Amid the scorching environment of the desert where a storm of chaos was brewing, ceaseless droplets were pouring out of the sky, specifically from the unique cloud formations that had much to do with the current state of the desert. These particular raindrops weren’t like your usual raindrops. Sure they carried the same moistness, however, they also possessed particular qualities of dryness similarly to sand along with a variety of arcane minerals that kept them unified. Together these substances combined to form dense Desert Rain.
The entire creation process of these thick droplets was continually occurring within the Cloud Nebula above that encompassed the entire sky. Pure sunlight was hardly present within this world, it received its illumination mostly from the clouds and from the radiant qualities present within certain types of rain. In this case, the desert’s ambience was quite luminous due to the falling Desert Rain, but because of its never-ending showers coupled with its radiant essences, the Desert Rain could become very dangerous if contacted for a time with persons with weak immunity. In light of this, the people who resided in the desert had to keep themselves constantly protected underneath the safe borders of specially crafted Umbrellas. These Umbrellas were ubiquitously utilized by everyone residing in this world known as Rainstar.
The Desert Rain was only drizzling at this time, therefore, it wasn’t as deadly to traverse the desert. Except, there were unpredicted moments whereby special elements were occasionally released in the form of Curse Raindrops.
These Curse Raindrops contained certain mutating attributes that evolved into various types of entities when mixed with the ground element. Rainstar’s inhabitants called these entities, Body Elementals or Beezoids for short. The majority of which were monstrous and malignant but some could be beautiful and docile at times, others were even a necessary part of the environment.
Due to the auspicious season of calming rainfalls, the Body Elementals spread across the desert weren’t in large quantity. To some inhabitants of the desert, this was seen as a very good thing but to a specific 16-year-old girl who was currently roaming the desert all alone, this wasn’t a good thing.
“Darn it! There aren’t as many Beezoids today as I’d hope there would be.”
An objectively attractive young lady was carrying a displeased countenance as she continued to surf across the motile waves of the scorching desert on her versatile Hover Surfer. Her blue tresses were fluttering vigorously against the wind. A part of her hair was clamped underneath her facial goggles which she had positioned over her forehead without irritating her elf ears. This gave way for her radiant viridian eyes to experience the subatomic particles of the air.
Her mildly seductive figure was donned in adaptable desert garbs. Along with her pair of gauntlets, she wore a belt that was too mature to cling tightly to her developing waist. Because of its slackness, she had it connected to a leather strap around her shoulders. The posterior of the strap had 3 holders equipped with 2 long Umbrellas; a blue one with white petals and a black one with yellow patterns.
She was being followed by a sandy textured Umbrella above her head, more specifically it was being telepathically controlled by her. It was large enough to shelter her entire body from coming into direct contact with the falling Desert Rain and Curse Raindrop contagions. Additionally, several mechanical orbs were orbiting this specific Umbrella; 7 to be precise. Each of them had an intelligent interface that was continuously scanning the environment for certain objects.
The girl glanced up at the intelligent orbs and said, “Kelper, show me the scans that you’ve obtained so far.” One of the orbs lowered its altitude beside her head and displayed the information on a holographic window.
The girl perused its findings and thought, “I was hoping to collect more Rain Cores for dad’s ongoing project but I guess these will have to do for now.”
The young lady directed her Hover Surfer in a different direction from where she was heading earlier. Using the zoom functionality of her Kelper, she spotted a few Body Elementals close by on a shallow dune.
“There you are. I’m coming for you, bugger!” She increased the speed of her Hover Surfer by stepping onto a few panels which released certain mechanical components underneath. These nozzles array began exuding combustible fumes that sped the Hover Surfer forth.
“Yee-Haa!” She hollered like a cowboy from the Wild West as she kicked her hovering bronco in gear. It didn’t take her long to arrive at the area where the lone Body Elemental was lurking atop the dune.
As soon as she got within range, 2 drops of Curse Rain fell from the clouds and splashed into the desert. They gradually and expeditiously manifested into a monstrous duo comprised of mostly sand. One of them had the form of a spider with many legs; the other one was very skinny and tall like a skeleton; as for the one that was there upon her arrival, it had 4 muscular arms poking out of its swollen humanoid physique.
“Fhm.” Looking fearlessly at the newly arrived Body Elementals, the young lass spoke smugly, “So 2 Desert Lumpers has come down to play? 3 against 1, this is just how I like it! Show me what you’ve got, ugly Beezoids!”
About to engage 3 adversaries in combat, the young girl lowered her goggles safely over her eyes, moreover, equipped the sapphire Umbrella from her back. “I’ll be using you, Azure Sky.” The neat handle had many buttons attached, each with its specific functionality capable of modifying various properties of the Umbrella.
Pointing her extended Azure Sky at the Body Elementals before her, she asked, “Alright, who wants to dance first?”
‘Roar!’
In response to her taunting, the humanoid Body Elemental who was at the rear of the gang, gave a mighty shout as it ran ahead at her. It had command of the desert element, so conjuring 2 sand boulders above its arms to toss at her wasn’t an issue.
‘Whoosh! Whoosh!’
“Huh!” Taking notice of the incoming sand boulders that were tossed at her, she dodged one of them and then pressed a button on the handle of her sapphire Umbrella which opened the canopy at the right moment to capture the other sand boulder. She flowed with the momentum to flip a few times in the air with the captured sand boulder. This was done to build up enough spinning impetus to toss the sand boulder back at the offensive Body Elemental.
“Take it back!” The force she flung forth the boulder with caused the 4 handed Beezoid to explode after getting brutally smashed. She adroitly landed back on her Hover Surfer with a smug grin on her face. “That’s one down.”
“???” Witnessing the quick defeat of their elemental friend incited a rage within the remaining Beezoids. The spider type Beezoid began rushing towards its brash target while shooting out various intertwining webs.
“You’re too slow to capture me.” Saying this, the smug girl tossed her Azure Sky back into its sheath then extended both her arms asunder.
“Parabrellas release!” A pair of 3 holes opened on her gauntlets. After a burst of steam, 6 short Umbrellas connected to a tether shot out behind her. When they extended their colourful canopies, they generated enough updraft to carry the girl higher into the air. Because of her newly found altitude, she was able to skillfully dodge the sling of webs produced by the angry Beezoid.
“Woo-hoo! I bet you silly crawlers can’t catch me from up here!” She taunted the grounded Beezoids as the updraft took her higher. The brown Umbrella that was giving her shelter from the Desert Rain was still positioned above her with the orbiting intelligent cores.
“Kelper go deal with that spider Beezoid for me!” She sent one of the 7 orbs below. It detonated as soon as it came into contact with the Beezoid.
‘Boom!’
“Heck yeah! That’s what I like to see!” She celebrated upon witnessing the spider Beezoid falling onto its back. “That is just the right position for me to take care of you.”
‘Whoosh! Whoosh!’
The cheerful lass absorbed the 6 Parabrellas back into her versatile gauntlets, now she began losing altitude. She made sure to direct her descent over the spider Beezoid. While falling, she equipped the long black Umbrella from her posterior.
“Knight Blaster, you’re up!” She aimed the black Umbrella below and tinkered with a few buttons that transformed it into a semi-shotgun blaster. The mechanical rib assemblies folded forwards and came together with the canopy until they formed a gaping nozzle. The extended pole also gained a thickness to support the new modifications which included the fore-end, the ejection slot, the magazine loading port and the trigger.
“Get ready to rumble!” She loaded the magazine port of her Umbrella with 3 special rounds that she took from her belt holsters then roughly pulled back the fore-end and squeezed the trigger.
‘Bam!’
The first round she fired released a durable net that kept the spider Beezoid pinned down.
‘Bam! Bam!’
The second and third rounds she fired, blasted the spider Beezoid with a pair of molten sand orbs that burned right through its carcass.
“That Beezoid is down for the count! Now it is your turn, tall fella.” She landed onto her Hover Surfer and gave her attention to the skeleton Beezoid. With her outstretched hand confidently beckoning the malicious Body Elemental, she said mockingly, “Come get some, you sand bugger!”
‘Rumble!’
A dust storm began to brew around the skeleton Beezoid. Though it was arrogantly beckoned, it didn’t easily give in to provocation like its fallen comrades. It learnt from their failures and decided to take another approach. Instead of rushing the girl impetuously, it retreated a few paces and commanded the Desert Rain to concentrate its focus on the chirpy young lady.
Numerous aerial elements were combined. With the skeleton Beezoid added manipulation, the Desert Rain transformed into myriads of falling Sword Skeletons.
“Wow! I’ve never seen this formation of rain before.” Looking up at the army of Sword Skeletons madly soaring down at her, she aimed her Knight Blaster above and tried to shoot down as many as she could.
‘Bam! Bam! Bam!’
“I’m going to turn all of you into biscuit crumbs!” The girl kept on shooting at the falling army of Sword Skeletons until her ammo count reached 1. “Darn it! I’m out of bullets.”
Perceiving how close the Sword Skeletons had gotten, she sheathed her Knight Blaster and called her brown Umbrella into her grasp. “Come to me, Storm Shelter.” It closed, moreover, shrunk to a suitable size that neatly tucked itself into the holder on her back.
“I need some room to show this Beezoid that he’s not the only one with super-duper cool powers.” Still standing on her Hover Surfer, she got into a martial arts position and began executing a series of smooth body movements. At one point, she resembled a ritualistic dancer. As she delve further into her bizarre motions, the Desert Rain falling around her started to bend to her will.
“Desert Rain Art, Maximum Implosion!” As soon as she tossed her hands above at the descending army of Sword Skeletons, the Desert Rain began to curve upward. Thousands of droplets amalgamated into a single point of burst focus. When she released her destructive intent, countless droplets began to separate into swiftly penetrating bullets that began assaulting the army of Sword Skeletons. They were getting obliterated in droves. This brought an even bigger smile to the girl’s face.
“Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about! You weak Desert Lumpers are no match for me.” With her powerful control of the Desert Rain, she was able to drastically reduce the number of Sword Skeletons in the vicinity. When she saw that their numbers weren’t so great anymore, she quickly halted the execution of her technique before it took a toll on her body.
“This will do for now. I don’t want to over exhaust my Innocence Anim.”
Innocence Anim was a special organ situated behind the heart closer to the spine. It enabled some inhabitants of Rainstar to gain limited control of certain types of Rain Art pouring forth from Cloud Nebula. The spirited girl’s Innocence Anim wasn’t as mature, therefore, she couldn't maintain her connection to Cloud Nebula for long.
“Storm Shelter come forth!” After giving her tired organ a rest, she reactivated her sheltering Umbrella to protect her from the scorching particles. Setting her sight on the remaining Sword Skeleton who had landed, she equipped her sapphire Umbrella.
“Azure Sky let’s go!” She flipped forward a few times while extending the pole of her Umbrella. It broke into smaller portions separated by a series of thin tethers. She flung the tip of Azure Sky into the Sword Skeleton’s chest who was 10 metres away.
“Get over here!” She pulled the Sword Skeleton towards her by reconnecting the separated parts of her Umbrella. When her target entered her range, she adroitly flipped backwards and kicked its chin upwards. While it was in mid-air she bounced on her Hover Surfer to gain altitude on par with the Sword Skeleton. Next, she tinkered with a few buttons on her Azure Sky which caused the supporting bones along with the canopy to flip forwards and compressed into a sharp sword.
“Have a taste of my sharp, Brellasword!”
Pointing her Brellasword at the Sword Skeleton, she shouted, “I’m going to slice you up real good into sandy cracker crumbs!” She did exactly what she promised. She executed such swift adroit movements in mid-air and chopped the Sword Skeleton into tiny pieces that got carried off by the wind.
She landed back onto her Hover Surfer and boasted a smile of accomplishment. “Gosh, I’m so badass. Sometimes I think that I’m too cool for myself.”

‘Rumble!’
While the cheeky lady was distracted by her narcissistic attitude, she failed to recognize the skeleton Beezoid sneaking up on her from beneath the sand.
“Huh!” She reacted too late. Before she could evade to safety, the Beezoid burst upwards from underneath the sand and damaged her Hover Surfer beyond repair. She crashed-landed on her bottom.
“Ouch!” The burning sand properties caused her to flip to her feet apace. “It’s a good thing I followed Dante and wore these protective boots, otherwise, I wouldn’t have any feet left to stand on.”
‘Boom!’
The Beezoid dove back underneath the sand with a fierce attitude as if it was escaping something diabolical.
“I had no idea that one was a swimmer type. Now that I lost my Hover Surfer, I better tread carefully from here on out.” Just as she was about to retreat from that area, a sandy whirlpool began to manifest with a pulling intensity.
“What the heck is this?” She was shocked to observe the Desert Rain around her assisting with the twirling intensity of the whirlpool. In only a matter of seconds, it generated a huge gaping hole that was swallowing the girl.
“Oh, no! I can’t allow myself to be swallowed by that thing!” Looking down while madly trying to climb her way out, she identified a monstrous entity in the centre of the whirlpool with baleful teeth ready to chew on her bones.
“Oh, no you won’t! I’m not going to become your food today!” Saying this, she stopped trying to climb her way out with brute force. Instead, she removed her hand from the sand and allowed herself to freefall. When she was about to get swallowed by the malicious creature, she released the Parabrellas tucked into her gauntlets.
“Get me out of here!”
‘Whoosh!’
The sudden updraft carried her higher until she made it out of the captivating grasp of the whirlpool. At that height, she began deliberating whether or not she should flee empty-handed or pursue her given task.
“I can’t give up now. I still haven’t collected the Rain Cores from the other Beezoids that I’ve defeated. I promised dad that I will get him those cores and that is exactly what I’m going to do.” Strengthening her resolve, she decided to take the battle to the monstrous Beezoid below.
“Knight Blaster, I choose you!” While her arms were kept busy sustaining the 6 Parabrellas, she telepathically sheathed her blue Umbrella and equipped the black one.
“Storm Shelter go below!” She also directed her brown Umbrella beneath her and commanded the intelligent orbs to orbit her. “Kelper, you stay close by. I’m going to need a couple of your body parts to put an end to that cocky Beezoid.”
“Understood,” Kelper responded with a mechanical male voice.
“Alright, time to put a leash on that rowdy puppy!”
‘’Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!’
She injected her 6 Parabrellas back into her gauntlets so that she could descend faster into the deadly whirlpool.
“Storm Shelter activate, Desert Rain Field!” The tip of the many mechanical bones that kept the canopy spread apart, opened a variety of holes that started pouring out refined qualities of Desert Rain that were filtered and stored inside the central hub mechanism that resembled a canister.
The refined Desert Rain surrounded the girl in a protective field, just in time to prevent her from being chomped to bits. The malicious creature dwelling in the depths of the whirlpool swallowed her whole. She found herself falling deeper into the belly of the beast.
“Yuk, nasty.” The girl was repulsed at the thought of being eaten. The deeper she fell the darker it became, thus she told Kelper to turn on its luminous bodies. “That is much better. Now I can see where I’m going.”
After falling to 350 metres in depth, she finally spotted something that resembled the whirlpool Beezoid’s heart. “That must be what I need to destroy. Get me over there, Storm Shelter.”
“Huh, isn’t that…?” Getting closer to the area of interest, the girl discovered the skeleton Beezoid in the centre of the luminous heart mechanism strung up by various pulsating tubes. “What the heck is it doing? Kelper, do you know?”
Kelper took a quick scan of the surroundings before saying, “Based on my brief analysis, those pulsating tubes seem to be delivering unregistered information to the whirlpool that is keeping its rotation sustained.”
“So that means I need to destroy that Beezoid to get out of here?”
“That is the conclusion I’ve come to, based on my analysis.”
“Alright then, time to kick some monster’s ass!” She directed her Storm Shelter towards the heart where she created an entry point by blasting the outer membrane with her Knight Blaster. “That was my last explosive round. Kelper you will have to make a sacrifice for the team.”
“Your wish is my command.” Said Kelper compliantly.
She remained outside the membrane and sent Kelper inside. “Go and blast that Beezoid to smithereens!”
“Gladly!” Kelper went forth into the hollow heart with only 5 body parts; 1 was remaining by its user’s side. Kelper never stopped moving until it sunk itself into various parts of the lanky body of skeleton Beezoid. Shortly, it began to radiate an exploding resonance.
“Huh!” Knowing full well what was about to happen, the young lady retreated a little further but not too far because she needed to retrieve the Beezoid’s Rain Core before it was lost forever underground.
“Do it now, Kelper!”
“Gladly. Self-destruct activated.”
‘Boom!’
The generated explosion caused a huge rumble to occur underground, moreover, it destabilized the advancing whirlpool. Being so close to the explosion when it occurred, the young lady got to see where the Rain Core got blasted to. A glowing yellowish crystal in the form of a teardrop was hovering in the distance.
“Over there!” She quickly flung forth her Azure Sky to capture the luminous Rain Core before it got buried. “I’ve got it.” She called back her Umbrella, took the Rain Core from its mechanical arms and hugged it tightly to her chest.
“Wow, this is a big one.” She hadn’t enough time to admire the beauty of the Rain Core because she needed to escape the subterranean level of the desert before she got buried alive. “I better hurry out of here!”
“Storm Shelter retreat with full power!” Her sheltering Umbrella turned its direction upwards and started propelling out of the rumbling whirlpool. This process was becoming increasingly difficult due to the sheer force of the collapsing sand all around.
“You can do it, Storm Shelter. Don’t give up!” Using the telepathic link that her Umbrella had with her Innocence Anim, she gave all the remaining power to it.
“Go! Go! Go!” Storm Shelter gained a rocket-like speed. It burst through the sand like an uprising drill until the young lady found herself soaring high into the sky.
“We made it outside!” She was ecstatic to emerge triumphant from that whirlpool debacle. She aimed a middle finger downwards and said, “Take that you stinky Beezoid! I beat your ass silly! I hope you’ve learnt your lesson and do better next time.”
“Woo-hoo!” Screaming joyfully, she deactivated the Desert Rain Field and repositioned Storm Shelter above her for shelter then released her gauntlets’ Parabrellas for a safe landing.
‘Thud!’
As soon as her feet touched the ground, she stuffed the Rain Core into her belt pouch and started searching for the other 2 Rain Cores that the spider and 4 handed Beezoid had dropped. “The whirlpool must have shifted their locations elsewhere. I hope that they aren’t deeply buried. Kelper, help me out here.”
“Gladly.” Kelper began scouring the surroundings with its x-ray vision. It had a unique locator installed in its mainframe that could detect Rain Cores at close range. After some minutes passed, Kelper relayed its findings to its user via the holographic display. “I’ve found their location. Here are their coordinates.”
“Great! You’re a big help, Kelper. I’m so glad that I left a part of you behind to assist me. Gosh, I’m so smart.” With the aid of her Umbrellas, she dug through the sand until she retrieved the Rain Cores she was searching for.
“I’ve got them all!” She tucked them nicely into her belt pouch, afterwards, she climbed up at the peak of a dune and began staring afield at a faraway settlement that could barely be seen from where she was.
“With my Hover Surfer being trashed, it’s going to take me a long time to get back home. I hope dad doesn’t send out a search party to rescue me. He should know by now that I’m capable of handling myself.”
She slid down the dune part way then released her Parabrellas to gain some altitude. She landed a few seconds later and continued running in the direction of the faraway settlement while humming an invigorating tune.
This chirpy lass who was skipping across the rainy desert was given the moniker, Rhianna Blume; an aspiring Rainmancer who wanted nothing more than to prove to her father and friends that she could make it big time at The Lost Umbrella 9 System.
