Chapter 12: Survival

Leo ushered some of his last strength to bodyslam the cultist to the ground before shapeshifting his arm into a blade before slashing the back of the cultist leader open, all the way down to the bone.
Leo wanted to rip his fucking spine out in order to finish him when he felt dread overcome him, he felt something was wrong.
The cultist leader reached into his cloak pulling out a vial and throwing it towards Leo.

Leo disengaged and jumped away, however, he was still hit with the vial.

The vial hit him on his chest right next to the stab wound.
In the next moment, Leo felt a horrible burning sensation coming from his chest.

When he took a look he found out that the vial was filled with acid, biting away and corroding his skin.

Leo was in absolute agony, it hurt even more then when he was shot, he knew he had to end this fight quickly.

He ignored his injuries and went for the killing blow on the cult leader.

The cultist leader was still trying to get up from the ground but couldn't, he lost most of his strength.

Leo wobbled towards the cultist before planting his knee on his back, ripping out a part of his spine.

Leo collapsed down on the floor, breathing heavily and about to pass out.

He looked at the acid burn on his chest and noticed that it stopped sizzling before he heard a voice in his head.

[Sogriths mission has been completed, you have been given your reward.

[Note from Sogrith: "You are weak. I have used a little bit of my power to stop the acid burn, it is your task to deal with the two blades stuck in your body."]
Leo was relieved but angry as well.
"Couldn't you heal me fully?" thought Leo.

["I could, but why would I? This is better since your constant agony and pain feed me with negative emotions."]
Leo was baffled and extremely angry at Sogrith.
"You fucking asshole! If I fucking of infection or something you won't have anyone to help you!" thought Leo.
This time there was no response.

[Reward being given now.]

In the next second, Leo felt a splitting headache.

It felt like an entirely new personality got added to him.

He imagined it as how having a multiple personality disorder would feel.
Leo stopped cursing Sogrith as he asked a question

"So, how do I use my shapeshift ability?" Leo thought.

Surprisingly, he got an answer.

["Touch the body of someone you have killed and focus your energy on it, you must stay concentrated or you will fail."]

Leo touched the body of the cult leader and focused all of his energy on it.

He could feel himself shrinking in height but stayed focused on the process.

When Leo did not feel himself shrinking anymore, he opened his eyes.

Surprisingly, the injuries that he had sustained in his original form carried on, and the blades were still stuck in Leo's body, if anything the pain only worsened.

Normally Leo would've already gone in shock, but Sogrith was preventing that from happening.

He pulled out the blade that was stuck in his leg as he tore a part off the cloak and used it to apply pressure to the wound and to stop blood from coming out.
Leo looked into the blood-stained blade to see his appearance.
He looked like a young man, about twenty-five years old with a muscular build and brown hair.

"Sweet." said Leo in a hoarse voice.

Leo was surprised that he was once again able to talk.

When he was in his shapeshifter form, the only thing he could do was let out groans and screams.

"So, how do I save this body in my mind?" Leo said.

"oh, that is handy, but how do I switch when I need to?" asked Leo.
[You can switch bodies by focusing your energy and picturing the bodies form in your mind.]

Leo attempted to switch back to his shapeshifter form, and after about ten minutes it worked.

Leo switched back to the cultist leader's body and "borrowed" a cloak from one of the less mangled cultists
When Leo searched the body of the cult leader, he ended up finding two more acid-filled vials.

Leo picked up the vials before taking a look at the blade in his chest.
Leo mentally prepared himself as his hands trembled.
He grabbed hold of the blade and slowly pulled it out while wailing in pain.

Once it was out blood started flowing once again.
Leo tore another part of the cultist leader's cloak and wrapped it around his body, applying pressure on the wound.
Still, he had lost a lot of blood and was generally not feeling well.
However, he still had one thing.

And that was his new life.
