with using random Japanese, e.g. calling anbu masks “inu” or “hound” or both.
Prologues aside, I will be moving in roughly chronological order.
I have found myself making up horrible google translate words so apologies for that… like looking up the word for mind and the word for paralyze and just mashing them together shamelessly and adding “no jutsu” to the end. I will include notes to explain the intent of the word at the start or end of the chapter, depending on level of spoileriness.
My ‘f’ key is kinda broken… if you see any typos (f-key related or not) pls let me know.
What else… I know nothing of botany but intend to write about it…
I may include another long author note about inspirations and motivations and such for the story at some point, but it feels a little self indulgent for now. But maybe ppl are interested in stuff like that idk.
Uhmmmmmm ok that’s enough authorial noting I think. I hope you are having a lovely day :)
Oh! I thought of one more. I put some effort into coming up with my own timeline of events, mostly based off of this person’s website: https://keepyourpantsongohan.tumblr.com/post/170439568877/timeline-of-naruto-universe . I can’t remember all the decisions I made but real quick:
Year 0: Uzumakis start recording history, estimating Hagomoro was born 350 years before year 0. Why did I not have my timeline start at that -350? I was just asking that question myself and don’t know the answer.
