Chapter 16 – Happy Birthday as well as Happy Children’s Day ~

These two days coincided with the junior high school mock exams. Today was the last day. Qi Anan had been nervous and excited all day, and all the exam questions were done smoothly.

The moment the bell rang, Qi Anan handed in her paper and ran outside. She and Jiang Lu weren’t in the same examination room. When she arrived at the door of Jiang Lu’s examination room, she glanced through the window. He was finishing packing and walking out.

“Jiang Lu!” Qi Anan’s eyes curved with a smile, and she waved at him, “What a coincidence, I just happened to see you!”

“Qi Anan, don’t get so close to me.” Jiang Lu took two steps back consciously.

He was helpless in his heart, his voice deliberately remained cold, and he kept a half-meter distance from Qi Anan. She was ignorant, so he always had to worry about her.

Qi Anan didn’t care. She took two or three steps forward, almost making this half meter disappear: “You had so many rules when we went together before, I don’t care.”

Her cub still didn’t seem to be used to being in close contact with people. This wasn’t good. When her daughter came, sooner or later, they would have to walk together side by side.

Seeing the girl next to him walking to his side within two steps, Jiang Lu sighed in his heart. He had no other way, so he had to pick up his pace slightly.

Initially, he “abandoned” her and no longer did the same when he came home from school with her. He had long legs and walked fast, and Qi Anan couldn’t catch up with him trotting over. Over time, she knew what he wanted, and she could only pitifully think about going home with him.

Seeing Jiang Lu doing the same thing again, Qi Anan really wanted to yell at his back to not run. Are you serious? This mother just wants to celebrate your birthday. Why are you running so fast?

If it were an ordinary day, it would be fine, but today was a special day, so Qi Anan had to resign herself to speed up her pace and catch up with the upright back.

This was the end of the exam, so everyone was going out. There were too many people. Qi Anan was trying to catch up with Jiang Lu. Suddenly she was bumped on the shoulder, her center of gravity became unstable, and she fell to the ground gloriously all of a sudden.

This fall was too incredible! She couldn’t hold onto her pencil case, and it crashed to the ground. All her stationery spilled all over the place.

It was so embarrassing! Qi Anan was so depressed that she accepted her fate and was about to get up on the ground, but she heard a rush of footsteps in front of her.

A pair of slender and powerful hands appeared in view, carefully supporting her elbow: “Why are you so careless?”

Qi Anan looked up and straight into Jiang Lu’s anxious eyes. It was amazing, this was the first time she saw such abundant emotions from his pitch-black pupils, but the pain in both her knees was too much to make her think about it.

Jiang Lu’s eyebrows were wrinkled, but his gestures were gentle: “Come on, stand up first.”

He helped her up. Only then did he realize, and his movements stiffened. Still, Qi Anan looked as usual and smiled at him naturally. Jiang Lu was slightly relieved in his heart and carefully withdrew his hand.

At this moment, the student who accidentally hit her picked up Qi Anan’s stationery and handed it back to her: “I’m sorry, classmate, I didn’t mean to. How are you? Is it serious? Do you want to go to the hospital for a checkup?”

Sigh, this fall was nothing ah. Besides, you could regard this as letting me catch up with this ungrateful cub in disguise, which could be considered helping me. Qi Anan waved her hand indifferently: “It’s okay, it’s okay, it’s nothing serious. Don’t worry.”

She smiled, with two shallow dimples on her face, warm and soft. The boy on the opposite side was obviously taken aback and nodded: “Then… that’s good. I knocked you down. If you feel uncomfortable when you go back, you can call me.” He tore off a piece of paper, hurriedly wrote down his phone number, and handed it to Qi Anan.

Although Qi Anan wasn’t going to look for compensation from him, she casually took it to reassure him: “I know, it’s really okay. You can go.”

The boy looked at Qi Anan again and then left in a daze.

Jiang Lu glanced at the boy’s back. His emotions weren’t visible in the pitch-black pupils of his eyes, and only when his gaze turned back to Qi Anan did he soften again: “Can you still walk?”

Qi Anan cleared her throat and deliberately teased him: “Not only can you walk, but you can also walk very fast.”

Jiang Lu didn’t say anything, he lowered his eyes, and his long eyelashes hung in silence. Looking at it like this, he clearly blamed himself for being difficult.

Qi Anan was startled to see Jiang Lu really seriously blaming himself. She hurriedly fumbled to coax him: “Cub, what are you doing? Y-You aren’t allowed to think nonsense ah. It’s just that I’m a bit unlucky; if you want to blame someone, you should blame that four-eyes. What does it have to do with you ah? I’m not chasing you because you’re walking fast. I’m walking slower than I’m taking a walk. Really.”

Jiang Lu’s head was lowered, and she couldn’t see his expression, so Qi Anan could only bend over slightly to look at his face from below.

She didn’t know that when she looked at people from this perspective, her eyes would be round and add to her cuteness. Jiang Lu’s heart softened, and he pointed to the flight of steps next to him: “You sit here. First, I’ll go buy iodine.”

Just now, he was in a hurry to help Qi Anan regardless of his status. But now that his sanity had returned. He didn’t dare touch her with these hands again.

When Jiang Lu returned, Qi Anan got a bottle of water from somewhere and rinsed the wound on her knee with a slight hum.

Her calves were straight and white, and she was so slender that Jiang Lu’s eyes seemed to be burned, and when he saw the scars on her knees, he couldn’t help frowning slightly.

Jiang Lu handed the medicine over: “Qi Anan… Put some medicine.”

“Thank you ah. Jiang Lu.” Qi Anan took it.

After rubbing it for a while, he couldn’t help but remind her: “Hey…Be careful, don’t rub it so hard.”

Qi Anan thoughtlessly and casually agreed: “It’s nothing, and it doesn’t hurt. Don’t worry, I’m very tough.”

Jiang Lu curled the corners of his lips helplessly and knelt down in front of her: “Give it to me.”

He treated Qi Anan’s wound carefully. As he was about to turn around, he saw Qi Anan smiling at him and beckoned mysteriously: “Jiang Lu, wait a minute.”

The evening wind blew, and the young man’s black hair was slightly messy. Jiang Lu didn’t move his feet immediately: “What’s the matter?”

Qi Anan greeted him with a smile: “Come over, and you’ll know, sit here.”

She patted the steps beside her heroically: “Hurry up, hurry up.”

Jiang Lu was bewitched. He walked over and sat down.

“Jiang Lu, happy birthday.” A sweet voice came. Qi Anan held her chin to look at him with a bright smile. “As well as Happy Children’s Day.”

The afterglow of the setting sun sprinkled on the young girl’s face. Her shiny white face reflected a shallow golden light. She was beautiful, like a painting.

Jiang Lu was taken aback.

He blinked slowly and even glanced at Qi Anan in somewhat of a daze. Only a moment later did he feel, as an afterthought, a slight dense stabbing pain coming from his heart.

Who could have thought that by all possible means, she would actually celebrate his birthday?

He wasn’t qualified to fantasize about being told happy birthday. This was the first time he received birthday wishes.

The girl in front of him used a warm and pure smile. She congratulated him on such a dirty anniversary without malice.

Jiang Lu’s fingers trembled a little He quietly put his hand on her knees and said: “Thank you.”

Qi Anan happily took out a red peace talisman from her coat pocket and handed it over: “This is a birthday present for you. I personally asked for a peace talisman to keep you happy and safe for the rest of your life.”

She thought about it. She didn’t give the things Yu Tianyang said. Those gifts were good, but she felt that her cub would unlikely accept them. After all, he was a teenager with a sensitive mind, and sending something too expensive would only add to his burden.

This peace amulet was perfect and could express her heart. As an attentive mother, she hoped her cub could live a safe life, grow up happily, and live happily with the person he liked.

Of course, it would be better if he could send more candy to his mother in the future.

Jiang Lu looked at the birthday gift Qi Anan handed over and was taken aback for a moment. Her soft little hands were holding the red peace talisman so tenderly that he couldn’t help but hold his breath and rub his hands on the clothes at a loss.

Finally, Jiang Lu slowly stretched out his hands and accepted the gift: “Thank you, I’ll keep it well.”

His voice was soft, but his tone was very willful and earnest.

Qi Anan’s smile was lovely. He only glanced at it in silence. He forced himself to turn his head and slowly clenched the peace talisman in the palm of his hand.
