Wang Xuewen was terrified and his legs trembled uncontrollably. “Haozi, Chongying, Chengfu, let’s hurry onto the drawbridge!”
Seeing that the monster had already caught up, Jian Chongying held back the others who wanted to run to the drawbridge and had them turn around and run to the right.
As soon as they ran, the sound of a blade cutting into wood rang out behind them. Wang Xuewen couldn’t help but take a curious glance behind him, and his heart almost jumped out of his chest in fright.
The ghost thing hacked at the vine ropes holding up the drawbridge with a hideous and gloating expression, grinning eerily as it did so.
“Chongying, Haozi, Chengfu, look!”
Chen Bing, who was already halfway across the drawbridge, saw that the ghost thing was going to cut the ropes. Where was her gloating and smug expression from earlier? She had seen more clearly than Wang Xuewen and the others how the shoe had melted into nothingness. The ropes were about to be cut and the drawbridge swayed. Utterly frightened, her beautiful face turned pale and terrified. She rushed anxiously toward Qi Hao and the others for help with an ugly expression. “Young Master Qi, Young Master Wang, save me… save me, Young Master Jian, Young Master Lu, save me! I don’t want to die! I don’t want to die!”
But Qi Hao and Jian Chongying had been tricked by this woman several times, so how could they want to save her?
Seeing that they were unmoved, Chen Bing’s face grew more and more desperate. Seeing that the vine ropes were getting thinner and thinner, and would snap at a light tug, Chen Bing was scared crazy. With a twisted and hideous face, she cried for her parents and hurled profanities nonstop at the four people.
With a final blood-curdling screech, splash! There was a loud splash, and everything instantly melted clean away in the water; even the bones couldn’t be found and the water was still crystal clear.
This was even more shocking than watching the shoe melt just now.
Even the calmest among them, Jian Chongying, was scared silly. Wang Xuewen, Qi Hao, and Lu Chengfu were terrified. They were very glad that they had listened to Jian Chongying. Otherwise, Chen Bing wouldn’t have been the only one to melt in the water.
They were still in a daze, when the ghost thing went after them after it cut the vine ropes. They weren’t sure if they were imagining it, but they felt that it was moving much faster and was full of energy. It was getting quicker.
Quivering, they panted as they ran and threw talismans. Jian Chongying threw two, while Qi Hao threw three. None of them were as powerful as the previous two times that Lu Chengfu had used the talisman.

The ghost thing would only stop for a moment, before it soon caught up with them again.
They were so scared that their faces turned green and they shivered in fear.
“What do we do? What do we do?” Seeing that the ghost thing had caught up with them again, Wang Xuewen cried and asked Jian Chongying the question.
Qi Hao also asked in despair, “Are we really going to die here?”
Lu Chengfu was about to say that he would give it another try, but before he could speak, he suddenly tripped and fell to the ground.
It was a terrible fall. Jian Chongying and Qi Hao wanted to pick Lu Chengfu up immediately, but that ghost thing was too fast. Before they could even touch the corner of Lu Chengfu’s clothes, that ghost thing, dragging that blade behind it, caught up with them.
Lu Chengfu was afraid that he would implicate them, so he yelled, “Run! You guys run! I’m gonna f*cking go all out!”
Lu Chengfu thought he was dead for sure. After all, he gave Wang Xuewen the talisman which Haozi had given to him earlier. The other talisman was already a bit burnt, so he wasn’t sure if it was still effective.
But before he died, he had to give his best friends some time, so when that ghost thing caught up, he immediately got up and pounced on it.
“Chengfu!” Jian Chongying roared, his eyes about to crack wide open!
When that ghost thing saw Lu Chengfu pounce on it, its body flashed as it nimbly avoided Lu Chengfu and bypassed him to continue chasing after Qi Hao, Jian Chongying and Wang Xuewen, dragging its blade behind it.
Lu Chengfu: …
Jian Chongying and Wang Xuewen: …
Qi Hao: What the hell kind of talisman did I give Lu Chengfu earlier?
