"Well, they just let anyone in this city now don't they!" The bearded stranger said, almost looking down on Jin and Mary.
Oh man, here we go. Is a typical noble stereotype incoming? But, I'm a toddler, so time to abuse it!
Hello, Mister! Who are you?" I say, looking up at the now towering figure.
"Raise your heads, and tell me," He said as he began to crouch down to look me in the eye "Who's this little one? I can see he's your son by the hair, but why is he here?" The tall bearded figure said standing back up.
Oh, yeah! Jin has mostly full black hair, with the tips of it being blue, constantly spiked upwards. My mother, as mentioned before, has long flowing hair with hues of red and orange, making it look like a pattern of fire. I have a mix of the two, with my hair being naturally spikey like my father's, with blue tips and purple streaks within it.
I finally saw myself for the first time we walked into the temple since there weren't any mirrors in my house.
Let me say, mmhmm! I look good!
"Could it be..." He said, a grin slowly creeping over his well-aged face. Here it comes.
"My precious nephew I've heard so little about!" The bearded man said, snatching me into a bear hug.
"Uhh, High Sage-" Jin began to say.
"Please, Jin, you have no reason to be so formal. We may be in public, but you're no longer a temple member nor student." The bearded man said as he brought Jin into the hug. "Just call me Uncle Vinny and introduce me to my nephew already!"
Wait, so this big wig is my Uncle?
That's so neat! I don't know what his rank means, but it is cool at least! However, noticeably, with those words, my father and mother relaxed and embraced Uncle Vinny.
"Well, to reintroduce you," My father said, ending the embrace and putting me on his shoulders. "This is my little Aero, my pride and joy as the heir in our bloodline, and a certified Barrier Affinity holder." My dad exclaimed proudly, now returning to his usual manner of speaking and a relaxed broad smile.
"Wait what? Are you absolutely sure?" Uncle Vinny said as his eyes widened, darting between me and my father. "How can you be so sure? He's untested, and also you're dogsh-wash at barriers!"
Proudly, my father said with a grin "He's already casting! He's a true genius! Remember how I couldn't even cast till I was one and a half? How it took you all the way till one? I was able to teach this little guy in six months! Haha! To think you were worried about our family after my father." He continued, proudly laughing as Uncle Vinny's jaw nearly dislocated.
"Sixth months? You're either insane, lying, or truly have given birth to and nurtured a genius!" Uncle Vinny said, somewhat accusatory, but mostly shocked.
Watch that tone aunt-fucker. The person that escorted us here is long gone, I'm a kid, and no one is around to see anything right now, so time to show off!
Throwing my hand upwards, I created a dome barrier surrounding the four of us, much to the shock of Uncle Vinny.
Not wanting to look too good, since my doubled mana pool makes this take up way less than it should, I then dissipated the barrier and pretended to have lost concentration on it.
"Look at that uncle Vinny! I did it!" I exclaimed childishly, as I could almost hear the final string of doubt snap within his thick skull.
"That's it. Fuck the process, fuck the briefing you've already done it, and fuck the line. He's getting evaluated right now." Uncle Vinny said in a semi-serious tone.

"What? How? What about the briefing? The order of events? The other people ahead of us to be evaluated?" Jin and Mary asked in unison.
"I am a High Sage of the magic temple and the leader of this temple. As well mind you, the only High Sage within two hundred kilometers, rivaled in power politically by only the Count of the region, who mind you, is much too busy to care!" Great Uncle Vince said in a mischievous yet dead serious tone.
Honestly, I super lucked out with the family tree here, I wonder what my grandfathers are like? Some kinda warlord? Magic Jesus?
Being pulled behind my Great Uncle, we walked towards the back of the temple, through two large wooden doors, and approached a large purple crystal that a family and a man wearing a light blue robe were currently standing in front of, the robed man giving the family a simple briefing.
"... after walking into the crys- Good Evening High Sage." The robed man said, bowing to Vinny and gesturing towards the family. "This is the Everspark Family. Their son apparently started to cast a month early! Baron Von Everspark has large expectations for his young noble son, Landau." He said, gesturing towards the elegantly dressed and bowing child, as well as the extremely high-end dressed family behind him.
Compared to them, it was as if our family just rolled in from a dollar store thrift shop, wearing completely bland brown clothes and light armor. Outside of Uncle Vinny of course.
"Good evening Lord High Sage Vincent. I am Baron Everspark, but you may call me Von." The nobleman said, sticking his hand out for a handshake towards Uncle Vinny. "I'm assuming you're here to personally oversee my son's evaluation? Also, why have you brought that filth?" He said, pointing towards my now livid family. "I thought it wasn't open to commoners until after us noblemen have finished our business, I mean, I've heard tales of your generosity, but never to this extent! Truly you have a heart of gold."
There it is!
"Mage Vermont. How far away do the Eversparks live from the temple?" Vinny asked the robed man, visibly upset.
Sighing, Vermont replied, "Sir, they live about one hundred and fifty kilometers due west from the temple, traveling along the standard routes takes them a trip of about two hours. Please keep in mind who we are dealing with sir." However, the last sentence didn't seem to reach Vinny's ears.
"Baron Everspark. Do you know what 'filth' you just addressed?" Vinny asked in a tone that caused the temperature to drop in the room by multiple degrees.
"Uh- no? Are they high-ranking adventurers or something? If so, even they must wait for us, as we're a Baron Family, not a Baronet. Why are you getting so upset Lord?" The noble asked, visibly shaken.
"Whilst not incorrect. One problem lies with that train of thought. Von Everspark, meet my nephew, Jin Lintra, and his son Aeron Lintra." As those words left his mouth, all of the colors drained from the face of the Baron.
"I meant no offense! I was simply-" Before the Baron could continue his explanation, Vince stuck out his hands, and a swirling nebula appeared beneath the Baron and his family, dropping them through it and closing it once they disappear.
Ha! Based.
"I'll see you back again in two hours. Have fun on the journey back." Uncle Vince said as the portal closed. "Now, to your evaluation Aeron. All you have to do is step into the crystal, your father, mother, and most mages do this. You'll see different things within the crystal, and you can do anything you'd like within it. Simply stay within it for at least five minutes as we measure you, then you can come out. Sound easy enough?"
"Yep!" I said, giving Vince and my family a thumbs up. "I'll see ya after! Also Mom, and Dad! What kind of magic did Uncle Vinny use?" Of course, I know the answer, but I still wanted to see if they'd tell me.
"Spacial Magic? Has your father not told you the basic branches of magic yet young one?" Vince asked curiously.
"Nope!" I said as I walked backward into the crystal, hoping there'd be a nice and fun either argument or explanation once I get out.
Time to investigate this neat crystal.
