“That’s the last of it.” Rhianna swallowed the last bite of food. She was under the strict observation of her father. He sat by her side making sure that she ate everything.
“Open your mouth and let me see.” Vazquez even inspected her mouth to see if she was hiding any excess food inside to spit out later. “Good, now you are free to go.”
“Finally!” Rhianna shot up from where she was sitting around a small table and began running up the stairs. Greenore was coming down while she was trying to go up. “Clear a path, Greenore! I need to use the bathroom!” She rushed to the lavatory apace to relieve her crying stomach. Her clothes were already on the floor before she got there.
Vazquez Blume’s cooking was really a stomach killer. Others who have tried his cooking said that his meals were natural laxatives.
While sitting on the toilet tending to the motions of her bowels, Rhianna seemed upset. “Curse him for poisoning my stomach.” She had a pin clasped around her nostrils to keep out the horrid scent.
A couple of minutes later after Rhianna finished refreshing herself, she was coming down the stairway while holding her stomach and saw her father inspecting her gadgets. “How can you be so cruel to your only daughter? All the food I ate has disappeared from my stomach now I’m feeling peckish again.”
Vazquez told her, “I have some more grub in the back if you want.”
“No!” Rhianna hurriedly refused her father’s offer. “Uncle Sage gave me some fruits. I rather eat those than stuffing my mouth with your dangerous food.” She dug through her bag and found that only one Pine Cream Mango was left. “Hey! What happened to all of my fruits?” She stared angrily at her dad.
“Don’t look at me. Try the person in the other room.”
“Dante!” Rhianna stormed into the other room where she discovered Dante hiding behind a curtain. “Get out of there!” She dragged the curtain to the side and showed her remaining Pine Cream Mango to the sneaky youth. “Did you eat all my fruits?”
Dante fessed up, “Not all of them. I left one for you, didn’t I?”
“Only one?” She gave him her angry eyes.
Dante felt intimidated. “Well, I watched you eat so much food I didn’t think that you would want the rest to eat so I ate them before they went spoiled.”
“They wouldn’t spoil so quickly, you big knucklehead! These fruits were produced today. Is this the best excuse you could come up with for being so damn greedy?”
“Hey, a man’s got to eat to keep on working.”
“Oh really? Then feast on this!” Rhianna began stuffing the last Pine Cream Mango into Dante’s mouth. The situation got so out of hand that Vazquez had to come along and pull them apart.
“Ok, you two, break it up. If you want to play go do that kiddie stuff outside. Don’t destroy my workshop.”
While being dragged away from Dante, Rhianna protested, “But dad he ate all my grub!”
“That’s enough out of you. I need my apprentice in good shape to assist me with my work. I can’t let you tear him to pieces.” Vazquez tossed Rhianna into the next room; she landed on Greenore’s hide.
“Ouch! You didn’t have to handle me so roughly.” Rhianna slid off Greenore’s back while groaning in pain. She dropped her bottom on a carpet and stared daggers at her father as well as Dante.
Seeing Rhianna’s intense glaring, Dante walked on over to the counter where her stuff was and said, “Don’t be so upset with me. I’ll make it up to you by repairing the damages to your Umbrellas.”
“You better.” Rhianna got up from the floor and joined Dante by the workbench.
While overviewing her equipment, Dante inquired, “I don’t see the Hover Surfer anywhere. What did you do with it?”
“Oh that, I trashed it in the desert.”
“You what?” Dante had a shocking expression on his face.
“Hey, don’t look at me like that. It wasn’t intentionally if that is what you are wondering. It was done by a sneaky Beezoid who almost got the drop on me.”
“But I worked so hard to craft you that Hover Surfer. How could you wreck it so quickly? It hasn’t even been a week yet.”
“I said I’m sorry ok. It’s not as if you can’t make me another one. Besides I brought back some good Rain Cores.” She picked up her belt pouch and unloaded 5 Rain Cores on a vacant counter. “These should be enough to cover the repairs. The rest are for dad’s new invention.”
Vazquez came over to inspect the Rain Cores. He was impressed by their quality but something was worrying him. It was quite apparent by his solemn countenance. “Young lady I’ve warned you countless times not to roam the desert by yourself. What if one of these days something bad happens to you out there.”
“Don’t worry about that dad. I wasn’t alone. Kelper was with me.”
“This little guy?” Dante had Kelper in his hand. “Where is the rest of it? There should be 6 more of these parts to make the hole. Don’t tell me you destroyed those as well.” Perceiving Rhianna’s mischievous grin, Dante figured that she did. “My gosh, what are you, a God of destruction or something? You’re adding too much to my workload.”
“Don’t worry about it kid. I’ll help you with the repairs.” Vazquez reassured Dante.
“Thanks, Dad, you are the best.” Rhianna gave her father a big hug.
Vazquez glanced down at his only child and said, “So now I’m the best whenever it is convenient to you, eh?”
“Come on, dad. You are always going to be the best in my book.”

Dante felt left out, thus he asked, “Hey, what about me?”
She looked at him and replied, “You are in third place, Dante.”
“If I’m third then who’s in second?”
“That would be, Granny Obachan. She means a lot to me.”
Hearing this name, a distant memory came back to the forefront of Vazquez’s mind. “Now that you mentioned your grandmother, she gave me a message for you.”
“A message, about what?” Rhianna was curious to know.
“She said to meet her at the cathedral, something about a ceremonial proceeding for your initiation.”
Listening to her father’s message, Rhianna understood perfectly what it meant and she was annoyed by it. “Not that ceremony again. Why is Granny Obachan so adamant about me becoming a Blessed Priest like her? I told her countless times that I want to be an elite Rainmancer not some worshipper of Cloud Nebula.”
“Hey don’t speak like that.” Vazquez scolded her and added, “Your grandmother’s profession is quite honourable and I think becoming a Blessed Priest would be beneficial for you; teach you how to behave properly and keep you out of trouble with those vicious Beezoids lurking about outside this colony.”
Rhianna protested, “But I’m a Rainmancer dad and a damn good one. You should see me in action, you would be amazed by how skilled I’ve gotten in these past weeks. Being a Blessed Priest just doesn’t cut it for me.”
Hearing what Rhianna and her dad were speaking about, Dante inputted a suggestion, “Why can’t you be both a Rainmancer and a Blessed Priest? I don’t see what’s stopping you.”
Vazquez commended Dante’s suggestion. “You hear that Rhianna, Dante gets it.”
“But dad, I don’t want to become both. I just want to do one thing.”
“That’s enough out of you, young lady. Now go and see the old woman before she croaks from impatience.” Vazquez began forcing his daughter out of his workshop but she wasn’t going freely.
“But what about that thing you were working on, don’t you need my help with it?”
“Dante is here to assist with that.”
“But wasn’t there something you promised to show me?”
“I’ll show it to you later. Now stop dallying and go!” Vazquez applied more strength to push her outside. “Tell the old lady that I will be stopping by later.”
“Tell her yourself, you big muscle head.” Rhianna started running away from the workshop. Looking back she saw Greenore chasing after her. “Hey, big fella where do you think you are going?”
Greenore caught up with her and rubbed its head playfully against her side. An idea came to her mind. “I can use you to get me there a lot quicker.” Rhianna hopped onto Greenore’s back and treated him like a tamed bronco.
“Yaw! Giddy up boy!” She rode Greenore to another location in the Desert Bog Colony. Her tamed Beezoid got her to where she needed to be pretty quick.
“Park here, boy.” Rhianna and Greenore arrived at the outer borders of the cathedral located in the heart of the colony. This place was classified as sacred ground to the desert’s inhabitants. Only a certain few could enter those holy grounds and not be severely reprimanded. Rhianna was one of these accepted individuals who were allowed entry, however, her pet Beezoid was not. It was denied entry by the guards securing that area.
“I’m sorry, Ms Blume, but your Beezoid will have to remain with us.”
“Ok.” Rhianna complied with the rules of the cathedral. She dismounted her pet and led it to a corner. “Stay here, Greenore. These nice guards will take care of you.” Greenore was reluctant to leave Rhianna’s side but he had to let her go.
“I won’t be long. I promise,” Rhianna said this with confidence because she planned to enter the cathedral, find her grandmother and blatantly denied her offer of becoming a Blessed Priest. “I don’t care how old Granny Obachan is, I’m going to tell her no once and for all.”
Rhianna entered the holy grounds. She was walking on a pavement which led to the main entrance of the cathedral. Along the way, she went by a few individuals dressed in blue robes with yellow stripes. The number of yellow stripes determined the adept rank of a Blessed Priest. Rhianna also owned a priestly robe but it had no stripes on it and she hardly wore it because she was ashamed of her cool peers seeing her dressed that way.
Rhianna greeted a few disciples in training on her way to the peak of the cathedral where her grandmother usually spent most of her time. Granny Obachan was a significant figure recognized throughout the entire Desert Bog Colony. Her many achievements accumulated over the years weren’t without regular homage.
Reaching the top of the cathedral, Rhianna entered a private chamber that only a handful of members were allowed entry to, but due to her family relations with the renowned Bless Priest, she got a free pass.
“Granny I got your message and came as soon as I could.” This was the first thing she said as soon as she pushed the doors open.
Inside was quite luxurious and decorative with a ritualistic appeal. Various lit umbrella-shaped candles were arranged neatly around the chamber. In the dead centre of the room was a plain carpet where an elderly woman was sitting in a meditative posture.
She was wearing a white priestly robe with numerous blue stripes across both sleeves enough to create a pattern. Judging by these stripes, everyone who knew of the power structure of Rainstar could tell that she was a powerful Blessed Priest one of a thousand ages.
