1510 Visiting Yang Lan
On the last day of the weekend, Chi Shuyan didn’t go anywhere. She just stayed in the villa and played with the two little guys. Chef Li couldn’t be absent from the restaurant. Not long after, he went out again, leaving Chi Shuyan and the two little guys to play at home.
Although she had refined the level 4 Advancement Pill, Chi Shuyan didn’t plan to give it to Fan Yin immediately. Since she had said that she would give it to him in three days, she would give it to him in three days.
On Monday, Chi Shuyan went to school as usual. After her morning classes, Chi Shuyan still wanted to visit Zhen Yu. It was mainly because Zhen Yu was introverted and didn’t have many good friends from school, so Chi Shuyan wanted to go and keep her company every now and then.
It was just that as soon as class ended and Chi Shuyan was about to leave, someone called out to her. It was her deskmate, Big Fatty, who said cautiously, “Don’t leave so soon. Someone has organized for some of us to go and see Yang Lan. Aren’t the two of you close? If you don’t go, someone in the class will definitely say something!”
Chi Shuyan had been busy with other things these past few days and had really forgotten Yang Lan and what happened to her. Although she didn’t like Yang Lan at all now after the other party screwed her over so much in the past, she couldn’t be bothered to gloat now that something had really happened to Yang Lan.
It was mainly because she didn’t think much of her at all. However, when she heard Big Fatty’s words, Chi Shuyan pondered for a moment before she nodded. She quite liked the atmosphere in the class now, and didn’t want the class to have a problem with her over a small matter. Besides, she was really a little curious about how Yang Lan was doing now. She could go take a look.
So, Chi Shuyan didn’t hurry to leave. When the representatives from class came looking for her, she followed them to the hospital to see Yang Lan.
Big Fatty was used to being ordered around, so he was also part of the group, mainly to carry things for their classmates. This classmate, Gong Xinli, followed obediently behind the female students and didn’t say anything. When the female students bought some fruits, he immediately took the initiative to carry the bags.
The class had pooled money together to buy these fruits; since they were going to visit Yang Lan, they had to bring something with them. Chi Shuyan saw that it wasn’t long before Classmate Gong Xinli’s hands were full with carrying all sorts of fruits. Because he was fat, it was a little difficult for him to walk, let alone carry so much. His fat hands were red and he was panting heavily. Not long after, his forehead was covered in sweat.
Although Chi Shuyan felt that it was right for boys to help female classmates carry things and do physical work, she saw that the female classmates in front of her were empty-handed and only cared about gossiping with each other. No one cared how tired Gong Xinli was, or even felt the slightest bit of gratitude. Chi Shuyan narrowed her eyes and suddenly said, “We bought too many fruits, and Big Fatty can’t carry them on his own. How about we help out by taking a bag each?”
As long as these female classmates didn’t go overboard, Chi Shuyan didn’t want to make a mountain out of a molehill and quarrel with them. When she suggested it, her tone was very calm, as if she was talking about the weather.
The female students in front of her stopped chatting and turned to look at Chi Shuyan in surprise and dissatisfaction. They were all pretty good-looking people. Except for a round-faced little girl who blushed at Chi Shuyan’s words and immediately helped to carry a bag, the others were very dissatisfied. “Since he didn’t say anything, why do we need to do anything? If we knew that he was so useless, we would have gotten the other boys to do it!”
Gong Xinli flushed red and felt embarrassed. He hurriedly waved his hand and said that he could carry the bags himself and didn’t need anyone’s help. He even refused the round-faced female classmate’s offer to help.
Afraid of blowing things up, Gong Xinli hurriedly whispered to Chi Shuyan, “Shuyan, I can carry them. I have the strength.”
Chi Shuyan still wanted to say more, but when she saw the worry and fear in Gong Xinli’s eyes, she sighed. It wasn’t good for her to stand up for him again, mainly because this deskmate was too timid and weak. It might not be a good thing if she made things tense with their classmates over him. Chi Shuyan didn’t say any more, but helped him carry a few bags.
Seeing this, the round-faced female student also helped carry two bags. As for the other female students, although they sounded dissatisfied, they were too embarrassed to refuse. One by one, they also helped carry one bag each, no matter how Gong Xinli refused.
With this, Gong Xinli’s ‘burden’ was greatly reduced. Although he was still a little terrified, he heaved a sigh of relief when he saw that his female classmates weren’t looking for trouble. He was very grateful to his deskmate. As he walked, Gong Xinli went closer to Chi Shuyan and took the initiative to thank her in a low voice. “Shuyan, thank you!”

Chi Shuyan glanced at his chubby hands, which were covered in red marks. It had to be said that this kid had a lot of flesh on his hands. He was fair and chubby, and from the looks of it, his family background was good. He probably hadn’t suffered much. However, she was really curious about what kind of parents had raised this weak-willed deskmate of hers.
Gong Xinli didn’t know what Chi Shuyan was thinking at that moment. He was now very sure that this cold-looking deskmate of his was very good, and was especially easy to get close to. Why did he think before that his deskmate was especially difficult to get along with? Thinking of how he now had a deskmate who was so easy to get along with and was willing to help him, Gong Xinli was fired up.
Not long after, they took a taxi to the hospital. When they entered, they asked for Yang Lan’s ward number, and took the elevator up.
The students, who had been quiet earlier, also gradually started gossiping again. The subject of their gossip was naturally Yang Lan, mainly because they were curious about how serious her injuries were. Also, why was she so unlucky to have been splashed with sulfuric acid?
The round-faced girl suddenly said softly, “I heard that something happened to Yang Lan because a love rival splashed acid on her; she said that Yang Lan snatched her man!”
As soon as the round-faced girl said that, the other girls immediately started gossiping like buzzing bees. The more they talked, the wilder the story became.
Chi Shuyan and Gong Xinli were silent. Chi Shuyan had long known about Yang Lan and knew how she had been splashed with sulfuric acid. Thinking of what Yang Lan had done, she didn’t feel much, let alone sympathize with her. As for Gong Xinli, he felt that it wasn’t good to talk about others behind their backs. Besides, Yang Lan was probably in quite a miserable state now. He was embarrassed and didn’t want to say anything.
A girl still wanted to ask Chi Shuyan about Yang Lan being splashed with sulfuric acid, mainly because they used to get along well. They often saw Yang Lan take the initiative to talk to Chi Shuyan. The two of them had a good relationship, so she might know more.
At that moment, the elevator doors opened with a ding, and Chi Shuyan said, “We’re already on the floor and will be at the ward soon. Are you sure you want to talk about the sulfuric acid now?”
Sure enough!
As soon as Chi Shuyan said that, the gossipy girls immediately shut up and followed Chi Shuyan to Yang Lan’s ward. Just as they were about to knock on the door, they heard a hoarse and heart-wrenching scream in a familiar voice. The door was closed, but the soundproofing in the hospital ward wasn’t good. Standing outside the ward, they could still hear the woman’s deranged cursing and crying, and the sound of things being smashed.
The girls and Gong Xinli were so scared by the sound of things being smashed and the woman’s crazy screams that their faces turned pale.
“What should we do? Should we go in or not? Are we at the wrong ward?” a timid female classmate asked.
“We didn’t go to the wrong ward. This is it. By the way, why does the woman inside sound like Yang Lan?” A female classmate who usually had a good relationship with Yang Lan recognized the voice.
Chi Shuyan didn’t move. She stood at the door of the ward. Through the window, she saw a woman with a bandaged face half-lying on the hospital bed. She kept throwing things at the doctors and nurses, who were at a loss.
The taller student, Gong Xinli, also saw the scene inside through the window. He was timid to begin with, and was shocked when he saw the scene inside.
“Are we going in or not?” an impatient female student couldn’t help but ask. Her eyes were filled with curiosity, probably about Yang Lan being splashed with sulfuric acid.
Not long after, the door suddenly opened and a few doctors came out. They saw many people standing at the door with fruits in their hands. They were probably here to see the patient.
The main attending doctor thought of the patient’s condition and frowned. He suddenly said, “The patient isn’t in stable condition right now and isn’t mentally fit. It’s best if you come back to see her at a later time!”
