“You carry the child.”
Yan Yan received the child into her arms and watched as An Jiuyue swiftly removed the other child’s clothes and wrapped them in one of her cotton clothes. She poured away the water in the basin and placed the child back inside.
She took the first child from Yan Yan and repeated the same steps.
Her quick actions left everyone stunned.
“We’ll have to make do with these clothes first.”
She placed the child back into the water basin too and covered the basin with her straw raincoat.
“Miss, you… you’re amazing,” the other two people complimented An Jiuyue, giving her a thumbs up again.
The cotton clothes were still dry, so they thought that she was going to wear them. They did not expect her to put them on the children immediately.
An Jiuyue smiled at them and rubbed her hands together.
Everyone was wearing thick clothes and could withstand the wind. However, she was only wearing her innerwear.
I am so freaking cold!
However, it was more important to keep the two children warm.
“Do you not know how to row? Row faster,” she urged, raising her head to look at the man.
The man glanced at her briefly and quickened his movements.
Soon, they arrived at the place An Jiuyue specified and stopped the bamboo raft.
“Jiuyue, what happened to you?”
Two men greeted them at the foot of the mountain. They were shocked when they saw An Jiuyue wearing only her innerwear.
They wondered if she had accidentally fallen into the water.
An Jiuyue looked at them and asked, “Why are you here?”

“Oh, the Junior Officer came to look for the Chief just now. We know how to swim so he told us to come and replace you. You should go back first. We will monitor the area and rescue anyone we see,” one of them explained.
They were men—they should be the ones responsible for these things. It was embarrassing for a young woman like An Jiuyue to do it. Hence, they volunteered to come.
“Alright, I’ll go now. I’ll bring you lunch later,” An Jiuyue said.
“It’s okay. We’ve brought along two pancakes from Aunt Ju. It’s enough,” they said, patting their chests.
An Jiuyue nodded and did not say anything else. Carrying the large wooden basin, she led the five people up the mountain.
…
“Jiuyue, what happened to you?”
A group of people were standing under the tree, talking and laughing. Aunt Ju rushed over when she saw An Jiuyue return with a few people. She was in a sorry state.
“I’m fine. I jumped into the water and saved these two babies.” An Jiuyue glanced at the wooden basin in the man’s arms.
“Aunt Ju, is the plain porridge ready?”
“We’re still cooking. We haven’t added the wild vegetables yet,” Aunt Ju replied.
“Then…”
“I know, I know. We’ll scoop some porridge for the two babies before adding the wild vegetables,” Aunt Ju said, “You should hurry home and change your clothes. Don’t catch a cold.”
“Okay.” An Jiuyue nodded.
She turned around and looked at the people she brought along.
“The men can light a fire and dry your own clothes. The women can follow me up and change into my clothes. As for those who don’t like wearing other people’s clothes, I won’t force you.”
She glanced at Xue Ling meaningfully.
Xue Ling looked embarrassed and cursed An Jiuyue internally.
I will make her pay for embarrassing me in the future!
