Chapter 112: Serial numbers

The helicopter ride would not take too long, but Leo still go in a comfortable position.

The ocean looked beautiful in the morning, there were a lot of small fishing boats on the water.

 

 

"Noah, what about your boat though?" asked Leo.

"No big deal, one of my servants will pick it up sooner or later, not like I will need it any time soon."

Leo sighed, he was quite jealous of Noah's luxurious lifestyle.

At the same time, he didn't really care as long as he didn't have to travel in that damned boat again.

 

 

The helicopter ride was pleasant, Leo held a light conversation with Noah and Alyona about business, connections, and some other stuff.

"Ah Leo, now that I am thinking about it how did it go in that sarkic outpost?"

"It went very well, I got what I came for to say the least."

"And that would be...?"

 

 

 

Leo simply winked at Noah upon him questioning what Leo got.

Noah laughed and Leo continued.

"In all seriousness though, I appreciate what you have done for me. If it wasn't for you I probably wouldn't have been able to contact them."

 

 

 

Noah patted Leo on his shoulder.

"No worries, I consider you one of my comrades now. You help me and I help you, the way things should be."

Leo nodded and a smile appeared on his face.

Noah spoke again.

"You know my number in case you need me, just don't forget the password so I know who I am dealing with."

 

 

 

Noah, Leo, and Alyona kept talking until the helicopter arrived.

It was a decent while away from HQ to ensure no suspicions would arise.

Noah gave Leo 100 £ to take a taxi to HQ, if Leo got dropped off in an unmarked, blacked-out car it would also arise suspicion.

 

 

 

Nothing interesting happened during the drive to HQ and Leo arrived soon after that.

He checked in at the counter before immediately heading over to the weapon armory.

"Gotta hurry, I am on a timer now..." thought Leo.

He knew that the moment he would report in the news that he returned would be reported to Iris as soon as possible and Leo already knew that he would probably be interrogated. It would not long before some guards would come and get him.

 

 

 

Shortly after checking in Christopher appeared and ushered Leo into a private room.

"Long time no see! Tell me, how may I help you today?" asked Christopher.

"Listen man, I won't lie to you. I took my weapon on a break with me for safety and I lost it. You able to get me a new weapon?"

 

 

 

 

Christophers' expression darkened.

"Are you fucking stupid? You dare come in here and just request a new gun after fucking losing one?!"

"I completely forgot where I put it, it's an honest mistake and I know I fucked up." said Leo.

Christopher vented his anger out against Leo for a while before calming down a bit.

 

 

 

"Listen up, under these circumstances, I am not allowed to issue a new weapon without you getting a hefty punishment, but since you were honest to me I will give you one free pass, I will mark out that your weapon is no longer fit for commission at your current rank, either way, I was planning on contacting you sooner or later about getting a new weapon."

 

 

 

Leo sighed in relief, he could have been royally screwed here.

"Just don't fucking lose your gun again or I will ensure that you lose your rank, it can pose a serious security threat and a harsh blow to MC&D if the authorities track down our weapon supplier based on weapons serial numbers and such."

"But doesn't the weapon serial number only lead back to its last legal buyer? And can't you just file it off?"

 

 

 

Christopher sighed.

"I will explain this quickly, if they trace back the numbers to the last legal buyer they will be able to trace down our supplier. If they rat us out for a plea deal we have a big problem, and you can't also just file down the serial number since it will badly damage the weapon."

 

 

 

Leo nodded.

 

 

 

"Alright, wait here while I get your new gun."
