Chapter 99: The embassy

"Alright, I will see you tomorrow. Just don't expect me to stick around for long."

"No need, have a goodnight."

"You too."

 

 

 

Leo left the room and went back to his.

He quickly undressed and threw away the suit that Noah gave him, it was mostly torn.

Leo decided to take a shower since he smelled like blood, he personally didn't mind the smell but it would disturb others.

 

 

 

Leo started thinking about how much he changed since he was a researcher.

He used to be kind-hearted but now he was cold and brutal.

Leo wondered if it happened because of the betrayal he faced back when he was a surgeon for the foundation or if it was because of the anomalies that were influencing his psyche.

 

 

Leo stepped out of the shower and dried himself off before inspecting his body.

There were no major injuries, mostly just scrapes, and bruises.

Leo put some clothes on before going to bed, it was already quite late and he was tired after the fight.

 

 

 

When he woke up he felt refreshed, today would be the day that he would meet the sarkists, or at least attempt to meet them.

He quickly got dressed and waited for his breakfast to arrive, this day it would be some simple fried eggs.

Although it was a simple meal it was one of his favorites, mostly because it contained a decent amount of protein.

 

 

 

After having his meal Leo decided to go visit Noah, it was still 11:00 AM but he would be busy for most of the day with the sarkists, so he decided to do it now.

Leo knocked on Noah's door with the specific knock pattern again and the door was quickly opened.

 

 

 

Noah was sitting on the couch next to Alyona.

Alyona still had her full body covered with clothing, hiding her cuts and burns.

"Ah, Leo. You have arrived."

"Indeed I have, what is it that you need Noah?"

"I will be quite frank with you, I personally will be leaving the country in two days, I won't be able to stay here until you are done with your stuff, if you leave with me I will be able to transport you back to England, if not you will have to figure something out yourself."

"What? Why?" questioned Leo.

"Some items to repair Alyona will be arriving today but I can't have all of them shipped here, there is one in England so you can tag along. After I get my materials I will also be heading back to Russia so I won't return to Malbork."

Leo sighed.

"Alright, I will probably return with you but I first have to establish some contacts here if you know what I mean."

"Of course I do, but to be clear, you want me to take the money back with me and put it offshore for now until you need it for establishing your own presence, right?"

"Exactly, will that work?"

"Yeah, it's fine. That was pretty much all I wanted to know. You can leave now."

 

 

 

 

Leo nodded and quickly headed back to his room before picking up his bag.

He had everything he needed when it came to combat.

Leo headed out and took a taxi to a building close to the embassy, he couldn't just pull up at an abandoned building after all.

As the taxi got closer and closer to the embassy Leo felt a headache surfacing, he didn't have it before so Leo started getting suspicious.

 

 

 

The taxi dropped Leo off at a nearby building and quickly drove off.

Leo started walking towards the embassy, it was about a kilometer away.

His headache only worsened as he got close but Leo also felt something else.

He felt a raging anger coming out of him mixed with resentment and a feeling of superiority.

 

 

 

"This isn't good..." thought Leo.

He considered turning back but Leo steeled his resolve, this was a rare opportunity, if he backed out now it might be a long time before he could see them again, the same time might also happen then.

 

 

When Leo entered the embassy his emotions hit a peak, it was hard to control himself.

He looked around the embassy for a while, looking for an entrance to the tunnel complex.

The embassy itself was a mess, exactly what you would expect from an abandoned building.

Except for one room, the ambassador's office itself.

 

 

 

"Bingo."

When Leo looked under the ambassador's desk he saw something that appeared to be a trapdoor.

Leo first wanted to pour acid on it but after realizing that the tunnels were built to withstand nuclear blasts he figured that it wouldn't have any effect, so he decided to wait around until the trapdoor would open.

It was hard to stay lucid with his emotions on the point of boiling over but he managed.

 

 

 

After an hour a soft click could be heard and the trapdoor was seen raising...
