[WARNING: Explicit depiction of Suicide]
There are a hundred ways for humanity to end.
A virus ravaging the Earth. Millions of people drop dead, and their bodies spread the disease quickly, at first through their families, then through their workplaces, and finally through their neighborhoods. There is no hope of recovery or immunity. It is impossible to tell who was infected from those that were not. The minds of the infected with one sole instinct, to spread the virus. Months or years later, the infected begin to become symptomatic. Their bodies slowly rot away. Organs fail one by one. Muscles, skin, and other human tissues start to slowly die. The stench of decay attacked the nostrils of the living. Its victims weep and scream as their bodies are eaten away. They cry for help, despite knowing they are already beyond help.
A massive meteorite striking the Earth. A space rock hurtling toward the planet – invisible weeks before it hits. An immense amount of energy releases upon impact. Debris rains down in every direction. Cities burn out instantly. Millions perish within seconds. Those unlucky enough to survive will lose hope. Most of the Earth's surface has been burned by the meteor. The Earth's fragments that have been blown off the planet and made a re-entry to Earth burn countries far from the crash site of the meteor, causing global devastation. With the surface of the cities and forests burned, scavenging canned food, masks, clothes, water, and other essential items became significantly more challenging. The decrease in sunlight and overall temperature will destroy plant and animal life, making hunting and farming remarkably difficult, if not outright impossible. The unknown materials in the wind will cripple the survivors without a way to purify them. In an attempt to keep themselves alive many turn to cannibalism. As the months go on, there becomes less and less reason to live.
The moon falling to Earth. An impossible situation. That is, until the moon starts getting brighter. No one knows they only have several weeks to live. Slowly and steadily, the moon grows more brilliant and gigantic in the sky. The tide rises higher than ever seen before. The oceans swallow whole islands and coastal towns, leaving only death behind. Weeks later, the waves rise so high they flood over entire continents. All forms of transportation, communication, and other forms of technology cease working. Many find shelter in high-rise buildings, but millions do not. Most drown, trying to escape the rising waters, while others starve because of a lack of access to food stores. Only the lucky ones manage to reach safety after days of struggling against overwhelming odds. Soon enough, the moon breaks down from the pressure of Earth's gravity. It leaves a large amount of dust, rock, and other kinds of debris that will orbit Earth like Saturn's rings. The disaster is over, but can they adapt to the new Earth, where temperatures go down to cities beneath the ring of debris? Can they recover the technology taken by the oceans?
The third world war, triggered by a fight between two nations, slowly started to involve nearby countries until most countries on Earth eventually became involved. The smell of burning flesh, smoke, and gunpowder fills the air. The ground shakes as fumes and smoke rise into the sky. Planes whirr in the sky as the sounds of explosions followed. Every time a massive mushroom cloud rises on the horizon, cities disappear from the face of the Earth. Man-made earthquakes and harbor waves assault the survivors near the impact site. If you survived this long, how much longer could you last when everything around you has been destroyed?
Earthquake in Yellowstone National Park. For decades scientists had warned about the possibility of a volcanic eruption at some point. After all, geologists believe that the volcano sits atop the largest supervolcano known today. But even though everyone knew what might happen should something set off the magma below the mountain, none expected such an event would be so sudden. Within hours, the entire park erupts. Volcanic ash fills the skies above the area, blocking out the sun. Hot gas and lava rain down on the region, destroying everything in its path. Hundreds of thousands of animals, birds, insects, fish, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, plants, bacteria, fungi, algae, lichens, mosses, trees, and shrubs die. And yet more species continue perishing, unable to cope with the change in weather patterns. Thousands of square miles of land are covered with ash and mud, killing any form of vegetation. Massive floods wash across the continent. Fissures open up under the ocean floor and release poisonous gasses into the atmosphere.
Stellar explosions, Reversal or Disappearance of Earth's magnetic field, Hyperintelligent AIs, Alien Invasions, and more.
But would you believe it if I told you... that the world would end in the hands of a lone woman?
It was February 2112, and humanity's population had dropped to two.
A girl stood on top of a pile of concrete and other debris. She stood atop the pile of what used to be the One World Trade Center located in Manhattan, New York City. Her hair fluttered in the breeze, her pupils glowed in a blood-red light, and she wore a black trench coat over a white dress shirt, a pair of jeans, and leather boots. Her elbows stood atop her knees, her hand underneath her chin as she looked down at the man below.
Beneath the pile was a middle-aged man. The last man, Arthur Mercer.
"You destroyed a billion lives, leveled numerous cities, eradicated humanity's greatest achievements, killed my family, friends, daughter... Tell me... why...? Why?!" Arthur said with his eyes full of tears as he looked at her. "Why did you do this?"
"Why indeed..." Her face showed nothing but coldness. Her voice sounded calm and emotionless when speaking.
Ayame Yuuna took off her black trench coat revealing her white dress uniform.
It was her old senior high school uniform. She had been wearing the same dress for several decades.
"Let's get on with it," Ayame said from above the pile of debris. "I'm sure you didn't sacrifice your friends just to talk me to death, right?"
"Gungnir." A blood-red spear appeared in front of Ayame. She grabbed the weapon, then threw it toward Arthur.
Ayame threw the spear toward Arthur, piercing his abdomen. His body began to shake violently as blood poured down onto him. He screamed in agony and fell back into rubble. But he still wasn't dead yet. With great effort, he got up again, coughing up blood before looking at Ayame.
"You're already dead... The twelve antimatter bombs... that my comrades created are planted on the sewers... It will explode in 30 seconds... If I'm going to hell... I'm taking you... with me..." Arthur spat back defiantly as he coughed blood. He knew he couldn't beat her alone. His only chance was if they both died together or, by some miracle, someone else could stop her. But still, he wanted revenge against her for everything she'd done. He was already too late to save his daughter, wife, co-workers, and everyone else.
He smiled slightly, saying: "It's a shame... I'll never see the look... on your face... as you die..."
His words turned to coughs that left bloody froth on his lips. Then, finally... silence filled the air once more.
Arthur died without uttering another word.
A massive explosion rocked through the East Coast. A blinding light devoured the country. Every wrecked building and ruined city in the United States disappeared in less than a second. Nothing was left. The blast had not only destroyed the East Coast but the entirety of the United States except Alaska. Half of Canada was obliterated, while 3/4 of the North Atlantic Ocean was disintegrated.

The explosion obliterated the ground to the point that it created a massive hole from the Earth's crust all the way to the Earth's mantle. It was so large that even the biggest bomb detonated during the cold war, Tsar Bomba, was like an ant in front of a mountain.
The non-human survivors of the great war and Ayame's acts of terrorism within millions of kilometers² around were vaporized instantly; no one survived.
Even with all that destruction, Ayame survived without any damage. The cold wind made her hair flutter as she stared out at the new wasteland.
She sat on her floating spear before flying back to the small island that used to be Japan.
She landed on a collapsing concrete structure that used to be the entrance of her home.
There were no people around, as the island had been devoid of life since the war ended. She walked inside and took off her trench coat, revealing her white dress uniform.
After a moment of hesitation, Ayame grabbed something lying on the floor.
It was an old photo.
In the picture, a young girl was wearing a dress uniform, smiling happily with a young man. Ayame remembered seeing that photo many times before. That memory brought pain to Ayame's heart but also joy. The young man beside her was her childhood friend, who she had met in elementary school.
She lay down on her bed and wondered what went wrong with her life...
She had a normal childhood. She was never bullied, her parents were not abusive, her family was wealthy, and she was popular throughout her junior and senior high school. There were no signs that she would be this way until that incident happened.
In just one incident, her life changed for the worst.
That night, visiting that bar with her friends ended up in a disaster that would halt and turn her life into a 180. And that was how a single girl's disaster eventually led to the disaster that would lead to mankind's extinction.
She stood up and called out her spear. "Come forth! Gungnir!!"
A blood-red spear appeared in front of Ayame.
"I suppose this is goodbye," Ayame said as she looked back at the photo.
She stabbed her spear into her chest and felt a sharp pain. Blood gushed from the wound, soaking through her clothes.
But Ayame did not let go of the weapon. Instead, she continued stabbing herself over and over. Each thrust seemed to hurt worse than the last, leaving her gasping for breath each time. But still, she continued stabbing herself until she had nothing left but blood... and then... finally... silence filled the air once more...
Ayame's heart stopped beating, and her breathing ceased. The entire floor was covered by the blood.
Ayame's consciousness faded, then disappeared altogether.

That was how the world ended.
