Ji Ziming looked up at Pei Ge. “Aren’t you worried?”
“What am I worried about? It’s normal that you can’t adapt at the moment, because I can’t either. I haven’t even sorted out how he became my uncle. I think my mom might not know that we have such a relative.”
Tears welled up in Pei Ge’s beautiful eyes, though it was hard to tell if it was from excitement or regret.
“Let’s go upstairs and take a look at Mr. Qu. Hmm, we should be changing how we address him in the future.”
Ji Ziming spread his hands as his lips twitched helplessly.
“Yeah, okay. Let’s go.”
Pei Ge stood up with a smile in her eyes. This sudden news made her even happier.
When the two of them reached Qu Xiujie’s room, Ji Ziming’s phone rang. It was a private phone call from home. Hearing that it was appropriate for him to be anxious, he picked up the call.
“Hello, Ziming? Where are you and Pei Ge?”
It was Mother Ji who spoke with a hint of anxiety and joy.
“We’re outside. Mom, why are you back?”
Ji Ziming did not receive any news about the recent use of the private jet. In fact, he did not expect Mother Ji to return so soon.
“I, ah, came back first. I didn’t take the flight home. I bought a first-class ticket and flew back. The chauffeur went to the airport to pick me up. You and Pei Ge should come back earlier. I made a big table of food for you guys. It’s all your favorite food. Auntie Zhang and I made it together.”
Mother Ji reported the delicacies before her as though she was presenting a treasure. Ji Ziming and Pei Ge stood outside Qu Xiujie’s room for more than ten minutes.
“How is it? Can you smell my fragrance even through the phone?”
Mother Ji’s eyes curved into crescents as she smiled.
“Yes, Mom. Please wait a little longer. We’ll be back soon.”
Ji Ziming’s voice was clear. He thought that if he went back now, he might be able to reach home before Mother Ji’s soup was done cooking.
“Okay, then I’ll stay at home and wait for you guys to come back with the three children. You guys have to come back quickly. I feel that something is wrong with Ran Ran.”
Mother Ji was a little worried. From the moment she got off the plane to the Ji family’s villa, she noticed that Ran Ran’s face was slightly red even though her body did not feel warm. She did not know what the cause of her illness was, but Ran Ran seemed to be listless.
“Got it, Mom. We’re going back now.”
With that, Ji Ziming hung up and pulled Pei Ge down the stairs.
Pei Ge looked at him quizzically. “What’s wrong? What did you say over the phone? Why are you in such a hurry?”
She asked three questions in a row, but Ji Ziming only replied coldly.
“We are going home. Ran Ran seems to be sick.”
Ji Ziming was extremely anxious. Other than Pei Ge, he had never been so worried about anyone else.
“What’s wrong with Ran Ran?”
Pei Ge’s heart was in her throat as she looked at him nervously.

“Mom said that Ran Ran might have caught a cold, so don’t worry. I’ve already called the doctor at home, and he’ll reach home before me. We just have to go back now.”
Ji Ziming was also slightly worried. Compared to Qu Xiujie, he was more concerned about Pei Ge and his daughter.
“What about uncle?”
Pei Ge’s hand, which was being held by Ji Ziming, paused for a moment. She thought about how Qu Xiujie was still in the room waiting for them to go upstairs and explain everything to him. Yet, they were about to leave him behind and rush back home.
“How about this? Bring him along and let him stay over at home today.”
Ji Ziming pondered for a moment and decided to make a choice. Since he already knew about the relationship between Qu Xiujie and Pei Ge, he could not look at Qu Xiujie the same way again.
“Alright, I’ll go get him. You go and get the car. Also, tell Auntie Tian.”
After Pei Ge said that, she took her hand out of Ji Ziming’s hand and ran upstairs to Qu Xiujie’s room. Qu Xiujie was sitting leisurely on the bed as he took out a book that described Ji Ziming’s growth and aspirations and read it with relish.
“Uncle.”
She mustered her courage and did not say anything wrong.
“What is it? My good niece.”
Qu Xiujie raised his head and the wrinkles at the corner of his eyes reflected the sunlight outside the window.
“Come back with me now. My daughter is sick.”
Pei Ge said anxiously.
“What? Ran Ran is sick?”
The moment Qu Xiujie heard that, he quickly got off the bed and thought that if he followed Pei Ge back to the Ji family, he might be able to bring Ran Ran to the hospital.
“Then what are you waiting for? Hurry up and leave. Seriously.”
Qu Xiujie’s speed was so fast that he stuck his feet into his shoes immediately and walked out of the door in front of Pei Ge. Pei Ge, who was following Qu Xiujie, did not realize that Qu Xiujie could be so fast or nervous.
“Uncle, please slow down.”
Qu Xiujie’s speed was so fast that Pei Ge thought that he was going to fall. However, Qu Xiujie, who had a strong body, did not. Instead, he despised Pei Ge for being too slow.
Seeing the car parked at the entrance of the villa, Qu Xiujie quickly opened the door and called out to Pei Ge, “Come in quickly. Let’s hurry back.”
“Okay, okay, okay.”
Pei Ge nodded and entered the car through Qu Xiujie’s open door. Ji Ziming sat in the driver’s seat with a frosty expression. Looking at Qu Xiujie’s expression through the rearview mirror, his deep eyes narrowed. It seemed that Qu Xiujie was a pretty good uncle after all.
At least Qu Xiujie was more reliable than he thought.
When Ji Ziming drove Qu Xiujie and Pei Ge back to the Ji family mansion, the bodyguards behind them quickly drove back to the hillside mansion. Ji Ziming had instructed that regardless of whether Qu Xiujie was in the hillside mansion or not, those bodyguards had to be there.
“Aiya, why are you guys only back now? I’ve been waiting for so long.”
Mother Ji saw Ji Ziming’s car driving into the courtyard and hurriedly ran out. Seeing Qu Xiujie get down from the front passenger seat, she frowned slightly. “Why are you here?”
“Why can’t I come?”
Qu Xiujie puffed out his chest and raised his head. Although he was still a member of the Qu family, he was Pei Ge’s relative and uncle. When Qu Xiujie saw Mother Ji, his face was filled with confidence and pride as he waited for Ji Ziming to walk out from the driver’s seat to introduce him.
“Are you here to pick Jingwan up? She’s already gone back before I came back.”
