Chapter 16: 15. Careful planning in a dangerous situation.

And that's the last one.

I finally removed the final rock that had fell on me, my body was aching all around from pain. And I felt that some of my bones were broken. I couldn't even walk properly anymore after this impact.

I look around me to find any cover so I can hide and recover, a place like this is too dangerous for me right now.

The cave that I had fallen into was wide, really wide, its roof must have been nearly a hundred meters high, and its width was insane. I couldn't see the end of it, on top of me, I could see the hole I fell through, on that part, the roof was thinner than the rest, at least what was remaining of it though.

Around the cave, there were great big pillars of stone lifting it up, in the distance, I could see the outline of monsters.

They were getting closer to here, no doubt about to investigate what happened here. I need to move now!

My body was barely receptive to what I wanted it to do. I couldn't even walk, so I had to painfully crawl toward one of the pillars so I could at least hide for a while.

When I get to behind the pillar, I find a miniature pillar connected to the base of it. Which created a spot between the two pillars that was decently covered.

I hide in between the rocks, like this, I'll be able to rest for a while.

Let's see the extent of the damage.

This is not good at all. Auto hp recovery can heal this damage, but it'll take days at the rate it is currently at. And what will I do if a monster decides to come here? I have nothing to fight in a roundabout way.

The temperature here was getting pretty high, and the sounds of monsters and ringing was getting louder.

Then, I see four giant hornets flying from my right towards the hole where I previously was. I appraise one of them as they were passing through.

What a hopeless situation I am in, even the monsters here are powerful even if I was at full power. But at least it wasn't like that dragon, that dragon was a real monster. My heart is still trembling when I remember him, I'm still way too shocked by him.

What was I supposed to do to be able to recover, one of the land monsters will eventually find me if I do nothing, but what can I do?

Wait a moment, I still have some things that I could use for offense. The fire techniques, I didn't use that skill earlier since I don't wanna reveal myself like that time with the frogs, but I could potentially use it.

Maybe I still have hope, there is no need to fall into a depression now after witnessing that monster. Come on, I just need to do or die.

I did have 9 evolutionary points, so I could get something that'll make me stronger at least. Maybe I could even upgrade my healing organ to recover faster. This is important here, if I do one wrong move it'll be checkmate, just like a chess match. Too bad I'm terrible at chess.

First off, I just need the hornets to break off from each other. That will likely take time, but I have nothing else to do. So I'll spend my evolutionary points now.

Carefully, what will be the most important thing in this situation now? I need to bring down the hornets from the sky first if I want to kill them, so how will I do that? Is there anything I can develop that can do that?

Can't think of any, come on is there seriously nothing? I can use fire to burn their wings, I think that should be enough though, so maybe I should actually improve my weaponry.

Alright, I've thought up a plan now. I might actually stand a chance to survive now. Ok, so I want to develop poison.

There was a weird feeling in my throat and mouth, I guess that meant that a poison organ would develop there.

I could level up my claws or teeth, even scales could work. But which one had higher priority?

Let's think, scales means better defense and a higher chance to survive. Claws would help fight, and teeth will also help fight and maybe administer poison. You know what they say, the best defense is a good offense so I'll level either teeth or claws. And teeth have two advantages behind them, so I think I know which one I'll do.

Suddenly, the sound of clashing battle intensifies, the sound came from closer than the other sounds of battle. If they were fighting this close to me, eventually they will find me. So no point in waiting for healing naturally. It's now or never.

Ok upgrade my teeth.

Now I have four more points, just about to run out, but I'll upgrade my teeth again.

I got a level up from that upgrade, thank god, and now I basically have no more points, so now is the time to wait.

I wait for a hornet or another monster that I could take on to appear.

And one of them did appear. The hornets that had went to the hole to investigate, or the hornet I suppose. Only one of them had returned, the others were likely killed by other monsters there.

Holy crap, that one is stronger than the one I appraised, but it was still injured by the battle it had underwent. This is a golden opportunity, finally something good happened to me.

First off, I need to get its attention, I don't want it to be too far away, just close enough to be able to kill it quickly.

Now is the time to use fire techniques, with energy perception and manipulation, I was now able to take my EP and manipulate it with fire techniques. I create a small fire that was floating in mid air, then I fire it towards the hornet. The hornet didn't expect it and was hit by it, it didn't do any damage but it clearly agitated it and it started looking around.

I send another small flame into the air, the hornet starts to move towards the fire, now it was close to me. From under it while it was captivated by the small candle fire, I prepare a thin fire arrow to fire at its wing, it was difficult and took time. But I managed to do it before the hornet moved away.

The arrow flies up and hits the hornets wing, making the hornet be unable to fly and it starts falling.

The hornet falls violently, and while it was confused, I bite its head from my hiding spot, I produce poison from my fangs and I breathe fire at the highest speed I could muster. The hornet struggle and tried to stab me with its stinger, I moved my head from side to side to try and rip off its head as quick as possible. The hornet couldn't attack me with its stinger since it was stuck on the ground. And after struggling for a while, I had finally ripped of its head.
