Lisa, head of the science department, here. And this is my report on the progress we have done.
We have tried to create gunpowder by just thinking about creating it, that didn't work at all. So we opted for a different plan.
We decided that we needed to know its atomic structure to be able to create it, unfortunately though, no one in our labs actually knows anything about chemistry, and most had managed to get the job by just saying E=mc².
To be serious though, this isn't very good, damn, I really should have focused more in chemistry class. Wait, now that I think about it, we never actually studied the formula of gunpowder in college. Yeah, the most I remember are other chemicals like ammonium nitrate, or nitric acid and stuff like that.
Wait, ammonium nitrate huh... wasn't that another explosive? I remember several disasters in history that related to ammonium nitrate. And I actually know its structure, now that I think about it, my memories are getting a lot less foggy now, but why? Is it due to a skill? Or time? Or did this evolution improve my memory?
It doesn't matter what the reason is, the important thing here is that I at least remember the structure of ammonium nitrate.
Don't try making ammonium nitrate at home kids, this is all being done by a super reckless person.
I focus on the structure of ammonium nitrate, and then I try to create it. Holy crap that's a more energy than I expected!
Creating just a small pinch took like 20 EP from me.
I guess I should have expected that creating something would use up a lot more energy than just raising the earth or firing it like a spear. Still a little disappointing, but at least I know how to make it.
Well now, what am I going to do, you ask? You'd think I'd just give up on the explosives, but fear not! I already had a plan for that. If creating more of something consumes such a large amount of energy. Then how about transmuting some materials into ammonium nitrate?
Hey can I have an alchemy skill?
[Skill found. Would you like to obtain skill "Alchemy" for 10 points?]
Wow, that is basically all of my skill points, but it is 100% worth it, so yeah I do want it.
[Conditions fulfilled. Skill "Alchemy" lv. 1 was added]
Finally, I can now understand the law of equivalent exchange.
But what is important now, is that I have to get some material to transmute right? Well, it has to have the elements that I'm looking for right now, I can't transmute atoms to become something else, because I'm not good enough, hey, I'm new alright! There's no need to start telling me to git gud!
So anyway, what are we gonna transmute you ask? Well, a body. Bodies are filled with tons of different elements, and with how giant those crabs are, I'm sure I can get some material to make it.
Fighting those crabs was more than just a way to get materials, it was also to test myself. And when I had found more of them, I got into battle instantly.
Their movements were practically null right now, I was just a lot faster than them. And when I attacked one of them, I was able to kill it instantly.
Alright, I'll try to use telekinesis now.
Using telekinesis was pretty hard, and required more focus than my eye of force, but I was able to maneuver things with it with more freedom, and things didn't need to be in my line of sight for it to work against them.
I managed to stop one of the crabs claws, and then I pulled on it with telekinesis to tear it off. It consumed a decent amount of EP, but I managed to do it.
Huh, that's not bad. Not bad at all.
Anyways, that's about it for the test, now let's "harvest" the materials.
Needless to say, after that encounter, I now had 4 crab bodies to experiment on.
Ok, how do I do alchemy now? Is there like a circle or something that I need to do?
Uh, let's try wrapping a part of the crab in energy.
Ok, now that I did that, let me try to deconstruct some of the meat there. Woah, that's weird.
I managed to destruct it, but that only made it a formless pile of meat, that wasn't what I wanted to do, but I probably should have been more specific.
I try to deconstruct the meat parts into it's most basic elements, I couldn't break it down that much, but I did get some basic materials out of it. Now let's try reconstructing it into ammonium nitrate.
[Proficiency of skill "Alchemy" reached the required amount. Increasing skill "Alchemy" to lv. 2]
After a while of trying, I had finally done it, and a fistful of ammonium nitrate was now in front of me.
Some other parts of the crab were also used, but I did manage to do it. This is actually pretty fun now that I think more about it. Alchemy is cool!
And so, I transmuted the rest of the crabs into ammonium nitrate, and I ended up with an amount that was almost as big as me.
Well, I was left with a bunch of material that I can't use for ammonium nitrate, and I'm frankly too grossed out to touch it, so let's just grab all of this ammonium nitrate and make a trap with it for the crystal person.
After sensing where the crystal person is, I grab the ammonium nitrate with telekinesis, and run to a place that was near it.
[Proficiency of skill "Telekinesis" reached the required amount. Increasing "Telekinesis" to lv. 2]
Once I get there, I set it down on the ground as a trap, I then create a ton of flammable poison and cover it with it. And then I go to meet with the crystal person. The crystal person comes face to face with me, and immediately roars and starts to run after me, since I was faster, I was able to outspeed it and lure it towards the trap.

Once the crystal person got to the trap and I was a pretty far distance away from it, I created an explosion with fire techniques on it.
The explosion that I created on the ammonium nitrate rapidly grew larger, engulfing the entirety of the crystal person and the nitrate nearly instantly. I was pushed back by the shockwave from the explosion, and then I saw how large of an explosion was created.
Several dozen meters high, and nearly 100 meters wide, I was nearly even caught by it. But an explosion like that is sure to have got that crystal.
And when the dust finally cleared, the crystal person was still there, missing an arm and a leg from the explosion.
But what happened next was something I couldn't predict, the crystal had regenerated its leg.
[Crystal] lv. 19
Species: Crystalline Apoikia.
Status: normal.
Stats:
Hp: 220/357
Ep: 50/212
Strength: 264
Defense: 381
Energy strength: 188
Energy defense: 114
Speed: 121
I couldn't finish it off with one move, but an attack like that still more than evens the odds, although I don't know what skills it has, there is no way it can pull off much skills with such a low amount of energy.
And so I started bombarding it with a barrage of earth attacks, raising the earth as spikes to try and pierce through it, the crystal had then continued to regenerate the crystals that I broke off, until its energy had finally reached zero.
This is now my victory!
But something was wrong, even though the crystal had zero EP now, it continued to regenerate its lost crystals it had even finall regenerated its lost arm, and continued to soldier towards me.
What?! How?! It was at zero energy!
But another look at its stats show me that its max stats started to decrease. Was it using its max energy as energy?!
The crystal had then grown crystals from the ground to stab me, and shot rapid small crystals towards me simultaneously.
I jumped up to avoid both of those attacks, and the crystal person had retaliated by growing crystals out of its arm and trying to hit me with it from the ground.
I flapped my wings to fly up and avoid the attack, and then I got closer to the crystal while still attacking it with earth, the attacks weren't very effective, even though its energy defense was low, I don't get it, why is it tanking them so well? Wait, maybe I'm interpreting energy defense wrongly? I was attacking with earth on the assumption that any technique would count as an energy attack, but earth is still physical, so what if I use fire instead?
I start shooting fireballs and breathing fire towards it, and the damage started appearing a lot more quickly, it was charred black, but cracks were appearing on its surface.
But the damage I'd do to it would be healed by it nearly as soon as it was done, and I couldn't keep on flying indefinitely.
Soon, I had to touch down since I couldn't keep afloat, and when that time came, the crystal person started raising spikes out of the ground at me. And it started running towards me to land a blow on me.
How much energy does it have remaining?! With an Appraisal I see that its max energy had fallen to 132 now. I only need to outlast its energy then I'll win.
As it came closer for an attack, I ran around it and dodged the attack, and the crystal had fired more crystal spikes from its sides. I nearly didn't see them coming and got hit by one of them. The wound inflicted by it was pretty deep, but it wasn't as deep as I thought it would be, I though since it was a physical attack it would use its strength stat, but it turns out that it probably used the energy strength stat, I don't care why it works that way, I'm just happy to have survived that attack better than I thought I would've.
We continue our game of cat and mouse for a while, with me consistently landing fire attacks on it and dodging its attacks, its max energy had finally fallen to 70 when it started changing what it did.
From now on, it no longer healed any of the attacks I dealt to it, but its crystal attacks had become more ferocious, with it firing dozens of crystal spears from.its body at me.
I retreated back from all of those attacks to catch my breath, I need some time to be able to recover SP, but the crystal never allowed me to take a break to recover. Which forced me to start using max SP to continue moving.
As the crystal used more and more energy, it started to lose size, it had also started to lose its color. Wait, don't tell me. Is it starting to wane?!
If it continues burning energy like this, then I'll not get any exp for finishing it off. I need to go in for a final attack, quickly!
I stopped attacking with fire techniques as I prepared one finishing attack at it, I prepared a ton of energy into the next water attack I was going to do, I created a ton of water and I compressed it as much as I could, making it as thin and small as possible. And then, I fired it horizontally towards it.
The water jet reached the crystal nearly instantly, despite the distance between us being so large, I held up the water jet as I continued to cut it horizontally, until I finally cut it in half.

I won, the battle was bumpy, but I finally won, although the exp amount is pretty great, it's significantly lower than what I would have gotten if it hadn't started doing what it did.
But killing the crystal person was one step to my other goal.
Yes, I'm going to kill the giant crab.
