Letting Ding Jiayi make use of Qiao Nan’s resources to take care of Qiao Zijin so that she could express her maternal love? How could that be allowed?
And she even wanted a chauffeur? Dream on!
After hanging up the call, Miao Jing poured a glass of sweetened drink for herself. Only after calming herself down did she visit her three precious grandchildren to comfort herself. Otherwise, Miao Jing felt as though she would be driven to her grave!
Because Miao Jing had hung up on her, Ding Jiayi was dumbfounded. She hadn’t even gotten angry at Miao Jing. All she had done was express her dissatisfaction with Qiao Nan. Relationships between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law had always been tense since ancient times. Shouldn’t Miao Jing have been happy when she scolded Qiao Nan? Now that she was here, she could stand on Miao Jing’s side and subdue Qiao Nan within the Zhai family so that Qiao Nan wouldn’t dare to do anything in the Zhai family.
But before she could even badmouth Qiao Nan, Miao Jing had ended the call in a rage. If not for the fact that Ding Jiayi remembered how she had indeed given birth to Qiao Nan, she would have misunderstood that Qiao Nan was Miao Jing’s daughter instead because of how anxious Miao Jing had been.
Up until now, Ding Jiayi had only the Zhai family’s landline, and not Qiao Nan’s phone number. Because she had been cut off, Ding Jiayi had no idea what to do. She wanted to get in touch with Qiao Nan but had no way of doing so.
Left with no choice, Ding Jiayi could only call Qiao Nan for help. She had already been bullied by Qiao Nan’s mother-in-law, who had purposely ended the call and refused to let Qiao Nan talk to her. But she would only be able to contact Qiao Nan if Qiao Dongliang agreed to give her Qiao Nan’s phone number.
Then, Qiao Nan would be able to take care of her behind Miao Jing’s back and send her to Qiao Zijin.
But Ding Jiayi had not been able to get through to Qiao Dongliang either. All she heard on the other end of the call were those rapid and short beeps. Even after trying several times, Ding Jiayi could not get through and the phone had even been switched off! Ding Jiayi was stunned.
Old Qiao had not forgotten to pay for his phone bills, and he had even charged his phone last night. There was no way he would have switched off his phone due to a lack of battery. She was done for. If she couldn’t get in touch with Old Qiao, she wouldn’t get Qiao Nan’s phone number either. Without Qiao Nan’s help, how was she supposed to find Qiao Zijin?
With no other choice, Ding Jiayi dialed back the number from which she had received a call earlier. What made Ding Jiayi panic was that ever since that call that noon, Qiao Zijin’s phone had been switched off. Ding Jiayi was worried that Qiao Zijin had been so ill that she hadn’t even remembered to charge her phone.
Without a phone, how was Qiao Zijin supposed to call an ambulance for herself?
After giving it some thought, Ding Jiayi could only crouch down and sob now that she was stuck in the airport without Qiao Nan’s help.

At this moment, a man patted Ding Jiayi on her shoulder. “Are you Madam Ding from Ping Cheng?”
Ding Jiayi sniffled and wiped away her tears. “Yes, I am. Who are you?” How could she possibly know anyone in the capital? Besides, she was sure that she had never met this man in her life.
“That’s good.” The man didn’t introduce himself, much less let Ding Jiayi know that he had been supposed to drive Ding Jiayi to Qiao Zijin. “This is your daughter’s address. You can find her there. Goodbye.” Following Miao Jing’s instructions, the man turned to take his leave after handing Ding Jiayi Qiao Zijin’s address. Ding Jiayi didn’t even have the chance to hold him back.
It took Ding Jiayi a while to realize that this was perhaps the person that Qiao Nan had gotten to lead her to Qiao Zijin. As such, she picked up her luggage and ran behind that man. “Hey! Slow down! Did that wretched girl get you to take me to Zijin? Why are you leaving me with only an address? What did that wretched girl tell you? Don’t leave!”
Of course, Ding Jiayi was no match for that man’s speed. Besides, the airport was crowded and the man skillfully dodged everyone, whereas Ding Jiayi fumbled around, even knocking into others from time to time.
Within moments, Ding Jiayi had lost sight of the man. However, she had also successfully gotten out of the airport. Ding Jiayi sighed. “That young man ran so quickly! Why did that wretched girl find someone so unreliable? I’m sure he’s well-paid but he didn’t even do his job well. That won’t do. I’ll have to tell that wretched girl off later and get that man to return the money. How could he expect to be paid after doing such a shoddy job?”
Fortunately for her, she had found her way out of the airport. Otherwise, she might have gotten lost in there.
Ding Jiayi might have chased after that man frantically, but she had never once let go of the slip of paper with Qiao Zijin’s address. With much difficulty, she got in the queue for a taxi. After boarding the cab, Ding Jiayi handed the address over. “Sir, I want to go to this place. My daughter’s sick and needs someone to take care of her. Could you please drive faster?”
Ding Jiayi thought that the driver wouldn’t dare to take a longer route if she were to say that. That way, she would even be able to save herself some money.
Unfortunately, the driver hardly believed Ding Jiayi. If her family member was seriously ill, the address would have been of a hospital, not a rented apartment. If that person could wait for someone to take a plane over, he or she must not have been very ill, after all.
After memorizing the address, the driver agreed. “Alright, but auntie, I’ll have to let you know in advance that land is expensive in the capital, so the airport is quite a distance away from the city center. No matter how many shortcuts I take, I won’t be able to shorten the distance by much. The fare will be quite expensive. Is that alright with you?”
“Yes, yes. Of course!” It didn’t matter if it was expensive. She would get back as much as she had spent from that wretched girl. What she was spending was Qiao Nan’s money anyway. It wasn’t hers.
“Deal!” The driver was elated and stepped on the accelerator as soon as he accepted Ding Jiayi’s offer.
It cost two hundred yuan to get to her destination. Ding Jiayi had no choice but to hand over two hundred yuan albeit feeling the pinch.
