Once he had sent Dr. Baker away, Julius then went back up to Eve’s room.
Seeing that she was already awake, he called her softly, “How are you feeling?”
Eve turned away, as tears continued to stream down her cheeks. “Dad, I’m so sorry… It’s all my fault… If I die, everything will be over…”
Julius sighed as he stood next to her bed, saying, “Is it worth it just for Clarence Oak? Is he worth your life?”
There were so many good men out there. Why must she marry into the Oak family?
Even bit her lips with a pale face and said, “Dad, I really like him. I sincerely love him. Clarence feels the same way as well. I can’t beg you to let us be together, you…”
Eve seemed to have given up what she wanted to say, and she looked completely helpless.
Perhaps he remembered how obedient and a good girl Eve was. When compared with Emmett, his useless son, Julius’s heart softened and he said, “Don’t do anything stupid anymore. I’ll consider the investment.”
Eve was stunned, and tears began to stream down again. “Dad!”
Julius waved his hand before turning and walked away.
Fifty million was not a small amount. If he lost the money, it was not something that he could write off.
However, when he compared the fifty million to his daughter’s life, naturally his daughter’s life was much more important.
The next morning, Luna walked down the stairs with dark rings.
“You didn’t sleep well?” Alexander put down the teacup in his hand.
Luna nodded weakly. She had been having nightmares the entire night. Even those terrible things that she had seen in her previous life appeared, and she was so terrified that she had cold sweat.
“Right, do you have Master Gideon’s contact number? Can you give it to me?” Luna pulled the chair and sat across Alexander. “I intend to visit him soon.”
Alexander was quite surprised. “Visit him? Why?”
He already felt that something was wrong with Luna yesterday at the tea shop. And now, she wanted Master Gideon’s contact. What was she up to?
Luna gave it a thought and then simply said, “Didn’t Master Gideon say that he had some nice tea? I’m quite interested in that!”
“You enjoy tea?” There’s a hint of ridicule in Alexander’s smile.
He wondered who that person was that drank high-quality green tea like water.
Luna’s expression didn’t change as she brazenly nodded. “I’m suddenly interested. What?”
“Sure!” Alexander searched for Master Gideon’s phone number and sent it to Luna. “Master Gideon doesn’t like anyone that speaks too much. If you anger him and cause me to lose the partnership, I’ll hold you responsible!”
“Don’t worry, we’re just going to have some tea. I won’t make him angry,” Luna said after giving it some thought, although it was obvious that even she wasn’t sure what would happen.
Alexander didn’t say much and left after having breakfast. He said, “I’m going to be quite busy, so I’ll only be back in the evening. If you want to eat anything, just let Mrs. Niles know.”
“Alright, sure!” Luna said and took a bite of bread. However, her eyes had been looking at her phone, and she didn’t even look at him.
Alexander stood at where he was standing and asked, “You’re not going to see me off?”
Only then did Luna raise her head with the bread still in her mouth. “Mm. See. You!”
Looking at how she was not herself, Alexander had no choice but to turn around and leave. “It’s fine, eat your breakfast!”
There has been something wrong with Luna since yesterday. What had happened in between?
Luna probably knew that she had made her fiancé very unhappy, so she quickly pulled her chair and chased after him. “You’re not coming back for lunch too?”
Alexander nodded, as he was too lazy to respond to her trying to find a topic when there was none.
Looking at him leaving the mansion and then getting into the car, Luna waved her hand and said, “Come home soon!”
Alexander was speechless. So what’s exactly happening with this fiancée of his?!
When Luna saw the car drive out of the gate, she returned to the dining room and continued her breakfast.
“Luna, did you hear? Chantelle Clark is coming back,” Melody suddenly sent her a text message
Luna began to search for this name from the original’s memory. Chantelle Clark seemed to have grown up together with Alexander.
She heard that she was the most beautiful woman in Auburn. She was almost omnipotent, and she had already appeared on tv a long time ago.
She was the dream woman of all men.
“No, why?”
Melody then responded, “It’s said that the reason that Alexander had never been in any relationship was because of her.”
Luna suddenly felt somewhat uncomfortable. “I see! Then why did she suddenly come back?”
“Not sure, it’s most likely because Alexander is getting married soon, so…….”
Luna looked at Melody’s extra-long ellipsis which carried some unspeakable meaning. She felt even more uncomfortable. She simply replied, “I’ll settle it when it comes. Since Alexander and I have never signed the papers anyway.”
If Chantelle really did come back for Alexander, or Alexander had feelings for Chantelle, then it was useless no matter what she did.
Although she wasn’t that experienced in the aspect of relationships, she knew nothing good would come out of being forced.
However, Melody telling her this was sort of a reminder. She had to make some preparations.
Her place to live and the card in her hand all belonged to Alexander.
If he took back all these things one day, she would have to live on the streets.
After giving it a thought, Luna believed that it was time… for her to buy a house!
She immediately started working on it and began to look at the apps related to selling houses, and began to browse houses.
She didn’t like to live in a place that’s too lively, but if she no longer had Alexander, she would need to find a job.
If that were the case, she couldn’t stay too far away from the city, but she didn’t want to live too close to the city as well.
In other words, then her choices were quite limited.
As she was browsing, she suddenly slapped her forehead. The card that Alexander gave her had access to ten million!
All she needed to do was buy two!
“Mrs. Niles, I’m going out for a walk. Be back by noon.”
After letting Mrs. Niles know where she was going, she then went up and packed up her household register and identity card before driving off.
She felt quite lucky that she had moved her household register out from her parents. That way, it would be easier to do some of these things.
In one morning, she had looked at about six houses. In the end, she bought a detached house with two floors and around 200 square meters wide.
It was located in a suburb that had just been built, and not many people had moved in yet. Also this building was somehow much cheaper.
Naturally, she had to buy it quickly.
After swiping the class and completing the procedure, Alexander’s phone then received a message, “Card number ending XX has been debited with 3 million…”
Three million? Alexander looked at his phone with a frown and then put it back down as he continued with the meeting. “The project that we’re working on with Master Gideon’s company will be online soon. We need…”
After one hour, Alexander called one of his assistants over after he left the meeting room, “Can you go check this card’s bank statement? Give it to me as soon as possible.”
The assistant said okay and then turned and left..
