1573 No More Suspense?

Chi Shuyan didn’t pay attention in class the entire day. She kept thinking about the man’s last question about whether or not she had a boyfriend before she left the hospital.

It wasn’t until after school in the afternoon that Chi Shuyan found time to call Brother Feng. Brother Feng picked up very quickly and sounded a little relaxed, as if he wasn’t busy. “Shuyan, what’s the matter?”

Chi Shuyan first exchanged pleasantries with Brother Feng, and mainly asked about the case of the young lady. She learned from Brother Feng that there had been no progress. The people related to the young lady weren’t very cooperative and refused to reveal anything. Instead, they trusted ‘Sister Yuan’ very much.

As for the young man who had wanted to jump off the building, he had been detained for a day or two, and they were about to let him go; his mental state had been pretty alright while he was in the holding cell. As for Sister Yuan, she was very arrogant and didn’t want to bother with them.

Feng Yuanlin sighed. “Shuyan, both of you are experts, but why is the difference so big?”

Someone as capable as Shuyan had never put on airs, but this ‘Sister Yuan’ was a real character. Feng Yuanlin didn’t know how capable she was, but she put on airs and dismissed public servants like them. She even instigated the others to refuse to cooperate with them. Feng Yuanlin had been feeling quite disgusted for the past day or two.

Chi Shuyan naturally wasn’t calling this time to ask about work. Although she was quite curious about this case and what that group of people had revealed about ‘Death’ being here or whatever, they hadn’t looked for her, so she couldn’t forcefully intervene.

Besides, what she was most curious about now was what Brother Feng had written in his Moments to cause Qi Zhenbai to misunderstand so deeply. So, after exchanging pleasantries, she immediately got straight to the point and asked, “Brother Feng, by the way, why do I feel that you’ve blocked me from your Moments? I want to take a look as soon as possible!”

This question rendered Feng Yuanlin speechless and he felt guilty, especially when he called Zhenbai several times last night, but none of his calls went through. All night long, he felt guilty and couldn’t eat or sleep well, afraid that he had added fuel to the fire.

When Shuyan suddenly asked this question, Feng Yuanlin felt guilty again. He chuckled in a clearly diffident manner. “Really? Hehe, really?” Without waiting for Shuyan to reply, Feng Yuanlin immediately lectured her earnestly like an elder. “Shuyan, you’re still a student. Just study hard. Why scroll through my Moments? If your grades aren’t good, don’t blame me for complaining to your counselor.”

Chi Shuyan wasn’t afraid of Brother Feng’s fake tough act at all. He could bluff any other junior except her. Instead, why was it that the more she listened to his earnest advice, the more guilty he sounded?

“Brother Feng, I ran into my ex-boyfriend again this morning!” Chi Shuyan suddenly said as she feigned nonchalance.

Feng Yuanlin didn’t realize who Shuyan was referring to at first. Not long after, he realized that the ex-boyfriend Shuyan was referring to was Zhenbai. Feng Yuanlin’s mind exploded at this news, and his face stiffened and he felt guilty. He had a thought, and hurriedly asked, “Shuyan, wait, you didn’t quarrel with Zhenbai, did you?”

“Mm, I did!” Chi Shuyan’s tone was still light.

Feng Yuanlin was so scared by Shuyan’s words that his head felt like it was about to explode. If it were any other time, he would naturally be able to tell that Shuyan was deliberately messing with him. However, he was feeling guilty and was afraid that his good intentions had ruined things. He was also afraid that because of his meddling, the two of them would become even more distant and fall apart.

So, Feng Yuanlin was indeed scared out of his wits by Shuyan’s words at that moment. He really thought that the two of them had broken things off, and he didn’t dare hide the matter anymore. He immediately obediently told her everything. “Cough, cough… Shuyan, I… I just posted some things on Moments about you having a new boyfriend. Cough, cough… that’s okay, right?” He paused, and when Shuyan didn’t reply, he felt uneasy and hurriedly asked, “Shuyan, you… you and Zhenbai didn’t quarrel… right? If Zhenbai lost his temper at you again, don’t blame him. It’s all my fault. I did a bad thing out of good intentions! Don’t misunderstand!”

Although Chi Shuyan wanted to mess with Brother Feng, she didn’t want him to not be able to eat or sleep. Besides, she and Qi Zhenbai hadn’t really quarreled in the morning. Even if they had, the two of them would be the ones to blame. It had nothing to do with Brother Feng. Seeing that Brother Feng had confessed everything, she didn’t say much and let Brother Feng’s imagination run wild.

Before she hung up, she just told Brother Feng to immediately unblock her from his posts and to not delete them from his Moments for now. She wanted to see what he had posted.

Feng Yuanlin felt guilty and his back inexplicably turned cold. He was especially diffident and could only stammer in agreement.

Before hanging up, Feng Yuanlin was still very worried that the two of them had some misunderstanding. He asked anxiously, “Shuyan, tell me, what on earth did you argue about this morning? It didn’t blow up too much, did it? Did Zhenbai lose his temper at you? Did he ask anything?”

Chi Shuyan was speechless when she heard Brother Feng’s anxious yet gossipy tone. In the end, she couldn’t let his imagination run wild. She thought about it. Since Brother Feng had agreed to unblock her, she might as well tell him the truth. “We didn’t quarrel; we just exchanged a few words!”

“What?”

Chi Shuyan took a few deep breaths and finally decided to satisfy Brother Feng’s curiosity. She said, “He just asked me if I had a boyfriend.”

When Feng Yuanlin heard this, he almost couldn’t help but slap his leg and laugh out loud. “Wait, Shuyan, did you deliberately mess with me?”

Without waiting for Chi Shuyan to answer, Feng Yuanlin immediately stifled his laughter and asked, “Shuyan, that… was it really Zhenbai who asked? Why doesn’t it sound like his style at all? Is this kid finally worried? Hehe, my goading was still useful. By the way, Shuyan, how did you reply?”

Seeing that Shuyan didn’t reply for a long time, Feng Yuanlin hurriedly put in more effort and said, “Shuyan, stop messing around. What’s the point of messing around? As a bystander, I can’t stand it anymore. You know now that Zhenbai really can’t bear to be apart from you. The two of you should hurry up and make up. When the time comes, don’t forget to toast me.”

“Mm, I won’t keep you in suspense!”

Feng Yuanlin originally wanted to nag further, but when he heard Shuyan’s words, he was delighted. He was very curious about how Shuyan had replied to Zhenbai when the latter asked if she had a boyfriend. Did she provoke him, or did she specially explain it to Zhenbai, and the two of them made up?

Feng Yuanlin was too nosy and couldn’t help but ask again, “Shuyan, how on earth did you reply to Zhenbai?”

“Guess?”
