Chapter 66: The escape

Leo noticed that Alyona was still wearing her maid outfit, confusing Leo a bit.

They were in a highly dangerous area and he atleast expected her to wear some military-like outfit, but decided not to question it.

Leo quickly followed her as she had already started walking.

"You know, Alyona, you really did not have to be so rough."

 

 

 

Alyona had given Leo a knee to the stomach before grappling him to the ground and pressing the knife against his throat.

"Apologies sir Leo, but I had to make sure that the mission would not be compromised as it would have severe consequences for sir Noah."

Leo sighed before speaking again.

"It's fine, I probably would've done the same, are we close to our transport yet?" questioned Leo.

 

 

 

Alyona did not respond but only pointed her finger into the distance.

When Leo squinted his eyes he could make out the silhouette of a vehicle.

Leo didn't say anything for the rest of the walk and they arrived at the car shortly afterward.

Alyona opened the door for Leo and allowed him to get into the front passenger seat.

She got into the driver's seat before quickly speeding off.

 

 

 

Once they were out of the forest and were on the main road for a solid five minutes Leo got bombarded by questions.

"Did you get spotted?"

"Did you complete your mission?"

"Did you get any SCP's?"

"Did you leave any..."

 

 

 

The questions kept on coming and Leo quickly put up his hand in the air, signaling for silence.

"All is fine, the mission was completed and I got both objects of interest.

I was not spotted and escaped successfully, The Hermit was eliminated by internal acid burns.

Other casualties include all camera room members, a guard and the assistant director."

 

 

 

Alyona responded in her cold tone like usual.

"Alright, all good then. Please put the objects in the two bins on the passenger seats in the back."

Leo unbuckled his seatbelt before opening one of the containers.

The container itself looked a lot like a weapon case and Leo quickly put one of the items into it.

He closed the container and opened the other one before putting the other item in it.

He sat back in his seat and buckled his seatbelt once again before Alyona spoke.

"We will be going for a long drive since we will be switching vehicles a lot, so I highly recommend you get some sleep. In case of an ambush I will wake you up, the same goes for when we switch vehicles."

Leo nodded and closed his eyes.

Leo could not help but think about his past.

 

 

 

He used to pull countless all-nighters, being consumed in his research and devotion to the foundation.

All he wanted to do was reach a higher rank and protect the foundation, along with humanity.

However, back then Leo was still living in his own little bubble, now he knew how cruel humanity truly was.

In the end, everyone was using him.

Alyona looked towards Leo, seeing him fast asleep with a tear running down his cheek.

"Guess it was about time." thought Leo.

He found himself in the room where he met Sogrith, but something was off.

The room was entirely white, but there were streaks of red running through it.

 

 

 

In the middle of the room stood a table and Leo saw The Hermit sitting at the table with his hands on his head.

Leo approached the table and took a seat.

"Long time no see Sogrith, how are you?"

"Shut the hell up Leo, what the fuck did you do?" asked Sogrith.

 

 

 

Leo tilted his head before responding.

"What do you mean?"

"Do you really not notice what is happening here? This location is comparable to a private room, nothing should be able to access this except me and you, yet this room is being affected by something."

 

 

 

Sogrith stood up and pointed towards the red streaks moving along the wall, they looked like scars.

"The only way for something to affect this location is if you give it access to your body, I want answers and I want them now!"

At this point Sogrith was screaming.

 

 

 

Leo wanted to tell him to calm down, but it would probably only make it worse.

His anger was understandable, as Leo was his only way of reaching his current goal.

"Alright, let me tell you everything that happened."
